Linh Dang

04:02:30 PM
Can we get more aid from uc Davis if another uc offers more aid ?
Can win so pretty much I'm hope. Is everybody able to see this? Just want to make sure it is able to see the screen. If not, please let me know.

Mitsuko Leonard
04:02:47 PM
@Ruanne the deadline for housing was yesterday but you can still apply
Steven Igou
04:03:02 PM
thank you
Thanks James. Are something Zoe, alright, So what we're going to be talking about is pretty much the types of aid that is available to you guys. My awards, our privacy policy. 'cause that is important scholarships the 21 or 22 appeals 'cause there are options for that as well, where you can appeal for additional aid if you need it. The important dates at any online resources.
So the types of aid that is available are grants. We have the federal, state, and institutional. We have loans, work, study program and scholarships. So just remember though that this grants and these scholarships or is going to be a that you do not need to repay back, so that's going to be free aid. Everything else pretty much like loans that is made that you are borrowing, so that will need to be paid back.
Ala Rahman
04:03:35 PM
Regarding loans, can we accept/deny them per quarter or is it for the entire year?
Daisey Jeannette Sandoval
04:03:57 PM
@Kevin we would not offer additional aid based on other UCs
Arianna Rose Ahmed
04:04:04 PM
@Ala you accept for the year but you can reduce/increase or cancel the loan during the year
My award so the estimated aid so you will see pretty much a box of what your aid is estimated at a, what the amount of aid that you are eligible for after filling out the financial aid application, and then all of us being able to put in the remainder of the aid that that you're eligible for. So please make sure that when you are looking at your my awards that you are reading everything carefully, that your understanding. If not, you do need to make sure that you give us a call so that we can help you out with understanding.
Daisey Jeannette Sandoval
04:04:30 PM
@Ling Yes you can submit a loan change in aid after July 15th if you change your mind
So my award estimated aid, so you're going to be seen all of your wards, your grants, your scholarships, the loans that you have been offered and you're going to be able to see them in three different within the three different quarters so it breaks it all down for you. And it makes it easier for you to be able to understand a pretty much what every quarter is going to be looking at. That way you are able to better budget the amount of money that you may be needing for each term.
And then you have and then you also have the full range of what your estimated cost of attendance is. So please make sure to also read every single section that's on there. Get that full understanding of what your tuition is with your housing costs are with your transportation costs are so that it makes it a lot easier for you to be able to budget accordingly.
Ka Wai Sit
04:05:08 PM
What is the estimated net cost for on-campus student?
Nav Toor
04:05:14 PM
In the awards section of financial aid how do we see how much we will have to pay
Alright, so remaining costs, so you're going to be seeing pretty much the amount of what your program costs, what the financial aid comes in, and then what the remaining costs are. So that could be anywhere from, possibly, you know, let's say like $100 we are able to cover almost everything except for maybe $100 left that's on on your account. So what what happens with that? So that's where you can give us a call. Ask us any questions regarding how we can help.
Daisey Jeannette Sandoval
04:05:53 PM
@Nav In the Financial Aid Summary you will see a breakdown of the year and per quarter
Out in any remaining cost I may can be out out of pocket, or it can be also possibly help out with a scholarship. We will connect you with our scholarships Department or it can be, you know, maybe possibly getting out another loan, but definitely give us a call and let us know if at any point you do need assistance with trying to find out how to be able to cover any remaining costs.
George Aguel
04:06:00 PM
How are awards disbursed?
And then here it is just breaking it down a little bit more for you.
Arianna Rose Ahmed
04:06:08 PM
@Ka Wai the On Campus Apartment Cost of Attendance is 35981 for the year but net cost depends on your financial aid package, loans you accept, and the type of housing and meal plan chosen
Sukhdip Kaur
04:06:31 PM
When will we know if we got scholarships after filling out the UCD scholarship in March as a incoming transfer?
My awards will cost examples, was just another example showing you how it shows on your my bill. Anything that has been authorized. Again the remaining costs and then other options for remaining costs such as you know, the loans, the unsubsidized loans, the outside scholarships in any personal savings.
Daisey Jeannette Sandoval
04:06:34 PM
@George Awards are disbursed each quarter
Your mind words under the award Section tab is where you're going to be able to figure out the.
The status of any loans that you have been offered, all of your loans will always be offered. They will never be accepted for you. So if you do decide that you want to borrow from those loans, that this is where you're going to be able to see what requirements are needed.
Mandy Benning
04:07:08 PM
If we need additional aid that wasn’t offered, so we have to get a personal loan or are there additional options we can look into through government offered aid
Arianna Rose Ahmed
04:07:24 PM
@Sukhdip Scholarships will continue to be awarded throughout the summer and even throughout the regular school year as funds become available
We'll see right onto the right hand side. If something has been incomplete. If something is pending, and that will pretty much let you know where the processes of each award it does take, you know some time in order for the award to change from, let's say you know that it's incomplete to pending in the now to being satisfied, so please do as soon as you do end up accepting any awards, but please just give it a little bit of time. If you see that it takes way too long, like let's say like 2 weeks in order for something to change.
Sarah Cordingley
04:07:37 PM
Am I allowed to take summer classes at Davis or my current community college if I was admitted for Fall 2021?
Daisey Jeannette Sandoval
04:07:41 PM
@Amanda If you need additional funding apart from what is offered you may look into private loans if there is room in your budget.
Then at that point you do want to give us a call. That way we can try to see you know if there is something going on on the Department of Education, side underwear, the process for your awards.
Emily Luo
04:07:51 PM
will the amount for my pell grant change if I decide to commute instead of living on campus?
Ana Gonzalez
04:08:16 PM
The loan awards do we have to pay right away? or we pay when we graduate ?
Alright, so my awards requirements again, this is just pretty much just showing you the requirements along with the links on where to complete all of the requirements needed in order for the loan to be processed. You will also see anything that is inactive on the bottom part of the page and that would pretty much be let's say any loans that you have not accepted. So if you have accepted your subsidized loan or your direct loan it will show the status on that.
Daisey Jeannette Sandoval
04:08:17 PM
@Emily No, changing your housing would not change your Pell as Pell is awarded based on EFC
And then it will show any other requirements needed. Let's say that you were selected for verification. It will show pretty much in that area what is still needed and if it has been completed or not.
And then changing a request and important links. So this is important in order for us for you to be able to let us know.
Linh Dang
04:08:39 PM
how will off campus housing affect my aids?
Sebastian Lowe
04:08:48 PM
how do we file an appeal?
Tyler Lafrenais
04:09:00 PM
When will the 2021-22 financial aid appeal forms be available?
Arianna Rose Ahmed
04:09:07 PM
@Sarah as an incoming student you are eligible to attend UC Davis in the summer, I would suggest talking to Office of Registrar and you would need to submit a 2020-2021 FAFSA to UC Davis. You can take summer classes at a CC but you cannot get aid at 2 different institutions at the same time
Any additional aid that you are receiving as well as if you want to make changes to your housing. If you want to make changes to your loans, either you want to increase or decrease it. So you really want to make sure that you utilized this section of the my awards in order to be able to let us know what it is that you need. Another important part of this section is the third party authorization, so a lot of you are just going to be busy, busy, busy, busy, busy just, you know going through.
Of your studies. And So what? The third party authorization does is it lets others like, let's say a parent or a spouse or sibling, be able to call our office, and pretty much ask questions on your behalf. So this does help out. In case you know you are busy and you're unable to give us a call to, you know figure out the status of alone or figure out the status of a scholarship that you're waiting to be posted.
And let us be able to assist that individual and assist you in the end.
Kimberly Hofmann
04:09:56 PM
If I receive Cal Grant, when will that be reflected in MyAwards? And can I use that money in lieu of federal loans?
