Already now that we got the logistics out of the way, I do want to say congratulations. I know that you must have a million one questions about UC Davis and the next steps as an admitted student. Which is why I'm here to get your questions answered and hopefully get you pumped about being an Aggie.
So your first step as an admitted student is deciding which campus is right for yield. Many of you may be on the fence, and that's completely normal. It's a very big decision to make.
So we're going to be talking about some of the things that can hopefully help you make that decision.

Hello! Biomed Engineering
So the first reason students take our campus is beautiful we have the largest campus of all the euses with over 5000 acres.
This includes a massive quad right at the heart of our campus, which is a great location for students to socialize the study, relax on our hammocks or even play Frisbee, and that's not exciting enough for you. Keep an eye out for our events that just the bus which is a welcoming event for our first year students on campus.

As well as some concert, some played by local bands or even other Aggies or even special speakers. So one time I walked out of my French class sophomore year and I found that former President Bill Clinton was actually giving a speech right on the pod. So pretty cool.

On the slide displayed, you'll see that on the right with you have a picture of heart Hawk which houses are museum that showcases Native American Art and on the left you will actually see tercero, one of our newest residence halls for first year students.
Housing is guaranteed for up to two years and each housing area actually has its own dining comment. I'll touch a little bit more on how they at the end.
On the Southside of campuses are Arboretum and personally one of my favorite places to go.
It's home to thousands of species of wildlife, including a lot of ducks and squirrels. Don't worry, they're very friendly as well as Prudent Creek. Various gardens between plans from all over the world, and our Redwood Grove which you see pictured on your right.
It serves up an outdoor laboratory, so sometimes you'll see students getting lab samples or even see the art students. Paintings are in class on the Arboretum.
But it's also a beautiful place for a quick dog or picnic between positive.
And if you're looking for an app, I highly recommend counting the Ducks instead of counting sheep by relying on the graph. Such a relaxing place to get some quick disease in between classes.
If our campus isn't beautiful enough, our location in Northern California definitely is our sins. Love to take advantage of our states. Gorgeous locations such as Lake Tahoe and Yosemite. We even have are outdoor adventure club which will frequently coordinate trips to do everything from scale. Half Dome, 2 whitewater rafting and if you're heading home for the Holidays all you have to do is go N 20 minutes.
To our airport, the Sacramento International Airport and hop on the plane so very easy to get around, both within campus and outside of campus to all over the state and National.
So one of my favorite things to do is be, especially if I don't have to cook. It's one of the things I miss the most about living on campus as a speed it, but as a first year student living on campus, you can definitely take advantage of our meal plan, which can be used at any of our three dining Commons.
You can see a picture of that on the left. That's actually are safe. Users guide in common.
The food at the DC, which is really what students called the dining Commons on campus.
Serve sustainable food from very.
Responsible forces and they cater to all dietary restrictions. For example, kosher, vegan, vegetarian, my personal favorite is a vegetarian pot pie, and I would know 'cause I'm a vegetarian and I went ahead and tried all the food that was there at the dining comma.
Jordanna-Carol Udai
06:07:30 PM
gang gang me too
If you're not at the dining Commons, or you just want to grab a quick bite on campus, the main place speed it's usually go is the coffee house or the pro health, which is housing are Memorial Union right by the plot. So a very central location as well.
It's entirely student run and it offers everything from us, IE balls to Boba.

