Welcome!
Um, so welcome class of 2024. First of all, congratulations on being admitted to UC Davis.
You did it. You worked hard and you deserve to be here. You should be very proud.
I do want to acknowledge the uncertainties we are experiencing with the global health situation, so, um.
I want to let you know that the health and safety of our students are put up hard at UC Davis, and so we're making adjustments to our campus life as necessary and life right now.
Is not business as usual as you can see we're doing hosting these webinars instead of being would interact with you all faces face, but I hope that you and your families are safe and healthy during these times.
So our admission process, however, remains unchanged and we're so proud to welcome our class of 2024.
So let's make this web and are a little bit more interactive. Please comment your major on the chat box.

Agricultural & Environmental Education
So see, here's some Civil Engineering there'll space genetics and genomics, biology, mechanical engineering, animal science and management. Again, mechanical engineering an under Claire live science. When we have agriculture and environmental education as well.
So pretty broad of majors in here.
Alright, so um, let's go ahead and get started with our presentation. So now that you're admitted.
Our question is now what right? Uhm so we want to share the five most popular reasons why students choose UC Davis.
So the first one is our beautiful campus. We have the largest campus of why you sees with over 5000 acres. This includes our massive quad right at the heart of our campus. A great location for students and socialized study. I relax.
On the left you can see on the residence Hall for the first year students. So I'm on this specific.
Slide you'll see the residence Hall. We do guarantee housing for first year students and we highly encourage all students to take advantage of this opportunity.
Uh, we have multiple options for housing and you can select your preference once you uhm.
Are filling out your housing application.
And you will do this once you submit your Sir and will talk about all those dates and deadlines towards the end.
So on the South side of our campuses are, um, Arboretum. Um, that's one of my favorite places on campus. This is where I go ahead and take breaks. And it also serves as an outdoor laboratory, an some of our studio majors actually go out there and seek outdoor inspiration for any of our their assignments as well. But it's also a nice place to go and take a walk or even jog, or even just have a picnic there with yourself or with friends.

Check out our latest instagram story - one of our tour guides let an instagram live tour!
If you have not yet taken, uh, if you have not been to our campus yet, I would encourage you all to take a virtual tour of all the cool places on our campus.
So this is one of my favorite parts. Umso campus dining might be a big factor for many of you I know. For me it was since I barely knew how to cook going into college. Uhm so don't worry, we got you a Davis. UM students who live on campus purchase meal plans that can be used any of our three dining comments.
One of them, which is on the left of this specific slide, an they serve delicious food from sustainable and responsible sources, and they also work to cater to all dietary restrictions.
Students were sometimes on the go, so the memorial union, also known as the M. You would be your spot to stop for a quick bite.
And did I mention the food trucks on campus? Also, some of my favourites. They do rotate.
My day or weekly. So definitely check out the new ones once you're on campus. Depending on what day you're going to go, check out those we trucks and for those freshest ingredients you can take advantage of our student form which helps to start the pantry. And that's a program to provide free food to students of combat. Food insecurity on campus.

So one of our top part is is to make sure you Excel in your academics while in college. But we also want to make you also want to make some times to do stress, especially during midterms and finals.
And what better way to check out um to check out. Whoops, sorry. What better way to check out our museums? Um, are newly renovated pool area and also um go have some time, an global or some friends as well.
Our second experience, um so the second reason why students pick UC Davis is again experience. Uh, we have over 100 departments on campus with a lot of unique experiences for soon as to take advantage.
Here is on the right side. You can take advantage of some of our coffee lab courses and that includes brewing and taste is different types of rose, so that's a pretty cool awesome. I love coffee, so that would be a fun course. It take were also about 20 minutes from Sacramento or state capital. So so for some of you students that are interested in political science or public policy you can take advantage of our opportunities through the UC Sacramento.
We also have a bodega Marine Laboratory where students can partake in summer Reddit residence program and you'll see a picture on the bottom left of some students there also. For those of you wanting to study abroad where one of the most expensive city abroad programs in the UC system with programs that visit over 40 countries, so you'll see a few pictures of pictures of students that have studied abroad as well.
Alright, so are go again is to have students succeed and be prepared to continue their professional journey. So we provide students with the internship experiences on an off-campus. We have various employers that visit us during our career. Intention ferzan. I like to tell students address your best. You would never know you might be speaking to a feature internship employer.
So, you see, Davis prides in being a very great campus. We hold some of the top rankings for our sustainability efforts around campus. We also constantly implement ecofriendly practices such as using solar panels. And we're also committed to recycling and composting. So we have separate bins all over campus so that everyone could do their part to support the environment. And as you may know, or may not know, biking is a major part of UC Davis culture. It is good for the environment, but it's also good for you.
As soon as you all have full access to our recently expanded sorry I recently expanded rec center and it's fully loaded with exercise classes, rock climbing and.

Will study abroad programs be discontinued for the next year because of covid?
Various racquetball, so here, sorry, I'm switching switching the slides. You'll see the green part and then also like I was mentioning our our gym as well.
So we do have over 20 NCAA Division One Athletics team and this includes some of our.

Football, basketball equestrian am beach volleyball and this is a really good time to go, especially if you like free swag. I know I do a man to also have fun. So definitely go and check out an support. You know our our players.
But there's also plenty of opportunities to play sports and club teams. An animal recreation opportunities as well, so going support, but also go and have fun.
An uhm, we are considered a college town, so we have a lot of college town perks. Perks, especially if you're a bubble level, we have plenty of Bobo around the campus, so that's definitely something that I love to enjoy. What's on campus? And then Lastly.

06:10:03 PM
Thank you. :)
The sense of community. The sense of community that we have on campus is definitely come to be very supportive of one another, which makes you know your experience in college alot alot better and you're getting this experience through students, your peers, faculty and staff. So definitely.
When we say that there is a sense of community, you really are getting that at UC Davis.
So there's so many places to go on so many people to meet so on campus. You'll definitely see a lot of centers where you can go in just hang out or see some of the events that they host throughout the ear, which is pretty awesome. You get to connect with other students that are also in there, wanting to learn more about those centers as well. So there is a space for all of you an we truly are in this together.
And now I know this is not one of the funnest, um, slides, but we do have important dates and deadlines that are approaching so March we did release your decision, and so those of you right now on the web and R were admitted. So congratulations, May 1st it is coming like a mention. We are still having this May 1st deadline to submit your SRC your statement and to register.
Uhm, and then the deadline to apply for student housing would be May 4th, although the deadline for student housing is May 4th. I would recommend if you do know you want to attend UC Davis to do it as soon as possible to start that application as soon as possible as well.
July 1st would be your deadline to submit official transcripts and then July 15. This system it official test scores.
Alright, so we are here to help you all through this. Uhm, you know transition from high school to come into UC Davis? You want to make sure you contact us with any questions you may have. We are all here to support you all in this and so go ahead and visit us an contact us through admissions.ucdavis.edu.
And this web and R was uhm.
Majority of it is for the Pacific Northwest and Hawaii, so we do have a place here for you can connect with other students that are also from around the area so you can connect there. So if you can scan the QR code an use or user link, you're able to connect that way and we are through our WhatsApp, sorry.
So now with UM, this will conclude our presentation. I did want to allow time to be able to ask any questions. I know some of you may already have some questions going on, so I'll go ahead and start answering those questions.
And yes, I just wanted to address some. Athena did make a great point. Uhm, if.