Bradly Booth
04:09:57 PM
My admissions says deadline to apply for housing is June 4th
Student privacy policy. So this is again the third party authorization form, so it is part of the family educational rights and Privacy Act, FERPA of 1974, where pretty much we need to have a written consent saying that you are letting this individual ask questions and we are able to give them information. So it is important for us to be able to have that written consent.
And a little bit more about the privacy policy and what we can and cannot release. So pretty much this is what we are able to release when you authorize someone.
Mitsuko Leonard
04:10:29 PM
@Bradly OMG! You're right, for transfers the Housing deadline is JUNE 4. so sorry about that mix up!
Daisey Jeannette Sandoval
04:10:31 PM
@Tyler The Family Contribution Appeal opens July 1st. The other appeals become available October 1st.
By phone, this is what we can discuss is where to find and how to access the information. Fast Fun DREAM Act application data provide the status of non fast for DREAM Act application information and then just general information about financial aid.
Linh Dang
04:10:39 PM
if i chose off campus housing, how will that affect my aid?
And then additional information. So yes, C, which is the estimated family contribution number.
Award amount values listed on the fast floor California DREAM Act application and then refund amounts.
Melanie Gallegos-Campos
04:10:58 PM
The deadline for the housing application for transfer students is June 1 right?
Daisey Jeannette Sandoval
04:11:11 PM
@Linh If you were to go from on campus to off campus there would be a reduction in your financial aid
Scholarships scholarships is another way for you to be able to fund your education. Your application for admission. So this is your initial applications to the school is your application for scholarships. After that there is an application that you can fill out in order to be able to see if you're eligible for any UC Davis scholarships. But your initial application.
Victoria Alexander
04:11:17 PM
What if cal grant didn't show up but blue and gold did? I submitted my fafsa and listed davis (I also see cal grant on other uc packages)
Is going to be the one that the scholarship Department looks at to see if if you may be eligible.
Mitsuko Leonard
04:11:31 PM
@Melanie, it's June 1. the deatline to say yes to Davis is June 1
Alright, so the types that are available are just pretty much it ranges so it can range anything from the the program that you're in to any interest. So you really want to make sure that you enter into our scholarships Department or website. That way you can see all the different types that are in there and you can apply for whatever it may be suitable for for you.
Daisey Jeannette Sandoval
04:11:52 PM
@Victoria If you are eligible for Cal Grant the University Grant will get swapped by Cal Grant in August when we receive the roster from CSAC.
Shannon Marshall
04:11:55 PM
Do you have to pay back work study?
Sarah Cordingley
04:11:57 PM
My message isn't sending (T T)
Arianna Rose Ahmed
04:11:58 PM
@Kimberly CSAC will be sending the roster of students in mid-August. Any financial aid will first go towards your tuition before applying to any other charges or disbursing as a refund. If you have enough grants with the Cal Grant to cover your charges then you can use those funds instead of loans
If you have any questions you can always contact the scholarships Department as well and they can actually help and directing you to any other scholarships anywhere else that they know of that will be able to help with funding your education. Just know that you should never ever pay for a scholarship you always want to make sure that is free.
Daisey Jeannette Sandoval
04:12:27 PM
@Shannon No you do not pay back work study.
Mitsuko Leonard
04:12:30 PM
@Sarah it's a moderated chat so some are getting approved and others are being saved to address live and out loud :)
Alejandro Ramos Hurtado
04:12:35 PM
Is there a significant or minor difference in aid between off campus and on campus?
And that you are not giving them money for any reason. So if you do end up getting a scholarship though, it is going to be with the cashier's office where you're going to be submitting. So sometimes some scholarships will end up giving you the funds, and then you would have to turn it in over to the cashier's office. So on the screen is the address to to them so that you can give them the information for the scholarships.
Mario Guzman Rodriguez
04:12:57 PM
Where can I make an appointment to meet one-on-one with a financial aid counselor?
Alright, so 2122 appeals, so we do have the option we give our students and we happily give our students the option to be able to appeal their eight. We understand fully, fully understand, specially right now that there are instances where your income is not currently what it was two years ago. So we have the family contribution appeal which is available July 1st.
Daisey Jeannette Sandoval
04:13:20 PM
@Mario You can call our office and they will schedule a Zoom with an Officer
Elizabeth Miller
04:13:30 PM
Typically, is our aid amount the same each year?
And it's pretty much considers what you are currently making right now to what was made. You know, two years ago. So there could be a huge difference. You know from then and now. So if that is you, if that is your family, you do have the option of submitting the family contribution appeal. So please make sure to log into our website. It's right there on the screen for you to write down, or you can even go into our.
Financial aid website and on the search engine just do family contribution appeal and it should take you right to that page. Please read all of the information on there as we do. Ask for documentation and then also if you do submit one, please make sure that you keep an eye on your email address as we or email as we will be asking. We could possibly be asking I should say for additional information to support what you have stated on your statement.
Daisey Jeannette Sandoval
04:14:19 PM
@Elizabeth Each year financial aid depends on the information reported on your FAFSA/Dream Act. If income does not change financial aid may be similar.
Arianna Rose Ahmed
04:14:29 PM
@Alejandro, the difference in cost of attendance (and thus offered financial aid including grants and loans) for On Campus Apartments and Off Campus, is about $3300
Shivam Khosla
04:14:35 PM
As we got informed that for completing the engineering it takes almost 2 and half years. so my question is that is my financial aid only going to cover the first 2 years after the transfer. or it will cover my expenses until the time I will finish my degree?
We also have the cost of attendance appeal, so the cost of attendance appeal pretty much is a considerate consideration of expenses that you are accruing during the academic year. So there are instances, especially sometimes with some students, where they possibly get an apartment late and so therefore they have to, you know, get it. You know, a single apartment by themselves and their possible paying a little too much then what they intended, and So what we do is we pretty much take that consideration.
And we look to see if we're able to increase your cost of attendance to help you out with your living expenses. So that is another option that you guys have.
Play missing persons in the cat at my alarm. Didn't want no don't want to do.
If they don't want to use the health of their health insurance, they would need to contact the health, the student services and they will be able to pretty much determined regarding their health insurance. So we don't make that determination for them, so they will want to contact the Health Center regarding that.
Daisey Jeannette Sandoval
04:15:28 PM
@Shivam You are eligible for up to 6 years of financial aid, if you need additional time you are also able to submit a maximum timeframe appeal.
'cause they may need to provide a documentation showing that they have insurance, either on their own or with family.
Sebastian Lowe
04:15:57 PM
How do we apply for an appeal like a change in income or family situation?
Kim, alright so important dates so July 15th is when you will start to complain. Any loan requirements? The 16th is when the Inter transferring document deadline is so you guys want to make sure that to document these dates and then the fall fee payment deadline is September 15th.
King, any other questions?
Jesus Bastian
04:16:09 PM
I have medical-cal which is my proper health insurance, where can I submit my health insurance so I don’t have to pay for SHIP. Also, will it lower my cost of attendance?
Suba Kanchadapu
04:16:22 PM
could you explain what title IV fund authorization is?
Arianna Rose Ahmed
04:16:25 PM
@Sebastian Financial Aid and Scholarships provides a Family Contribution Appeal regarding changes to a family's financial situation, based on new information submitted by the student. On exception, Financial Aid and Scholarships will review and consider changes to the student's available aid based on the information provided. Family Contribution appeals for 2021-22 will be made available in July. Please visit our website for more information and instructions at https://financialaid.ucdavis.edu/faforms/family-contribution-review