The style also on the other end of campus, will also offer food, including made to order prayed spam and it does host some local food trucks so you can see that pictured on the top right. Some of my favorite trucks that I've seen come by have been the ice cream truck and the shaved ice cream truck as well, which is perfect for our hot Summers or even our Warm Springs off campus.
Ethan Kuo
06:08:40 PM
SHAVED ICE!!
And you know that our feed it comes from the freshest ingredients. But see this can also take advantage of our speed farm which helps doc our pantry which is a very well known program on campus that provides free food to students to combat food insecurity on cafe.
Alright, study breaks, we all need that right? College is about academics, but it's only part of the experience.
On campus, we have multiple museums like the one I mentioned located in Heart Hall. We also have the Bohart Museum very beautiful. You'll see a wide range of butterflies. Even a butterfly you all that you can take pictures at Anna newly renovated a wreck for which you see pictured here. They have beach volleyball courts at the right point to some really cool. At the Memorial Union. We have an 8 Lane Bowling Alley.
Even the console gaming areas of people entertain.
So the second reason students take UC Davis is the experience that they get inside and outside of the classroom.
On the left you see a picture of one of our most popular courses. A very is the tractor driving course and with over 100 apartments on campus. We have a bunch of unique experiences for students to build up their resumes, but also have fun. So the picture on the right is actually of our coffee lab course that introduces students to brewing tasting as a way to introduce students to the field of chemical engineering so.
This class is open to students in that major, but also open to students outside of that nature. So cool way to get some hands-on experience with Ethan General Education if you'd like.
Outside of Davis, will cancel learn to get some hands-on experience in different locations. Sacramento is about 20 minutes away and we have our medical school there and they offer internships for students who are pre Med or would like to kind of see the inner workings of a hospital.
In Sacramento we also have RDC Sacramento program with courses are interested in policy ranging from everything from.
Environmental policy help, etc. That program is also open to any major so you don't have to be a political science major to participate and a lot of the students who do that program or not. Political science majors.
On the bottom left you'll see a photo of our bodega Bay more you laboratory right on the coast of California were still. This can actually participate and live in a summer residence program. In smaller class sizes there.
And if you want to expand your horizons beyond California, you can throw. Take advantage of one of our most.
So you see, is most expensive study abroad programs. We have over 40 different countries on our study abroad list in every continent. And you can do everything from take in microbiology course in Thailand to an engineering internship in Spain. So the possibilities are kind of endless in terms of getting that hands-on experience through easy Davis.
And of course, when you're there, you want to start building up your resume so that you are ready for Graduate School or a career after you graduate.
Our student government ASU CD has one of the biggest budgets of a college student government in the West and they allow.
Allow us to run programs such as idea trance program which is our free bus system for speeding.
I'm not pictured there in the red box.
We asked the unit chances and repaired by students offering work experience and the highest paying stream job on campus. Actually. So who doesn't want to go and learn how to drive a double Decker bus from London because we have done that alone who have done that still use that as of really cool lying to meet new people and students are always fascinated to hear about driving double Decker buses.
But we also have a very unique program, um called the barn residence program, which let's students live on campus while also working with animals on a day-to-day basis.
One of my friends actually live in the barn and he got to work with horses through the husbandry program there.
Said Al Qassabi
06:13:56 PM
is it optional to study abroad or required?
And we have our internship Career Center which puts over put students in over 10,000 internships through here through this center, I was actually able to do an internship on campus with doctor staring Bales whose research focuses on the neurobiology of monogamy. So I got to do everything from work with animals and animal care to bring their sections with really expensive machines. So really.
Cool experience and I found on campus.
Said Al Qassabi
06:14:00 PM
is it optional to study abroad?
He has really enjoyed the health portion or all the health options campus offers. We are a very green campus. I like to say both literally and figuratively as we hold a lot of different rankings for our sustainability efforts.
Devon Bohart
06:14:29 PM
Hello! I am an admissions advisor and can help answer questions
With our public transportation, like the unit transgressive, or our bikes, which a lot of our students views, we keep our impact on the environment very low. We also implement ecofriendly practices like solar panels and reconstruct green certified building.
You'll see the cycling and composting bins everywhere on campus, so it makes it easy for everyone to do their part.
So I mentioned the fighting earlier, but biking is a very big part of UC Davis.
It's also good for you, and In addition to the exercise, get from biking. You also have access to our recently expanded activities and recreational center or article for that. Jim will have exercise classes, rock climbing law, an indoor track and basketball and racquetball courts.
Devon Bohart
06:15:41 PM
Study Abroad is optional, except for our International Relations major. However, it is a great opportunity and your financial aid package can be used for expenses, so many students choose to take advantage of it
We also offer free yoga sessions throughout the year in the pod, and if you're looking to decompress, make sure you stop by our student health and Wellness Center. Pictured on the bottom right for a quick session on our massage chairs. Definitely take advantage of those are one of my favorite things to do as a student.
In our dining halls in our campus series, as well as the pantry will offer healthy food options, but we also have the farmers market located right off campus so you and if you are looking for new recipes for your newly acquired organic food, you can definitely take some free classes. Cooking classes provided by the student health and Wellness Center. So really good way to integrate them skills and take advantage of.
So one of my favorite things about campus is school spirit. We have over 20 NCAA Division One athletic teams including football, basketball and two new ones. A question writing and beach balls off.
Our sporting events are free for students to attend and we have a massive tear section on those that argue pack.
I think the iPad is super fun because you'll see that seems to go all out to see a photo there on the bottom right. But also, I think most importantly, at least for me, is that you can get free slide sometimes like tube socks.
Um, so if you haven't heard of two thoughts, are essentially the knee high socks, but they have, um, Davis logos and all that, and they're really funny school to wear.
I've been looking for ways to stay active. You can join club sport Sorento real sports as well. Intramural sports or iems are pretty interesting. We have Inter tube water polo and footage. I actually had two separate friends who participated in both of these sports, and they won their. They wanted their lead for the quarter and thought a photo in the wall of Fame in the art, so it was major bragging rights for that.
Jordanna-Carol Udai
06:17:55 PM
