Yes, yes I have Awesome OO. Shoshana, Lynette Teresa, Lord Awesome. That is so so exciting. I love, love, love to hear that. Many of you may be on the fence, which is completely normal. This is where we do a little investigating, so let's dive into some things that you need to consider before before making the leap.
So we're going to share with you the five most popular reasons that students choose UC Davis.
The first and probably most obvious reason is our beautiful campus I saw from the registration. Pull that about half of you have had the chance to visit our campus, which is so exciting to hear.
Oops, sorry I'm having a little technical difficulties here. Here we go. So we do have the largest of all of the uses. With over 5000 acres. This includes our massive quad. That's right at the heart of our campus. It's an awesome location for students to socialize, study, relax. We have some really awesome hammocks. There were students love to hang out. Picnic area is a super fun on the left and the photos there on your screen. You can see our residence halls.
For first year students housing is guaranteed for first year students and we highly encourage students to take advantage of the opportunity to live on our beautiful campus. We have multiple options for housing and you can select your preferences on your housing application. Once you submit your essay are you will then submit your housing application very shortly thereafter. You can find the information on how to do that and all of your other enrollment tasks on your my admissions page, which is where you also checked your admissions decision so once you submit.
BSI are a lot of other options will activate and I'll go. I'll talk about those a Roman Tests a little bit later.
On the South side of our campuses are Arboretum, home of thousands of species of wild knife, puta Creek, various gardens. That's also where are Redwood Grove is it serves as an outdoor laboratory, but also is just a beautiful spot to go out for a job or to have a little like picnic lunch between classes.
Here at Davis, students who live on campus purchase a meal plan which can be used and with any of our three dining Commons, which one of which is featured there on the left. They serve delicious food from sustainable and responsible sources. There's a rich menu foods from around the world, and they work really hard to cater to all dietary restrictions.
For students who are grabbing a quick bite, the main place to go is the coffee house or the coho housing are Memorial Union, which is also right around that general quad area. It's entirely student run and offers an extensive menu of food and drink options.
The silent which is on the South side of campus offers food as well, including made to order crepe stand. Boars head sandwich is an it hosts various local food trucks on a rotating schedule and for the freshest ingredients folks take advantage of our student farm, which helps to stock the pantry on campus, a program that provides free food for students to combat food insecurity on our campus.
Anwil college is all about academics. Is not all about academics. That is only part of the experience on campus. Here we have multiple museums, an amazing newly renovated rec pool and eight Lane Bowling Alley on campus. All to keep you entertained during those quick study breaks.
The second most popular reasons students pick UC Davis is the experience that you get both inside and outside of the classroom.
Especially outside of the classroom on the left. Here you see a picture of a student taking are super popular tractor driving course. Students say they really enjoy it with over 100 department's on campus. We have a lot of unique experiences for students to take advantage of to build up their resumes, but also to have some fun like in our coffee lab Corps, which is shown on the right which includes brewing and tasting different types of coffee roast.
Outside of Davis students can learn and get that hands-on experience in many different locations in Sacramento. We have our medical school where students can secure internships as well as are you see Sacramento program for students interested in political science and public policy. We also have a Bodega Bay Marine Laboratory, where students can participate in summer residence programs as seen in the photo on the bottom left.
You see, Davis also boasts with one of the most expensive study abroad programs of the UC campuses, with programs that visit over 40 countries on every continent.
And of course you are considering your future after four years here, so you see, Davis makes sure that you are learning, but also building up your resume, resume with work and internships on and around our campus. Our student government, the ASU CD has one of the biggest budgets of a college student government in the United States and allow students to have a lot of influence over campus decisions. We offer a barn residence programs to support students in need of housing, but also give you opportunities to work with animals on a daily basis.
There's one of our students holding a lamb at our sheep barn.
Are buses are driven an repaired by students offering work experience but also money to help you pay for school. Our internship and Career Center put students in over 10,000 internships every single academic year.
So let's move on to #3, finding a place where you can be healthy physically, mentally and even environmentally is important. And here at UC Davis, we take that very seriously.
We are a very green campus holding various rankings for our sustainability efforts around our campus with our reliance on green transportation. Like public transit buses, anar ecofriendly bikes, we keep our impact on the environment very low. We also constantly implement eco friendly practices such as using solar panels whenever possible and constructing lead buildings when we renovate using things like skylights in place of lighting. We are also committed to recycling and composting with separate bins all over campus.