OK, so on line resources please make sure but we do have a Facebook and Instagram and Twitter account. Please add us on there so you can get any information that is pertinent to come to you. We also have a financial welness where we end up teaching our students everything and everything we need to know about budgeting. It is a great program and I really encourage everyone to utilize it.
Mitsuko Leonard
04:16:35 PM
@Jesus and others with this question, you can go to https://shcs.ucdavis.edu/uc-ship-waiver-information submit your health insurance waiver
And the this is the actual building goal, so this is how we pretty much.
Kyle Day
04:16:43 PM
What parts of my costs can my grant(s) apply to?
Daisey Jeannette Sandoval
04:16:49 PM
@Suba Title IV authorizes all financial aid, including Title IV Federal funds, be applied toward the total balance due on the student's UC Davis student account. Any remaining funds will be disbursed to the student at the beginning of each term.
Suba Kanchadapu
04:17:00 PM
could you explain what "Authorize up to $200 Prior Year Debt paid w/ current yr aid" is?
And have our financial Wellness and how we end up teaching our students. We do have a budget con which is pretty fun that we have every year where we pretty much have all these different to resources and apartments that come and they pretty much teach you anything that you need to know from budgeting your housing to budgeting, personal expenses and all that kind of stuff. So definitely keep an eye out for that.
So your take away, so you're my award. So complete all requirements and then you'll want to look at your remaining costs and any changes that you need to make to your awards. And you'll want to let us know through a change in aid scholarships. Look at the scholarships website so that you can see if there's any scholarships that you may be eligible for and utilize those.
Baneen Ali
04:17:37 PM
Would we have access to a recording later on"
Daisey Jeannette Sandoval
04:17:43 PM
@Suba The prior year debit authorizes your financial aid to pay any charges on your account up to $200 if you have enough funding
And then of course you know plot apply, just apply, apply there. The worst thing that could happen is you can get to know you know. And the best thing that can happen is you can get yes. And there is possibility of you know additional funding that you will end up getting. So definitely try that out.
And so there is a scan codes if you guys want to scan that, only that there for a second.
Another question about how this might affect summer.
Kimberly Hofmann
04:17:59 PM
Can I still apply for scholarships even if my remaining cost is zero and how would funds be dispersed if I earn scholarships but have no more financial need for them?
Mitsuko Leonard
04:18:07 PM
@Baneen we'll be posting the recording in the next week or so
Arianna Rose Ahmed
04:18:22 PM
Our office can be reached at 530-752-2390 Monday-Friday 9 am - 4 pm. Or at Contact an Expert at https://my.ucdavis.edu/ask_us
OK, so summer school is definitely different from the regular academic year, and so we if you are thinking about attending summer school this academic year, you definitely can as a pre matriculate and you will need to have the 21 the sorry, the 2021 application on file, that so the fastball.
Or the dream application for the year 2021 will need to be filed and so pretty much what will end up happening is we will be packaging packaging you as a pre matriculate as an entering prima, trickle it, and you will only be eligible if you're eligible for Pell. You will only be receiving 1/3 of it. It is still unit sensitive, so depending on the amount of units that you are taking during the summer as you total amount of power that you will be eligible for police, check our website and.
Daisey Jeannette Sandoval
04:19:10 PM
@Kimberly, if you receive scholarships your Self-Help would be reduced, then University Loan and/or Federal Direct Subsidized Loan and then grants if the scholarships exceed the amount of the Self-Help and the 2 loans
Linda Sancrant
04:19:14 PM
There is a SHIP waiver that you can fill out
Linda Sancrant
04:19:20 PM
I am working full time but leave my job due to starting school. When the next year starts it is going to use my income from the work that I am doing now. What can I do to let them know that my income is literally half of that?
We give you that information of the percentages as well as loans. Loans is also only a third, so you will need to. We will award only a third if you log into our website. We do have an estimator that you can check out in which you'll enter your student ID, your information and then you can play around with your units. I want to take 6 units in session. One I want to take 16 session two and it will pretty much trying to calculate.
MBA that you may be eligible for, but please make sure that you have a 2021 application on file.
Mitsuko Leonard
04:19:40 PM
@Linda - yup! https://shcs.ucdavis.edu/uc-ship-waiver-information
Arianna Rose Ahmed
04:19:45 PM
@Kyle grants and any accepted loans will first go towards your tuition and fees, next your on campus charges if on campus, then if anything left over it will be disbursed as a refund
Denise Beatrice Papilota
04:19:57 PM
As a transfer, are uc davis scholarships offered during the summer?
Daisey Jeannette Sandoval
04:19:59 PM
@Linda You can submit a Family Contribution Appeal to demonstrate the loss of income
So it is definitely you definitely have the opportunity to do that. Also, please know that summer is the most expensive. It is $279 per unit. It's not like I'm taking 12 units and I'm going to be charging you X amount of money. No, it's per unit and you only get so much financial aid that some Smith and a pain out of pocket if they want to try to advance and take as many units as they can during the summer.
Jersain Medina
04:20:09 PM
What about I am married how does that work with housing ,
Steven Igou
04:20:15 PM
What is this phone number we can call?
Daisey Jeannette Sandoval
04:20:29 PM
@Steven 530-752-2390
And then there is an additional $349 a session. So you really have to think about if you really want to take summer because of the fact that it is a little bit more costly. So I really encourage everyone to. If you are interested, please call our office, get the information. Please go onto our summer website on the Financial aid site and try to investigate.
In read and understand the summer program, but it is available to you guys for sure.
Lazer Introlegator
04:20:38 PM
When do we need to accept/decline a loan?
Victoria Alexander
04:20:47 PM
When will we be notified if we were awarded any scholarships?
Mitsuko Leonard
04:20:47 PM
@Jersain we have family housing on campus. Take a look at the housing site and look for Solano Park
Say that one more time, sorry.
I wouldn't know if they received a scholarship.
Daisey Jeannette Sandoval
04:21:11 PM
@Lazer you will be able to accept or decline your loans on or after July 15th and throughout the entire year up until May 2022
So students will know if they received a scholarship through their my awards or through an email from the scholarships office. They normally don't start awarding until around August September, so it's not going to happen right away that they would know if they are eligible for a scholarship. They will need to wait a little bit before they actually know that, but they will know by the time they start school in October is October right? Yeah.
Mitsuko Leonard
04:21:23 PM
@Jersain take a look here https://housing.ucdavis.edu/family-housing/
Linh Dang
04:21:25 PM
If I chose to decline loans, then will my remaining costs and other amount of aids change?
Any other questions I can answer?
So the question about being outside policies are students able to bring outside scholarships to data.
Shannon Marshall
04:21:38 PM
Can we receive scholarships outside of Davis?
Arianna Rose Ahmed
04:21:48 PM
@Denise incoming students are awarded scholarships based on their UC application throughout the summer and even throughout the academic year as funds become available. You can get summer financial aid by taking at least 6 units and submitting a 2020-2021 FAFSA, but I don't think there are scholarships for summer specifically
Jesus Bastian
04:21:56 PM
I have medical-cal which is my proper health insurance, where can I submit my health insurance so I don’t have to pay for it. Also, will it lower my cost of attendance?
Daisey Jeannette Sandoval
04:21:59 PM
@Linh If you decline loans you may have the cost out of pocket but your grants arent changed
Absolutely, you definitely can bring outside scholarships into UC Davis. You want to make sure that the sponsor knows that you're going to be attending UC Davis. Sometimes the sponsor will actually send the scholarship over to our office, so that's really good to know the cashier's address so that they have that so they can send it over to us as well as make sure that you let us know.
James Eaton
04:22:08 PM
If I qualify for Cal Grant, would it be showing up in My Awards?
So you want to submit a change in aid and let us know that you're going to be receiving an outside scholarship to make sure that it fits within your cost of attendance. So I want everyone to know, and to make sure that they understand that we do not go over the cost of attendance. So whatever financial aid, whether it's outside scholarships or you know, institutional aid or federal loans, we make sure to fit it within your cost of attendance. So we will always try to reduce your loan first. So definitely get to know that too.