are we going to see dorms ?
Davis Spirit also extends past athletics. Davis is a college town from the campus all way through the community, so you'll see the alumni community members, people who live in and around the city of David will all come together to really make that same experience as memorable as they can't radio.
And so you'll also see that.
Veronica Zendejas
06:18:18 PM
Hello Jordan we will be sharing a link to the dorms later.
Because of that, students really feel like they find a home away from home with the community on campus.
Said Al Qassabi
06:18:27 PM
Thanks , I will like the program
Because like I said, they are very friendly and supportive with students on campus and that makes it very nice to know that if you're going to be making a big decision, like moving from the East Coast to the West coast, that you have a community is not just within your classmates or even the staff that work to support you on campus, but also know that if you walk a block off campus and end up in the middle of downtown Davis that you have people who are approachable.
And I'm willing to help you if you need it.
Chloe Barry
06:19:29 PM
For recreation, can students do horseback riding and for internships, possibly work with the horses?
Or physical spaces like a residence halls or International Center Institute in the centre law allows things to connect but also allows him to get involved through Steve Jobs and as coordinators for cultural events, for example. But we also have over 800 clubs. We have a bunch of campus employment opportunities and internships, so how students really find other schemes for passion about making a change in building?
So there really is a space for people of all walks of life here on campus. We all have different stories, but you'll hear from all these alone that they really enjoyed their experience on campus because it was a very friendly and welcoming environment for them to become who they are now.
Alright, do you breath right? That was a lot of information, but I do want to wrap up my formal presentation with a timeline of things that are coming up. So your first deadline is May 1st, which is your deadline for.
To submit your statement of intensive register, also known as the Sir.
Uh, once you've committed that, you'll see that your housing application deadline will follow soon after.
You're my admissions portal, which is how you log in to find out your admission decision is really your main resource to know Wat deadlines are coming up and what your next steps are. After you submitted your Sir.
And so some of you I saw were already on our WhatsApp Group. But this WhatsApp group is a way to get connected with other students who are admitted from your area. It's also way to keep in touch with myself and my colleagues in regards to answering any questions you may have about EC Davis.
You just want to scan your QQR code that is on the slide and it will be beautiful, like to set up the WhatsApp account.
Already, so you've already got accomplished. The hardest part, you know, coming through the applications take out those exams and waiting for your admission decision. Now that you've been admitted, it's exciting, take advantage and it really enjoyed that time. But also, you know, take your time in making that decision and figure out what University you would want to attend.
It's really an exciting time to be in for other students and we are really hoping and excited to have you essentially taking some Davis to be your home for the next four years.
Elizabeth Baierlein
06:22:07 PM
How far is Davis from downtown?
Devon Bohart
06:22:08 PM
Hi Chloe, yes! Our campus recreation department offers horseback riding lessons through our equestrian center. They also offer employment opportunities for students
So with that I'm going to go to the questions. It looks like our first question here is how far is Davis from downtown?
Tara Polackal
06:22:15 PM
Do UC students get discounts for the national parks or other destinations?
So Davis is barely a block away from UC Davis. Sorry, downtown is literally a block away from UC Davis. It's right there, and if you were to look at a map it would be downtown Dallas surrounding the campus. So everything is very slow.
One other question is, do you see students get discounts for national parks and other destinations?
Eloise Yalovitser
06:22:53 PM
what are the arts like at davis?
You are musicians. Do not get discounts for unnatural partial destinations.
Ethan Kuo
06:23:07 PM
When do freshmen arrive in the fall?
Another question is what? What are the arts like? So yes, we have a lot of majors, alot of on the science related, but we have a pretty robust arts and Humanities College and Department of well, our arts include everything from orchestra and bands that actually play for the public. But we have our marching band so that you could participate in.
Initially, and we also have our Theatre and Dance Department which will post or have plays and productions both within our on campus, but some of them also do internships within the city of Davis with local theater productions.
Meghna Chatterji
06:23:47 PM
Can you minor across colleges?
So when do freshman arrive in the flaw as a quarter school, we start school in late September. So around September 23rd, but you can find the specific dates online as well.
Danielle Joubran
06:24:10 PM
is double majoring doable/common?
Can you minor across colleges? Yes. So one of the things that is really nice about being a student interested in multiple different areas is that it Davis does make it easy for students to take disciplines from all of our different colleges.
Tara Polackal
06:24:19 PM
By what year are you supposed to declare your major?
It is just have to work with a major advisor to make sure that they have the proper classes. I can schedule the process that they need.
Nora Webb
06:24:42 PM
Why did you choose to go to Davis?
So what are you supposed to declare your major? If you're coming in undeclared, you have some time. Your advisor will work with you to make sure you're meeting the requirements you need for graduation while also exploring major objects. Usually you have about two years to declare a major.
Elizabeth Baierlein
06:24:52 PM
what is the atmosphere on campus?
Kai Hua
06:25:06 PM
Is there a requirement for living on campus? If so, is it possible to cook?
So why did I choose to go to UC Davis? So I am from what we call the Bay Area or the San Francisco area and one of the things that I love. How you see Davis was that welcoming environment, students and staff alike were very approachable and I love how we did open campus was which was very different from the city that I grew up in.
The atmosphere on campus. I like to say that on campus we are a very were very laid back and friendly. So those are my 2 words for the environment off campus.
Is there a primer for living on campus? Is so? Is it possible to cook?
Devon Bohart
06:25:58 PM
Double majoring, depending on the majors, is definitely doable. You will just want to be aware of major requirements and your timeline to graduation.
Yeah, so there's no requirement for living on campus except for you to submit your housing application on time and just submit the housing deposit on time as well. But every student is guaranteed a spot to live on campus their first year, so as long as you submit those two things by the deadline, you will have a spot and then you can select your preferences on that.
And yes, you can cook, though it is limited. Each floor will tend to have at least a stove and microwave for students to be able to cook, and then there tends to be a larger kitchen that on the main floor where students still usually inhabit.
Or we creational activities that?
Hot money do low income students get discounts?
Chloe Barry
06:26:35 PM
for recreational activities that cost money, do low income students get discounts?
So are we creational activities? Sometimes will happy waivers but it will depend on the actual Department, but most of our extracurriculars on campus like internship or even clubs will be free for all.
Carter Mikkelsen