So everyone can do their part to support our environmental impact.
Biking is huge. A huge part of UC Davis culture. It's good for the environment, yes, but also very good for you. In addition to the exercise from bike transportation, students have full access to our recently expanded activities and Rec Center, a fully loaded gym with exercise classes, rock climbing wall, basketball and racquetball courts. You can see that we also offer free yoga sessions throughout the year in the quad for physical and also mental health.
Our dining halls, campus eateries and the pantry offer healthy food options, but we also have several farmers markets, both on campus and in downtown Davis. Students have very easy access to fresh, organic produce on a regular basis.
School spirit is also a major disk.
Driving factor for many students when choosing a college.
We do have over 20 and NCAA Division One athletic teams including football, basketball, an equestrian team, and beach volleyball. All sporting events are free for students and we have a massive student cheer center and free schwag. To make these events much more interesting and fun. And there's also plenty of opportunities for all students to play sports with club teams and Intermural and recreational opportunities.
But you see, Davis spirit extends past eccle athletics as well. The location of our school. The location of the school that you want to attend is very important. You are committing to living there for four years, so being in Davis, a college town through and through alumni and community members all really celebrate the campus and want to contribute to the student experience. Davis is truly a great place to spend your college years. Which brings us to number 5.
The most common thing you'll hear students talk about when they talk about UC Davis is the sense of community that they feel on our campus. People are friendly and supportive of one another, which makes this a truly wonderful place to study, learn and live.
Physical spaces like our residence halls, international centers, and SEC offer students opportunities to congregate and connect, but we also have programming and various other and various other campus groups for students to find their space on campus wherever that may be.
800 plus clubs. Hundreds of employment opportunities on campus internships and more. Allow students to find things that they're passionate about and meet others who share those same interests.
Here at UC Davis there is a space for people of all walks of life, including you. We have different stories, but we come together here.
I want to ramp up with a timeline of things coming up for you. I'm sure that you're familiar with the deadline to submit your statement of intent to register. The essay are so happy to see that many of you have done that already, but our deadline for those of you thinking about it still is May 1st quickly following. That will be your deadline to submit your housing application. My admissions is going to be your main resource to view all the deadlines, and once you Sir, you will find a checklist with everything that needs to be done.
Including the dates that they must be completed by. So as I said earlier, your page will activate and you will see a lot of other options there after.
You can ask us any questions about those tasks or anything else you may have just in the future via my admissions or the asking advisor questions link that will also appear on the page. And it's also in our made admissions page. We're also definitely going to be answering a lot of questions here. I made sure to leave a lot of time for that as we end the presentation. I want to remind you that will be hosting another web and R4R Pacific Northwest Friends on April 23rd I saw that a lot of students were actually here in California.
Which is super awesome I'm. I'm so glad that we can be here to provide information for any and all of our admitted students.
This was originally listed for students from the Pacific Northwest, so just for you guys specifically, I wanted to invite you to join our Pacific Northwest Student Group on WhatsApp. We piloted student WhatsApp groups last year with some of our international students and found that everyone really enjoyed connecting with one another before coming to campus. So we created this group where we've also added are admitted class from Hawaii. So it's going to be a Hawaii and Pacific Northwest students group so you can connect.
And make some friends early on so you can download WhatsApp on your phone. A scan the QR code on the screen. This presentation will be archived so you will be able to access it later on or we also put the link right there. I will send a follow up email to everyone as well. That includes the QR code for California students. There are other ways to connect another groups specifically for California students as well, but please any and all students are welcome. I know many of you have probably lived.
In other states in the United States. So if you feel a special connection to this group of students, you are always welcome to join. As I said, a Davis, a sense of community is important, so you are welcome anywhere that you would like to be included.
So you guys, not the hard part, is over the applications, the exams, the waiting. You have been admitted an that is such a huge accomplishment. So enjoy this. Take your time. Ask your questions in the chat box. Now start to think of them typing them and ultimately we look forward to the opportunity to be your home for the next four years. So let's see if anybody has any questions over here.
Any questions out there for admission students?
From admissions about your tasks about any other things that you might be seeing up there.

Does UCD have any direct connections to medical opportunities in Sacramento?