04:22:54 PM
Do we need to agree to a meal plan as a transfer or can we opt out?
Arianna Rose Ahmed
04:23:00 PM
@Jesus that would be through Student Health and Counseling Services and that would mean you would not be charged for the health insurance specifically 2805 for the year
Daisey Jeannette Sandoval
04:23:07 PM
@James It will reflect on your account in August once CSAC sends us the roster. Please keep in mind University Grant is interchangeable with Cal Grant you would not receive both.
Jenita Prasad
04:23:08 PM
Due to having my own medical insurance, if I deny the "University Grant for SHIP," will it reduce my grant or put me at a disadvantage in receiving future grants?
So the devil is always going to be 2 weeks before the end of school, so in the spring term, so two weeks right before. So it's always around the middle of May when it's the deadline and the deadline is because we want to make sure that all originations happen. We want to make sure that the loan is accepted. We want to make sure that the Department of Education receives the information we want to make sure that then we receive the information and the system is updated correctly. And then of course we want to make sure.
Vanessa Lopez
04:23:15 PM
How do I find grants to apply for?
But the funds are disbursed within that academic year, 'cause by the time that the last day of school comes we, we really can't go past that. So it's always going to be 2 weeks before school is over.
Another question is the amount that I received my first year the same overseas every year.
Jenita Prasad
04:23:31 PM
Will the same amount of grants be offered every year as it was offered the first year?
Mitsuko Leonard
04:23:40 PM