Zoe Pringle
06:27:25 PM
What kinds of jobs can UC Davis students get on campus, and What kinds of jobs do students get after graduation?
Devon Bohart
06:27:25 PM
Hi Aidan! We would encourage you to contact our financial aid office to discuss your options
I would say that depends on the individual sport. Homecoming for football tends to be a really large are that we have a homecoming week or possibly plastic where we play against our rival Sacramento State is also a very big event. Or like in the last few years we've had a big turnout for schools going to our basketball games for both men's and women's basketball. Because we have made it to the March Madness bracket.
Danielle Joubran
06:27:34 PM
Same question as Aidan
Uhm, but typically on for every day. I'm sporting events. It will be a big turn out, it just won't be as large as those big event.
Is the produce from the farmers market cheaper since his local produce and do meal plans worked for the farmers market?
So the farmers market, uhm, will usually be, um, compara bulto. What I've seen in the grocery stores around Davis.
Jordanna-Carol Udai
06:28:06 PM
is there greek life?
Riley Gallagher
06:28:16 PM
Are there suite-style dorms?
In terms of meal plans, working for the farmers market, I'm not 100% sure on that if I'm being honest, I usually spends all my AGI cash, which is part of which is part of the real plan on snacks right next to the residence halls ferry late night.
What kind of jobs can you see Davis didn't get on campus and what kinds of jobs did you get after graduation?
Elizabeth Baierlein
06:28:31 PM
how many years is housing guaranteed?
So you can do everything from work as a nutritionist, assistance our staff, kind of Wellness program on campus to being a double Decker driver bus driver to beating assuming soon advisor. I actually existing advisor, an orientation leader. One I was there. You can really pretty much find you can also get paid to coordinate our picnic day, which is our.