Ooh, are there they go. I was thinking I was thinking I did such a wonderful job that nobody had any questions. Just kidding. Just kidding. We're so happy we're so happy. Let's see. Let's see. There's only a few, so we'll just go through here.

Will the date to SIR be delayed due to COVID-19?
Alright, just a moment here. While we get some of them in here.
Zoe Matteson
06:16:30 PM
What is your favorite thing about UCD?
Zoe asks what is your favorite thing about UC Davis will start there.
It really is that sense of community. We hear it from everyone who visits are campus. I saw that like 50% of you who who visited our campus hopefully got a sense of that community, especially if you were on campus during the school year. When you know, hopefully during the week where students are sort of running around and biking around between classes, it's a very.
Comforting place, it's very. It's a huge like we said where are the biggest UC campus and we do have a large student population, but all of the opportunities, the friendliness in the general sense of community in our campus really just makes it seem so much smaller than it is. It's so approachable and we truly are a welcoming community to all students from all parts of the world, from whatever their interests maybe.
Wengelawit Belgu
06:17:40 PM
Out of state tuition is so expensive! any tips?
Uh, you see, Davis really takes a genuine interest in serving our students, and we've created a culture academically, even within our sort of hierarchy structure as an institution, and then all the way down to something as comforting as like a nice farmers market option that's approachable for students. It just creates a sense of home for every for every one. And it truly is a very friendly place to be.

06:18:06 PM
Could you talk about the UC DC program?
Hold on 1 second as I confirm here with my colleague. Alright, will the day for Sr be delayed due to Cove it? Currently we have not changed the deadline date were still working with May 1 being the Sr deadline. If you are having some issues with that deadline would I suggest to you is right now that we still have some time before the deadline I would send any academic concerns.
That you might have through your my admissions page, there is an update link there right on the right hand side when you log in, there is an update link there where you can submit information that is linked to your whole student file at UC Davis if you have. If you're having transcript issues, exam issues with your school, your school remains closed.
You're not sure if you're going to be a transcript deadline date. You're not sure about.

What is the chance instruction will be online in the fall?
You know housing or flying and what those options are going to be. For us. We're moving forward with the fall plan as is our our, our plan of action currently is that we will open in the fall. Students will be arriving and we are continuing to move in a positive direction. Healthwise where we foresee that that is still a possibility. And of course this is a very very fluid thing. That's lots of pieces are in motion.
Samantha Ayala
06:19:53 PM
How is the dining plan like? Do we get like tokens to enter or is it like cash on your card?
And we ultimately right now feel that that is still an option for us, so we're keeping everything the same when you submit your information via the ask an advisor that sorry, not be asking advisor link via update link on your my admissions.
A person is reading that on the other end and actual admissions advisor who can look at your whole file and see if there's an opportunity for making an exception.
Or or being more flexible with our deadline, but we have to hear from you that there is some sort of barrier with meeting the May one decision date.
Sheryl Munshan

Is there is an Sr deposit? If it's a problem with the deposit, that's also something that you are able to submit a waiver for an we move that deposit to be due to a later date. So if the issue is the waiver fee there is a way for you to submit an exemption for that. But because that is really the only thing that is tying you to us at that moment, is $100 registration free and submitting that document online. We think that most students are able to make those decisions.

At this time and again, we're being super flexible. We know that everything right now is truly on a case by case basis is everyone is in a different situation. Why will all dealing with similar challenges as well? So please reach out to us. We are there on the other end of that link. On the other side of my admissions, checking those questions daily to help you. So if there is a barrier there.
Let us know and we will work with you.
I was a long answer, but ultimately I'm saying we're here and we're flexible. We just need you to communicate with us what your barriers maybe.
Anastasia Mifsud
06:21:35 PM
Where in the housing process are you able to request a specific roommate?
And our next question is out of state. Tuition is so expensive. Any tips? Yes. First of all, there is a lot of resources on our financial aid and scholarship page. Alot of external resources for things that you can take advantage of that you might not have thought of just yet. So definitely once you check out the financial aid information for under my admissions for your particular case, please visit the financial aid website and check out there.
Other resources if you need additional funding or you want to work towards getting additional funding, another option that we do offer through FAFSA for all of our students is the work study option. We do have work study opportunities for students from their first year of attendance and a lot of students are already participating in these types of activities and academic enrichment opportunities on our campus where they can get work experience and money.