04:23:44 PM
@Vanessa Your FAFSA/Dream Act was your application for grants
Christina Shiffer-Mccool
04:23:52 PM
do the university grants have to be paid back?
Now, no. So it is a very very important to always submit your financial aid application by March 2nd it opens up the beginning of every October. So definitely make sure to get that application right away because it is going to depend on, you know if you're going to be a computer or if you're going to be off campus while your estimated family contribution, maybe because.
Arianna Rose Ahmed
04:24:00 PM
@Jenita, Independent students automatically get the grant and you cannot decline a grant
Ka Wai Sit
04:24:08 PM
Can we use medical- cal for the health insurance?
That is dependent on what your income is, so it's really important to make sure that you get everything in as soon as you can. That way we can do. We are processes of seeing what you're eligible for and financial aid so that you get it in time so you can make the decision that you need to make, but it usually.
Daisey Jeannette Sandoval
04:24:15 PM

Cami Rothmuller
04:24:31 PM
Just seeking clarification regarding eligibility: If I were to change my marital status to married during my time at Davis, my eligibility would then depend on the income of my partner, right?
If you, if you know in your heart that you make the same 20,000, let's say hypothetically 20,000 every year then you can kind of, you know, guess that there could be a possibility that you may be receiving the same amount but for the most part a lot of individuals. Thank goodness you know for raises and all that kind of stuff that you know. Sometimes you know your incoming increase, which could possibly possibly we don't know it could end up changing your financial aid eligibility.
Another question, how do I know if I receive the middle class scholarship?
Daisey Jeannette Sandoval
04:24:49 PM
@Cami Correct, if you are independent it would be your income and your spouses.
Ariam Embaye
04:24:50 PM
Will we have to wait until cal grants are released to know if we will receive the middle class scholarship?
So the middle class lock scholarship comes from the California State Commission, so we will get a roster and we will get information from them regarding the amount that you're that the student is going to be eligible for. Usually we do know around an estimate, and so we will put that estimate out there for the student, and so they will see that. I believe I want to say we usually find that information around August could be lying. I can't remember the timeline of that Blacks.
Christina Shiffer-Mccool
04:25:31 PM
Also, what is SHIP?
You, you, the student will now 'cause we will put an estimate out there for them and then at the time that we end up getting the actual numbers is when we will actually change that estimate into the offer or not be offered the accepted amount.

For any scholarships, is that what the question is?
Daisey Jeannette Sandoval
04:26:08 PM
@Linda In order to make a one on one appointment you would call our office at 530-752-2390
Or just OK. So yeah, so for UC Davis scholarship. So yeah, so your initial application is going to be that application, so there's a committee that goes through all of the students that have been applied to see if you know if they are eligible for it. So if and when they are eligible they will actually see it on there. My awards for the amount. There are some that are awarded that are offered in you and so you always want to make sure that you know what is on your my awards.
Ala Rahman
04:26:33 PM
When we add scholarships, will it decrease the amount of aid we are offered?
Joylanda Tambala-Burch
04:26:46 PM
What types of jobs are available for the work-study program? Is it possible to find one that fits my major?
Because if you are offered a scholarship from UC Davis, you need to make sure that you go in there and they accept it because they do give you a certain timeline in order to be able to accept that award. If it's not accepted during a certain time, scholarship will also send an email and say, hey, you haven't you know accepted this award. You know, do you still want it or not? So you definitely want to always keep an eye on your mind. War is just like you always want to keep an eye on your my bill and all that kind of stuff so that you always know what's going on and you're always intuitive with what's going on with your financial aid.
Is it really that should be the last thing you should be worrying about.
But you also shouldn't know about it. That way you know exactly how your education is being financed.
Daisey Jeannette Sandoval
04:27:10 PM
@Ala if you receive scholarships your Self-Help would be reduced, then University Loan and/or Federal Direct Subsidized Loan and then grants if the scholarships exceed the amount of the Self-Help and the 2 loans

Can you talk a little bit more about book study and what kind of jobs are available, either related to?
So the work study program that one is.
Victoria Alexander
04:27:27 PM
What do we do if cal grant didn't show up but we applied for it & qualify?
I know that there have been a little bit of changes for the work study program so that you do have to be in a certain EFC bracket in order to be eligible for. I want to say it's around 20,000 where your EFC needs to be, and then after that they do look to see if you have like the need. So that is pretty much saying you know you. All this student has a subsidized loan we can take from there and offer them the work study. Now the actual jobs that the student is going to be eligible for. That's really going to depend on them so.

I received a scholarship. The requirement says I need to do the "Undergrad Scholarship Acceptance form" But I am not able to open it. I tried accepting it through the awards section but it is just gray and won't open anything when I click accept. Please let me know how I can access it.
There is the I believe, called Handshake Now and that is pretty much where the student is going to be able to log in sheet. What jobs are available? They would then pretty much you know, seek that position. You know, fill in application and see if they are hired for it and they can pretty much let that employer know like say hey I am eligible for work study which they also can find out on their my awards if they're eligible or not. 'cause it will stay on there.
And they will pretty much.
They will know if they are higher, not obviously from their employer an in the employer is going to pretty much contact our office and they will do all the negotiations and all that kind of stuff of getting this student. You know, set up with with work study, but really it does start with the student an going into that handshake and seeing what jobs that they're interested in.
Arianna Rose Ahmed

@Jason you can view Important Financial Aid Deadlines on our website at https://financialaid.ucdavis.edu/undergraduate/dates
Elizabeth Miller
04:29:50 PM
Do we need to reapply for aid every quarter or just every year?
It may happen. Let's say if a student goes from off the computer because the computer budget is smaller, we will recalculate the financial aid. So what that means is that there is the possibility of the University grant being lower. Does that mean that you're going to be paying more out of pocket? No, because we're pretty much still going to tailor your financial aid to fit within your cost of attendance. So you're actually going to be paying a little bit less, which means that we're going to be offering you a little bit less and financially, but it all pretty much still.
Ends up being around the same amount.
OK, I accept it now. He takes long after further is it is still in there.
Stop it later, I don't want it to fall term.
Sanjana Dasgupta
04:30:14 PM

Is solano park whithin campus or close by
I will accept it later. Yes, absolutely you do not. So if we're offering you alone, it does not mean that you have to borrow it. Absolutely not. It is an option for you would always will be an option for you. So if you feel that in the fall term you do not need that loan, then.
Karina Nava
04:30:34 PM