06:29:24 PM
Is it complex to switch major if I found out that I don’t like it after declaring?
But in terms of graduation, so um, it really will depend on your field. But one things are campus. Those to prepare seems to get jobs after graduation. Is host, interview, resume, cover letter workshops throughout the year and one and one advising appointment as well as the host for large career fairs every year.
One each quarter and we have a fourth one specifically for our engineering and physical Sciences, but we have easily over 100,000 employers come over to each other's career fairs to talk to see whether it's for internships or for jobs after graduation.
Jordanna-Carol Udai

Is it easy to find quiet study spaces around campus? 24 hour library or nah?
So is there a Greek life? Yes, we have our official Greek life with the like big letters and which houses. But we also have some more informal three weeks on campus that you can join, so you'll really find that it's through our streams for center and.
Erin Kim
06:30:12 PM
I haven't received my financial aid package yet. Should I reach out to the financial aid office?
Super summer involvement.
Is there a suite style dorm yes so RT style doors will be quite so?
And they are. We had that for the most renovated area right now.
Is it complex to switch majors if I found out that I don't like it after declaring?
So, uhm, students are allowed to change majors on campus. We do requires.
Meghna Chatterji

Veronica Zendejas
06:30:58 PM
Hello Erin - we are hoping to have all the financial aid packages done next week and you will receive and email from financial aid.
We at least one quarter before they can officially submit paperwork to change their major. If you're hoping to change your major, though, you can talk to your advisor as early as orientation in terms of planning, your course is to make sure that you're kind of moving along the major.

Can freshmen get involved in research during their first year?
Nora Webb
06:31:20 PM
What student resources are available? writing centers, etc
Is it easy to find quite spaces around campus 24 hour library or no? Yes, so we do have each of your residence Hall floors will have a study Lounge which is supposed to be quiet for students to be able to work together. But we do have a 24 hour room in the library. It's only accessible for UC Davis students, so you do need to use your UC Davis ID card to get in.
Yeah, that's right, that's what it is.

Here is a link to a video about the dorms- https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=6&v=DxC9o2Sp14U&feature=emb_logo
OK, so can freshman get involved in research during their first year? Yes, so students are able to participate in actually particulars, internships, jobs as early as their first year. I would recommend waiting at least until your second quarter to get involved, because the quota system is pretty quick. 1/4 system will be timely blog, so you can have a mid term as early as your second week on campus.

i saw a video that talked about a tutoring center? Can you expand more on that (what students are able to tutor...)
What's new resources are available, writing centers etc. So yes, we do have a writing center that will help you with all those essays as they come along. We also have tutoring on campus and within the residence halls, so you could literally get tutoring from any of our professional advisors in your pajamas. Just walking to your residence Hall.

What types of meal plans? Housing?
Right there so that you could even printing as well the computer lab there.

06:32:52 PM
Hi Meghna, most of our graduate programs are separate from the undergraduate degrees, however I was able to find an integrated BS/MS program, for Biological Systems Engineers. I would encourage you to look into the department you are interested in for more information
Oh roommates or is there a remake with selection that the school so?
Aidan Dugan
06:33:15 PM
Is that something I can do myself or should I have my parents get in contact with the office?
So you can pick your own roommate if you have someone in mind already. However, the housing application will also have some sort of roommates questionnaires, so that if you don't have anybody specific in mind, we will try our best to pair you up with somebody who has a very similar lifestyle. So early birds with early birds and night Owls with night owl.
So what are the major differences between segundo torso in part though I'm super biased. I lived in segundo my first year and I thought it was perfect location right across the street from Rite Aid, so made getting late night snacks really easy.
Devon Bohart
06:33:49 PM
Aidan, you can definitely reach out to financial aid yourself, and/or ask your parents to contact them.

I've never been to campus and can't visit because of corona. How would you suggest I get a feel for the environment of the school without visiting? I already took the virtual tour
Micaela Gomez
06:34:11 PM
Do we pick our own roommates or is there a roommate quiz/selection process that the school hosts?
Is also really close to the softball field so we could go and watch my friends play and then I always heard that seeking their dining Commons with the most popular dining Commons but the main differences apart from location is kind of the arrangement that is within each housing area so true sero is usually triples or sub windows will usually be doubles and then?
Our party will be that Sweet style living so.
That's the main difference, and then each area will be closer to different.
Tara Polackal
06:34:33 PM
^same question as Aidan with visiting campus
Passwords for different areas. But to be on this campus is so centralized that you can live in tercero as a arts and Humanities major and still make it to their class within the same amount of time as though we were living in cities.
So what types of in your plans? So you get to pick how many meal plans or how many meal plan?
Rhea Khurana
06:35:04 PM
if you decide to change your major, do you have to complete the credits within the major you applied to initially before switching
How many meals do you want in each meal plan? So if you plan on eating on campus at the dining Commons and every day, then you will select.
Real, but it's really up to you. You can also select more aggy cash, which is kind of like credits to use our residential or convenience stores or at the silo up the coho if you wanted to change it up. But the I think the best part about the meal plans is that you each meal is more of like a a point of access, and once you're there you can actually eat as much as you want.
OK so I have another question here.