Nikola Brzezny
06:22:40 PM
How difficult is it to switch majors or move between colleges after the 1st quarter?
Yesenia Velazco
06:22:51 PM
Hi Anastasia Please visit the link with instructions to request roommates https://housing.ucdavis.edu/apply/requesting-roommates/
I talked about it a little bit earlier, like our bus system. We have student workers in almost every Department on our campus. Our coffee houses, fully student run and a lot of the perks of work study is that you do get a higher payment per hour. Your salary is higher, so those kinds of things. There's additional resources about them on the financial aid page. So don't look at that page and think that's it.
Um, do some more research. Uhm, check out the website and ultimately you can also call our financial aid office, Anna financial aid advisor will be able to help you right now that we're doing things virtually. I know that there will be links for you guys to do more of an email or like a chat situation, and those are great ways for you to connect with someone on the other side over here in financial aid to assist you and give you some other opportunities in the next question is about are you CDC program? Thank you for asking.
That is a super popular program on our campus. We do a Washington DC program that we do have a UC center there, so the program each year is comprised of a cohort of students from all of the UC campuses, and you take courses at the UC center there in Washington, DC. Students also will enroll in some academic courses at W or American University, and there's also typically some.
Internship opportunities as well in some of the federal offices there, so it's a super exciting program. Typically it's a junior year program. It's an excellent program for students interested in political science. We also have a fabulous international relations major as well, and there's more information about the CDC program through our study abroad options.
What is the chance instruction will be on line in the fall? Ask Lynette truly.
Reena Murray
06:24:55 PM
What opinions of students transitioning from city life to a more suburban area like UCD have you heard, if any?
I don't know. I don't have an answer for that. Um, like I said earlier, there's a lot of things that continue to change daily things appear to be going in a positive direction, which is why we are moving forward with everything according to sort of the normal plan for fall.
Nicole Ong
06:25:35 PM
Can you talk a little about the honors program at Davis + if there are any extra steps that honors students will have to take when they SIR?
And that's that's just my honest answer. I have no idea if things change, then we will have to change with them. We will give students you know lots of opportunities and options, as many as we can possibly offer them. If things do change an once again, you know everything is going to be on a sort of case by case basis. Here moving forward and we have a dedicated staff who is excited to welcome you to our family, whatever that may look like.
In the fall and we are here to make this experience great and to work with you and to work with the Times and what will be happening come fall. So we remain hopeful and positive and excited currently. And no matter what we are looking forward to welcoming you guys.
Where is the housing where in the housing process are you able to request a specific roommate? Awesome question. When you fill out the housing application, there is a section for you to list another student. You want to find out how their name is legally list listed on the UC application. In case it might be a little bit different or they go by a nickname. So double check that and then you both have to put each other on the application. So that's how we sort of connect them.
You put their name, they put your name and then they'll be synced in the housing application system.
Just to throw it out there, if you don't know another student yet and you're going to be just sort of requesting a random assignment, we do have a housing application. Does have a really sort of in depth questionnaire about your living style. You know whether you're in the early bird or more of a night owl.
Nikola Brzezny
06:27:06 PM
As a dual-enrolled student out of state, how can i transfer credits? Do I need to submit a syllabus?
Brinkley Webb
06:27:23 PM
can you switch majors BEFORE first quarter
And what your study habits are. I like I love to study in my room, you know, in quiet or quite music or I plan on going to the library a lot to study. So things like that preferences lifestyle preferences like that you'll indicate on the questionnaire and then the housing office will match up students with students with a comprable idea of what their lifestyle is going to be.
Nicholas says how difficult is it to switch majors or move between colleges after the first quarter? So if you are, you're coming in as a freshman. You actually aren't technically in any major yet you are on sort of umbrella under your individual college, but for the most part you are still able to move between colleges. The first, the first set of requirements that students.
Work on is our general education requirements. It's a good opportunity for you to take some introductory classes toward your major and also satisfies RG requirements which you need to do for graduation. So while you're fulfilling these requirements, alot of them overlap there very general. Like I said, Gen Ed Courses so it's your opportunities to sort of check out some of the things that you may be interested.