@Jersain it's on campus...right by the Arboretum. really convenient!
Arianna Rose Ahmed
04:31:01 PM
@Karina base tuition and fees are guaranteed if you have the financial need (12570)
You don't have to borrow it, but let's say the winter, you know term comes around and you're in a need. A little bit of 8th. Absolutely. You can definitely at that time except loan the other thing too is if in the fall term you're like no, no no. I'm not going to take out any loans. There's no way I'm going to decline it because I am not taking it out. That's OK. But if then in the winter you're like man, I do need to borrow this low like I just need the extra funds. That's fine. You can actually request for us to re offer that loan.
Sanjana Dasgupta
04:31:07 PM
Is there a last date to accept financial aid?
Or you and we. And then you go in and you can actually accept it and borrow, you know, up to the amount that you need, so know that if we're offering you, you know.
Daisey Jeannette Sandoval
04:31:30 PM
@Elim The Subsidized Loan while you are in school the DOE pays the interest. However the Unsubsidized Loan you are responsible for the interest. You may read more about the loans on our website: https://financialaidmigrate.sf.ucdavis.edu/loans
A $5000 in the subsidized loan? It does not mean that you have to take out those $5000. You can take out less than that. And then if later on it you think you know you need a little bit more than let's say, the thousand that you first you know borrowed and you need a little bit more, you can request an increase. So just know that whatever we offer Ewan loans, the maximum amount that we show on there does not mean that that's what you have to take out. If you end up declining because you don't want to take it. And then you need it and it you know.
Bella Mulford
04:31:57 PM
Is the Green at West Village considered on campus housing?
Arianna Rose Ahmed
04:32:00 PM
@Sanjana not necessarily, but the payment deadline for Fall is September 15th, so if you have loans you need to pay out by then you would need to accept the loans and complete their requirements at least 2 weeks prior to that
Ellaine Arroyo
04:32:10 PM
Can I only get student loans instead of parent loans, because the parent loan APR rate is higher than the student loan APR rate?
And if it's still available there for you, then he absolutely please let us know that you want to re borrow that or you want to borrow that loan so we will re offer it to you so the loans is definitely something that you can play around with and you know let us know if you want to take it out or not and you know if you still don't know at the beginning if you should borrow and I'll just come, just ask us, you know we will definitely try to guide you as best as we can into the decision of borrowing loans. And I'm a huge advocate of please borrow less. I went to school I have student loans I have tomorrow.
Mitsuko Leonard
04:32:22 PM
@Bella, yup, it's on campus, in the western part of the campus. it's really quite fance :) https://housing.ucdavis.edu/apartments/the-green/
So please be very, very mindful of trying to borrow little at a time. So let's say you need 1000. Just borrow that thousand you know. And if later on you do need more, then you know it's OK. It's that's what it's there for. Then go ahead and you know and request you know some more funds.
So along the same lines, can I expect about study later or that they have to be the first step?

Arianna Rose Ahmed
04:33:15 PM
@Tyler some appeals open in the summer and some later in the year, please visit our appeal page on our website for details about each appeal https://financialaid.ucdavis.edu/faforms/undergraduate
The funds may be there, but the jobs may be limited, especially right now. You know, we're still we're a lot of us, you know, a lot of Department stores sell off campus. We're slowly starting to, you know, to come back on campus. So you do want to try to keep an eye on that website for handshake and see what jobs are out there. But if there's something that interests you, then I would. I would suggest you go. You go for it like right away. That way you can possibly get that position. 'cause right now I don't know what departments are out. You know. Back on campus, I don't know who's hiring.
I'm hoping you know we can start hiring our students again and giving them jobs and all that kind of stuff, but you that is 1 where you really want to keep an eye out. Just kind of like in the you know, when you're all done with school when you're out there that we're all you know, trying to get a job you want to keep an eye on that market that you're interested in because you want to try to capture it as soon as you can.
Daisey Jeannette Sandoval
04:33:43 PM
@Ellaine if you are offered a Parent PLUS Loan and are not accepting it you would need to look into alternative loans. The amount offered to you in student loans would be the maximum you are eligible for unless your parent's credit is denied for the Parent PLUS

That comes with the fast, fast as you fight for the faster that is going to be a part of it, because what we do is we look at the income. So you definitely want to make sure that you are applying for the fast bugs. Look as we go through the California Student Aid Commission. Kind of like how we do with Cal Grant. We try to make sure that we get all the information from all of our students that we can try to offer him the state the funds. So as long as he filed for fast food we can look to see if you're eligible.

Sergio Munoz
04:35:45 PM
Also is there going to be a recording for this meeting ?
Daisey Jeannette Sandoval
04:35:45 PM
@Kieu You accept for the year not each quarter
So so first coming in for students it could take anywhere between a week or two, so you're always going to be approved 'cause you're a student, so there's not going to be like a you are denied type of thing, so the subsidized loan? The unsubsidized loan? Those are student loans, so there is no, you know, approve or denial process on that, but it does take a little bit of time in order for this to go through. So you do want to allow time. So as soon as you have your.
Jessica Eckman
04:36:12 PM
if you have a zero remaining balance is that including if you were to except the subsidized loans and unsubsidized loans? If you decline these loans will you owe the amount that was stated the loans would cover?
I'm a financial aid eligibility, you know to you, that's when you want to start thinking. Do I need to take out the loans or not? So looking at your my awards and then looking at every single term because the awards will be in offered status. It's still going to count it there for you. So if you know that you're not going to want to take out the loans, just subtract that from the bottom line number on the term and you will pretty much get a determination of the fund that the funds that will be dispersed to your account.
Mitsuko Leonard
04:36:28 PM
@Sergio, yes there will be a recording but we'll also be having another live event on Saturday at 10AM. hoping that the sound issues will be solved too :)
Danielle Hernandez
04:36:30 PM
For the title IV, if I agree to it do I still get my extra funds at the beginning of the quarter or do I need to wait until the end of quarter?
Daisey Jeannette Sandoval
04:36:47 PM
@Danielle You would receive the funding at the beginning of the quarter.
And if you feel that that's not going to be enough, or you know tuition fees, and therefore anything that you may need, that's when you start adding in the loans. So if you see like, OK, you know what I am going to be needing, you know an additional 1500, then that's when you know that you should, you know, start the process of accepting the loans. That way when the first disbursement comes in September, then you'll be able to have those funds for yourself when you need them.