when asking the office of financial aid if our financial aid packages can get revised, when would the revised financial aid packages come out? would i know before having to do the SIR?
OK so yeah, so if you've already picked in the virtual tour, you kind of see how the beautiful photos and see what kind of looks like physically, but my recommendation would also be to really talk to our students. We should be having some big events for our admitted students via webinar as well, but other opportunities for you to talk to students via through panels and really hearing different opinions about why students like.
Um, living on campus and what they're doing and all the opportunities you'll see that things are very sincere. Love talking about their experience on campus, but that would be my recommendation. Just getting different opinions to really see what students are like on campus.
If you decide to change your major, do you have to complete the credits within the major you apply to initially before switching? Never, so once you switched your major you will focus on the new majors requirements.
Is Davis on a semester or quarter schedule? So um, UC Davis is on the quarter schedule, so we have 3/4 fall, winter spring. We start fall in late September. That goes through the summer. We have winter break then continue in winter for winter quarter from January through mid March have spring break and then we finish off the year in spring quarter.

What do I do if my financial aid package still is not available?
Chloe Barry
06:38:47 PM
oh okay!
When is orientation, orientation will start in late summer. There will be. It will be an online component to introduce you to some things and then about a week right before classes start. Orientation in person will take place, so you'll be placed with students with your major. You'll get to meet the people living in your residence Hall.
Marriott, it's gonna be this very large events to help you really find your community from the get go.

Will this be a replay? Got disconnected for a moment. Like to hear what I missed. Thanks!
Oh, So what do I do if my financial aid package is still not available?
Financial aid is still being finalized, so just bear with us while we get that ready for you. But as soon as it's ready for you is will be.
On your my admissions portal for you to see.

06:39:41 PM
Is it possible to talk to a senior at Davis with my major?
And will this be a replay? Yeah, so they get disconnected. Sorry this will be. This is recorded so you will be able to access this later and I believe it will be sent to you via email.
And you can also locate it through the registration page.
Rachel Stern
06:39:59 PM
is there a transferable credit database? also, is there a cap on the number of college credits that one can transfer?
Is it possible to talk to a senior activities with my major? Go ahead and message us through what's up and we'll see what we can do in terms of getting you connected with the UC Davis.
And is there a transferable credit database? So if you're referring to AP and IB, we do have our AP and IB charts on through our general course catalog. The lot is one way you can check out what.
Pretty popular coming in with you will also get some of that advising through orientation, so were major advisor and you colleges either will be able to really explain that information more in depth for you.
Veronica Zendejas
06:40:40 PM
Any other questions?
And also, is there a cap on the number of college credits that one can transfer?
Um, so we evaluate to see what courses we will take, but students will be capped at a maximum of 100 and five quarters.

06:41:20 PM
I wonder the details of entering exams?
Alright, So what is there to do in Davis? Uhm, so apart from the 800 plus plus that we have on campus, the sports we have a really cool Art Museum that we just opened up about a year ago. So you'll see some pretty well known exhibits there. We also have had a team making class through our Confucius Institute in the International Center.
I need to learn how to make pro bogeys, which are some really cool Polish pasta cuisine on campus are international center will allow you to engage with international students if you want a cultural experience without studying abroad.
Also on campus we have our mondavi center so you can watch some of our students student bands play there, but you can also watch professionals from all over the world perform there. Whether it's for music or dancing. I saw this beautiful ballet show there about two years ago and we've also hosted some pretty big names there, like Drake and Chance the Rapper so our students have pretty much.
Micaela Gomez
06:42:44 PM
Do we pick our own roommates or is there a roommate quiz/selection process that the school hosts?
Everything on campus. But if you're looking to explore without what else is out there beyond Davis, you can go to Sacramento. Need to go to San Francisco. Alot of our students will go to San Francisco on the weekend to really see with that city has to offer it and just explore California.
And Lokoli within the city, because we also have bar city theater, which has some pretty interesting movies showcasing browser here.
What is the weather like in Davis? So there's definitely no snow in Davis. If you want some snow and we do actually have a snowboarding club on campus, you will have to drive about 2 hours to Lake Tahoe and you know. But we have over 250 days of of sunshine. It tends to be really nice and warm for both of the year, I would say.
And yeah, so it's a very nice California weather there.
What are the blue and gold programs so blue and gold is a financial aid program.
And someone else was wondering what the details of entering exams so.
Tara Polackal
06:44:01 PM
cultural clubs? religious groups?
Certain classes will have placement exams and more information about when you take placement exams and how you are scored with placement in stands and what they mean in terms of course, but just rayshon will be covered in Aggie 101 or the first online portion of orientation.
Do we figure on roommates or is there able make questionnaire, uhm?
So yeah, so you can pick your roommate if you have somebody in mind and then you would each indicate wanting to each other's roommate, but there also is a web in our questionnaire in case you are open to a new experience or don't have any one specific in my.
So cultural clubs, religious groups, etc on campus. So yes, cultural pilots. Even religious without campus are definitely available for students that are included in that 100 plus account for our campus. You can actually find sororities and fraternities that are culturally over logistic based, but we do have some religious centers on campus. On myself was part of the Davis Christian fellowship literally a block away from campus.
That's one way to build community. All of our plugs or a lot of our plugs tend to actually go out and promote themselves during that first week, which we call a week or welcome week on campus. So you'll see a lot of aprons advertising certain clubs or also seems just cabling at the Memorial Union to get.
Block by also really great way to get large like 3 water bottles or coupons for pizza.
Zoe Pringle
06:45:51 PM
what are other events I should look out for to learn more about UC Davis?
Devon Bohart
06:45:53 PM
The clubs are all available on this database, so you can see everything we currently have. You can also easily create your own club! https://aggielife.ucdavis.edu/organizations
Oh yes, we also have our center Christine Involvement Department on Cupid, which will allow you to look for extracurriculars online. Or you can talk to an advisor to help you find an extracurricular that needs what you're looking for. That type of community that you want to be a part of, or also even just like opportunities to get involved.
So what are other events that I should lookout for to learn more about you, see David.
Our admitted student reception sometime next month. It will be in an online format, but we're hoping that it will be about a week long when you get to engage with students on campus and hear their experiences but also talked to some different programs and departments on campus that talk about what we have to offer. It's going to be called experience lives and it's going to be the week of April.
Come for the entire week, so make sure you tune in. We will be sending emails with links for registration and more information about that.
Oh, I'm sorry. In the experience life will also be having more QA sessions each day so that you can ask more questions.

Meghna Chatterji
06:47:37 PM
Sorry that sent twice
So I got this question on the scale from 1 to 10. How would you rate the bobot? So I think depending on who you ask, each person has a different favorite football places. Because yes, we do have multiple robots places within downtown, but also on the campus.
I would say my favorite one is Sharti, literally a block across from campus. I think they have the best car to Milky there.
Tara Polackal
06:48:00 PM
which housing situation/residence is the best in your opinion and why?
Aidan Dugan
06:48:08 PM
Can I still reach the financial aid office by phone with everything going on or should I email
OK, so which housing situation, um or residence is the best in your opinion and why?
But the window was the residence area that I lived in, and I thought that was a really great location for me. It's on the corner. Northeast corner of campus, there called the highrises. I just thought it was pretty great, centrally located to the Memorial Union. It was also really close to the Ark or the gym that we have on campus. So I really like that because it really motivated me to take advantage of that.
And across the street you will come across the street in Upland Block. You will run into the student Health Center as well as cool.
In regards to financial aid being open and whether or not you can contact them via phone, they are close right now, so I would highly recommend emailing them because they are working virtually.
Divide the link with financial aid information in the chat as well.