what is the title IV fund authorization that we have to complete?
No, that does not guarantee a job because it's just like any other job. You know. Like you have to go out there, you have to interview, you know, put your best face forward, tell him how great you are, you know, and that's how you're going to be able to guarantee yourself. Tell yourself, you know, tell him that you're the best person for this position, and absolutely you'll get yourself that job. I guarantee that. Just tell him how great you are, but now you know being eligible for work so it does not mean that you're.
Absolutely guaranteed for that because you do have to go look for that position. You got to see if you know the Department that you're interested in working in, which we also take work. Study students if you're interested in financial aid. We take them too.
Arianna Rose Ahmed
04:37:46 PM
@Jessica yes it does mean including the loans, but keep in mind the cost of attendance includes estimates of cost. The actual charges you will have to pay is tuition, insurance if you do not waive out of it, and housing charges if you have on campus housing. Everything else in the cost of attendance are estimates
Daisey Jeannette Sandoval
04:37:51 PM

'cause there is a you know just like you know anything else, there is a hiring process, but definitely take advantage of the fact that you are eligible and and take the advantage of that. You know you could possibly work somewhere in Department at you know at UC Davis there are a lot of UC Davis students who have graduated and have stayed with the Department because they just end up loving it. So take advantage of that is something that you know like teaching or anything like that or.

You know, if that's something that you're interested in, you know trying to get into a Department that you know you're going to have that access to. A lot of the teachers or, or you know, if you're wanting to be an engineer, you know, you know, try to take a job with you, know one of the departments that has, you know, you know fellow engineers in there so that you have that access to those individuals.

Was the pell grant increased this year?
Because although we are working really, really hard, we do try to get those done as soon as we can to make sure that the aid is there for the student for when they start school so it can take a few weeks because we are working through the whole list. And of course it does come pretty much first come first serve so will always work on you know the latest one and just keep going.

For UC Davis scholarships, will the general application be sufficient or are there more requirements needed?
Who study abroad that's so great if you guys have the opportunity, definitely do it. Yes, so we do have programs for study abroad and financially does help out with that. Just know that there are some programs that may cost a little bit more where not all of your financial aid will help cover it. So if you are interested there, please go onto the study abroad website. Please view all of their programs and programs.
Are great and there is a worksheet where you can actually ask and see what your financial aid may be. If you were interested in a certain program so you can actually submit that to our study abroad program manager and her assistant, and pretty much what they will do is they would look at your financial aid and pretty much give you an estimate of what that program would would be for you, how much it would cost, and what will you be eligible for. But absolutely, if you're interested in going to.
1/4 broad we will definitely look at what you are eligible for for that quarter and help you finance that program for that quarter.

Anybody in our office? We have a big huge huge staff but we have a pretty good you know amount of individuals in our office that is able to assist anybody when they call regarding their loans. We will look at your age. They definitely have your student ID handy and we will look to see what you may be able to before and then we can give you pretty much you know the input on what the loans are from what.
Interest rates are for the subsidized and unsubsidized, and you know and all that kind of stuff, so any of us will be able to help you out.
This is something you have to pay it all at once. Or did you get to pay it in order and instead of payments and available?

04:41:56 PM
If only taking one 3 unit class over the summer do we still get aid?
Mitsuko Leonard
04:41:58 PM
throw one in there and we'll try to get to it!
So it's a quarterly, so it's not for the full year, so your financial aid is dispersed quarterly as well as tuition and fees will be charged quarterly. So because of the fact that there could be a possibility that you may not attend the winter, you know term or the spring term, so we want to make sure that as soon as you're registered for a term, that's the term that we're going to be charging for, and then that's going to be the term that we are going to be releasing aid.
Daisey Jeannette Sandoval
04:42:26 PM
@Genece you need to be in at least 6 units to receive financial aid
Arianna Rose Ahmed
04:42:26 PM
@Victoria yes you can still submit the 2020-2021 FAFSA, just add UC Davis to it and re-submit
Sumeet Bains
04:42:38 PM
will I have to change the schools on my FAFSA once I decide where I will be attending?
Or and yes, there is a different plan with student accounting, so you will want to log into the student accounting website for that information and while it will pretty much do is that it will split your payments into thirds. So every quarter is 3 months, So what they will do is they will split that payment. Let's say you have $1000 left. They need to pay, then they're going to split that into thirds. So you will pay a certain amount you know on one month and then the second month, and then the third month before the next fees are due for the next term.

I was invited to join Phi Theta Cappa (PTK) honor society and it says that if you join you can get scholarships. Can I get scholarships from them for Davis?
You will find more information on that in the Student accounting website where they will give you more information about the deferment plan and then also the deadline 'cause there are deadlines for applying for that.
And I think you may have mentioned this before.

So for Cal Grant, the transfer transfer unit, the transfer student, we will know pretty much what you may be eligible for close to the start of school because of the timing of when we're able to get the actual roster for the transfer student, you need to make sure that if you have possibly used.
Santiago Liera
04:43:58 PM
I applied for the cal grant, how do we declare that UC Davis is the school that we are going to be attending? Or is that process automated?

@Denise you'll want to be sure to set up your UCD email. you'll be using your login info as well
Tyler Lafrenais
04:44:12 PM
When can I apply for an increase in a student due to the fact that my parents were denied for the parent plus loan?
And maybe your Calgary at another school like at a Community College, you want to make sure that they know that you are now attending UC Davis, so you want to make sure that they that you have given them or submitted. I believe it's a middle form so them know that you are not going to be attending UC Davis so that anything that you're eligible for then it would be transferred over to us. But we will take pretty much into consideration any percentage that you have been used, 'cause you can only use up to 400%.
So that means like 100% every year. So like four years and we will.

04:44:28 PM

I award you up to what you're eligible for, so pretty much what the fees are. So right now it's about 12,540 I believe, and so if you're eligible for 100% then we're going to schedule that for you. But we do have to wait in for the roster from the California soon. A Commission to make sure that that's what we're going to be able to award you, and so will go in. Will look at the roster. Will look into your account as long as you let us know or let them know that you are now attending UC Davis.
And then we will make sure to award you accordingly.