06:49:24 PM
thanks!!
So I have a question about what is it? UC Davis there you type that you believe to be true.
Zoe Pringle
06:49:26 PM
What is a UC Davis "stereotype" that you believe to be true?
Ethan Kuo
06:49:28 PM
How bad is the cow smell by Tercero?
I think the biggest stereotype that you will hear about Davis that I think is true for sure is that we are very friendly. So my first day I tend to get lost really easily and so my first day of classes I ended up taking the longest route ever to my class and I thought it was going to be late so I was panicking and some people were walking by and they saw that I.
The stress that they actually stopped and asked me where I was headed and they walked me to my class so people are still willing to help on campus and not really contribute to that community.
How bad is the snow? How smell by Tuesday or Wednesday is too bad, but it is noticeable. You definitely get used to.
I would say most people who live in through several. When my friends were living in for cereal that said that like when you transition from winter to spring, that's the time it smells the strongest. But other than that it's not too bad.
Put your throat is they are the newest doors, so they're really nice, and it's a really big community, so students often take advantage. One thing actually about housing is that we do have residential. You have like being flooring, so we call them community living dorm flooring.
And so here part of your housing application will allow you to indicate whether or not you like to be partners on this type of floor. Some of the ones that we have are culturally based. We have a rainbow floor for LG BT QIA folks or folks who would like to be integrated into that community, and we've had other ones that tend to be focused on recreation or like hobby or even major focus.
So one year there was one day software engineering for engineering majors. An another year we had one for students who identified music as a hobby, so they they change him a little bit every year. But it's definitely an option that you can indicate.
Um and one other thing about the dining Commons and kinds of meal plan. So one of my favorite memories about being in the dining Commons is, or was Harry Potter night?
So our dining Commons stuff are very creative, not just in the food or the dishes that they have for students to accommodating dietary restrictions, or even just knew and recipes, but they love to host the themed lights, so Harry Potter, it was really cool. Desert had like what it looks like like smoke coming out. We had a lot of people actually dress up with their case.
Veronica Zendejas
06:52:54 PM
Any more questions?
I'm sorry, but those, those Harry Potter robes and bring their ones which I had no idea that was part of your packing list as a freshman student. But I thought that was really cool.
Another night we also have a Hawaiian luau, so it was a very interesting.
Very interesting decorations. It was very beautiful. Thing was delicious. Everything have pineapple so the dining Commons is fun and if you want to get involved you can definitely submit your own recipe and if it becomes popular enough then they will actually keep it there on the rotating basis.
So one might become kind of.
OK, I do have a question in regards to moving company. Most students use.
Tara Polackal
06:53:43 PM
moving company most students use?
Meghna Chatterji
06:53:50 PM
How far is the nearest beach...
Most students purchased the the materials or the furniture and all of that that they need at Davis. And then they just transport it to wherever they're living. However, all of our residence halls will provide basic furniture such as betting.
Desks and chairs. You are allowed to bring a mini fridge and a microwave on so you can buy those things at Davis and just bring it to the door along with audio.
Uh, one other question. I would see it looks like we have a question about the nearest speech so are near Beach is gonna be about 2 to 2 1/2 hours away. Come in.
Tara Polackal
06:54:36 PM
where do students store their things after the year is over (storage space)?
So I would say a little bit North of San Francisco.
This is very beautiful, so they have very beautiful hiking trails. You can see some banana slugs there. I would say that's the closest beach that we have. Or you can also visit our but Dega Bay Marine Laboratory, which is basically in that statement.
So where does Sears store their things after the year is over?
You do have the option of renting a storage space.
Uhm, but it's so yeah, there there storage spaces for students to use if they want to.
Keep their things that if you are living, if you choose to live on campus for a second year, then you could use the storage facility and just keep it there for until you return in the fall.
Um, if you choose to live in an apartment your second year outside of campus, then you will probably be buying your furniture like a bed in her death, so most things will wait until it's time for them to move into their apartments to buy all that stuff. And then they'll just take their clothes home.
A mini fridge and or a microwave while you are living on campus in the doors so you don't even have to buy those bigger pieces of furniture while living in the dorms. If you really wanted to just bring your clothes and take him back with you over the summer before you come back for the fall in your 2nd.
Tara Polackal
06:56:25 PM
do most students live on campus or apartments?
Another possible housing do most things live on campus or apartment.
Danielle Joubran
06:56:28 PM
is it easy to get an apartment off campus?
Uhm, I would say most students live on campus. Their first year. I believe it's close to 90% of students live on campus their first year in the second year. A lot of our students do decide to live in apartments because by then they have found some friends that they really love to live with and have built their community. And they want a bit more space, like a large kitchen for example. A lot of our apartments will also have their own.
Schools for the residents and you can also have like parking apartments so students love the flexibility that an apartment will give them. I would say if you're living off campus anywhere in the city of Davis, it takes no more than 15 minutes to get from your apartment to campus. Whether that's freaking or via our unitrans public bus system for students. So a lot of things don't find for two minutes of commuting.
Too much of a hassle and decide to live off campus, but like I said, the second here.
Available to meet people.
And is it easy to get more profit after?
I'm so you'll see that students will take advantage of our apartment there that we host in spring, but a lot of our students will look inside places around the same time. Again that college town feel makes it very accessible for students to know what their next step is and find the next living arrangement.
Alright, so I think those are all the questions. Uhm so if you were able to get your question answered or you want to get more specific about certain things, please feel free to get us through what's up. We will be checking in that on a continuous basis and then we will be getting that email about our experience.
Experience with lyrics. Tears coming soon. OK but thank you so much for joining me I really enjoyed the questions, especially the ones with Boba and cows but hope to talk to you soon through WhatsApp.
Veronica Zendejas