Do Blue and Gold Opportunity Plan, as well as Aggie Grant Plan, apply to all students who apply for financial aid before march 3? because I don't see the those grants on my financing plan. thank you
No, so applying you definitely want to make sure that you apply by March 2nd and that is you know the deadline. So you do want to. 'cause we do take that date into consideration, but you won't know right away that you are eligible for any of the any of our programs. You will know if you're eligible when you get packaged.
Eleanor Zapanta
04:45:30 PM
Is it too late to apply for scholarships for 21/22 academic year?
Certain programs that pretty much are, you know, either you get one or you get the other. So let's say for the blue and gold at the fees are up two, also 12,540. I'm hope I'm right on that, and if you're eligible for the Calgary and we won't give you the blue and gold 'cause it's one or the other. But if you're not eligible for the counter and we're able to offer you that, then we're going to offer you that blue and gold.
Daisey Jeannette Sandoval
04:46:01 PM
@Eleanor Your UC Davis Application was your application for UC Davis scholarships. If you are looking into outside scholarships they set the deadlines
OK, I will go back to previous but then again this didn't happen. Apply for deferred payments with the starting to fall 2021.
Arianna Rose Ahmed
04:46:14 PM
@Gabby scholarships through UC Davis will be on your financial aid package and will be disbursed with other aid towards your billing first and then if any funds left over then that will be a refund in a check or bank account if you sign up for direct deposit

Where do we find the forms for appeals?
Arianna Rose Ahmed
04:46:38 PM
@Steven https://financialaid.ucdavis.edu/faforms/undergraduate
You'll want to start. I don't know the data when you want to start, but you'll want to look at it. It is on the student accounting website when you can actually start, so the fees are, believe it. Let's see the students start in October, so the fees should be posted around September so when fees are posted in you will see that on your account because student accounting will actually start, you know, rolling all their stuff and letting you know that you have a bill. That's when you want to start. So as soon as you get that notification that you have a billing your account, you will definitely want to make sure.
Mitsuko Leonard
04:46:54 PM
@Suba, it looks like you can make arrangements to split the deposit or have it offset based on financial aid awards. take a look here https://housing.ucdavis.edu/fees/residence-halls-and-the-green-at-west-village/
Miranda Lee
04:46:56 PM
does work study affect the amount of financial aid you get ? Because I am a dependent and by working, my parents' income on their taxes will seem higher
Daisey Jeannette Sandoval
04:46:59 PM
@Suba Cal Grant and University Grant are interchangable so you would not receive both
That you look into the deferred payment plan, but you'll want to do it right away, so it should be at least around. So if the fees are due September 15th, that would be the deadline for the first payment, so you'll want to start, let's say beginning of September in order to be able to apply. So it's all done on line, so it's pretty quick. You'll end up, you know, entering your information and train the account that you want to use until pay for your tuition. So as soon as you know as soon as you.
Sirf wink wink? Just kidding. So as soon as you know you know you receive over here. Information from you know student accounting. You pretty much want to start looking into all that kind of stuff and again my give us a call. You in accounting is great that you know will give you information and all that kind of stuff mostly information for soon accounting you will find on their website But again you know just let us know so we can help you out with that.

I think your number if you look question if my financial aid status is changed, so I'm assuming.
So if your status has changed, you come.

Jasmine Canada
04:48:15 PM
how long does the consent last?
Arianna Rose Ahmed
04:48:26 PM
@Miranda Work-Study does not affect financial aid, you will only be awarded based on your financial need for the year using Self-Help, or declined subsidized loans, etc
It's going to depend on what the status is, so let's say you know you lost your job. And let's say you know you know you know you need some additional funds, so again, we have that family contribution appeal because it's not just a parent, it's also student contribution, so you know if you are independent student and you had, you know, unfortunately, end up losing your job. We do have that, and so you want to let us know so that we can guide you if there is an instance where you know you have a roommate and all of a sudden your roommate.
Daisey Jeannette Sandoval
04:48:38 PM
@Jasmine you must complete the Title IV Authorization and the Prior Year Debt each academic year

Someone said at the beginning of this that the deadline to apply for housing was yesterday but MyAdmissions says to apply by June 4th
Lazer Introlegator
04:48:51 PM
Are there any scholarships given to the student instead of directly to UCD?
You know flicks on you and now, so you have to pay all of rent. Just know that you we have that cost of attendance appeal so that we can help you out with that and you know and take into consideration the extra funds that you're going to have to, you know bring out of pocket if you know your computer ends up breaking down. I mean we are remote so you are going to be on it. You know for a little bit.
Daisey Jeannette Sandoval
04:49:02 PM
@Bradly The deadline is June 4th
Arianna Rose Ahmed
04:49:18 PM
@Lazer some outside scholarships, but keep in mind they still notify the school eventually that funds were sent to the student
You definitely we do have a computer loan appeal. It's part of the cost of attendance appeal in which you can pretty much request for a loan so you can get yourself a new laptop. So we do have the resources out there to help you out. Is just making sure that you are on our website, you know, checking everything out and reading about how we could help you out. So and then communicating with us if there is any situation you do want to make sure we communicate with us so that we can have the can help you out as best as we can within their resources.

Time is being in the party.
Mikayla Deigan
04:49:34 PM
If I am deemed an independent student does this mean that my parents income is not counted?
Arianna Rose Ahmed
04:49:55 PM
@Ana it is separate from your tuition and you can apply to waive out of the insurance to Student Health and Counseling Services
So if the faster says you weren't independent, so meaning you know you are over the age of 24 or you have a child, you're married. Now you do not need their information. So if the fastest says you are independent student, you do not need to add parent information. If the fast that says you are a dependent student, then yes, you will need to provide parent information. Of course there are certain circumstances where you know there information may not be.
Elim Yang
04:50:06 PM
are there any scholarships available for us to apply right now? I haven't received any emails about scholarships when I submitted my UC application back in November
You may not be able to put in there, but if that is the instance you want to let us know, there are just know that if the parent is unwilling to add, you know their information onto the fasfa, but that is not going to be a case for an appeal or anything with that. But if there are any instances where you cannot add a parent when you have to add parent, just please give us a call and speak with a representative or financial officer so that we can better assist you.
The last question, if anyone has, he got to a point of pressure.
Without any additional questions, square should be billed as the best places to collect them.