Weather that it is in the college are currently in. Or perhaps you're considering. OK, now I've selected Davis. Now I've looked a little more in depth at their offerings. Perhaps I'm looking at something in the College of AG versus the College of letters and science. It is still very fluid within the first year for you to try some classes and see where really you will find the best academic fit, and then most students toward the end of their second year is when they officially start to.
Fill out the documents and whatnot. The request to declare their major.
Hannah Villanueva
06:29:37 PM
I am currently undergoing EMDR, is there continuation program for students such as myself?
So you have about two years to sort of figure it out. I think most students spend the first year exploring the second year, really solidifying because you're moving towards taking more of the major requirements for the major that you're working towards that point. So it's pretty easy and very fluid to move around, because as freshmen we really have not locked you into a college and we definitely have not put you in any major you indicated on the application is sort of, we understand is sort of more of a general idea of what you might want to study.
Yesenia Velazco
06:29:43 PM
Hi Hannah, Heres a link to the Medical Center and Local Therapists https://health.ucdavis.edu/medstaffwellbeing/localtherapists.html
Sheryl Munshan
06:30:03 PM
what is module for fee payment? semester or annual
But most students move around. I believe about 70% of our students end up declaring a major that was not what they initially put on there. You see, on their application, and that's fine. The only exception to this is the College of engineering, the engineering programs and their curriculum. Don't include these general education requirements. Students in the College of engineering are taking.
Liz Sandoval Vasquez
06:30:20 PM
Are academic advisers accessible and effective?
Zoe Matteson
06:30:21 PM
What is it like trying to fit in on such a big campus?
Are taking a more expensive expanded math classes. A lot of labs, more chemistry, more physics than other students, and so they really eats up where Gen Ed would sort of fit in because that's such a specialized track, students really need to be in that college, and on that track from their first from the first quarter, there's a little bit of flexibility to move around, but it's highly unlikely. But if you're not already in the College of engineering before you enter.
That you will be able to switch into engineering. It's a different path. So right now if you are thinking whoops, maybe engineering is something that I'm thinking about. You need to update that through my admissions so that we can take a look and See and give you a realistic answer whether it will be an option for you to do that.
What opinions of students transistor question? What opinions of students transitioning from city life to a more suburban area like UC Davis have you heard? If any? Cool thanks Rena Um Davis is.
Aditi Naveen Sharma Rudrapada
06:31:38 PM
Throughout high school, I took a lot of courses at my community college how do I know which ch=ourses transfer?
It you know it is suburban, for sure. We're very green, were very forested, really. Are surrounding area is our campus, our town, a little bit downtown area. And then there is a lot of farms. Sacramento, the capital, which is a huge city, is only about 20 minutes away. So if you miss the big city or you like big city activities, it's right there. It's very easy to get to. You get free public transportation.
Um, with your student ID, you get free access to all of that and students by against we have a train station I Metrolink train station right in downtown Davis. Do that's iaccessible, so it is very easy without owning a vehicle to get to the city. So the great benefit about that is you do get both. Sides are campus, I believe, really sort of encourages a community life and to keep you focused on your studies.
You know, if you look at our listing of majors, Davis is a very science heavy University. We offer a ton of science programs just given our involvement in those fields, so I believe our campus community really caters to helping students state focused. Many of them are in the same boat. Obviously we do have, you know, a liberal arts and humanities courses, of Course.
Aditi Naveen Sharma Rudrapada
06:33:17 PM
Is it easy to Double Major in Biological Sciences And Computer Sciences and how would I indict that right now?
Uh, an and all of that plays into that, but I think students have the opportunity to remain focused with a sort of more chill vibe. Anna sort of more chill town. And if you want big city, or if that's your style, it is so easily accessible, but it doesn't really come into your day-to-day life to impact your studies, both in terms of distraction or even just things like noise, noise level it is, you know, calm and quiet and very catering to.
Sonia Patel
06:33:23 PM
For AP scores, if we sent it to a UC other than Davis, does Davis still get it or do we need to send the scores directly to Davis?
Your education, our town, so I think that is an awesome benefit to Davis. You kind of don't have to choose. You do have very easy access to the city. San Francisco is also a popular weekend trip for students and that's about like 90 minutes away or so. Also easy to get too for like a day outing.
Yesenia Velazco
06:34:14 PM
Hi Sonia, Please send AP scores directly to UC Davis as well :)
Alright, I'm gonna call asking you talk a little about the honors program at Davis if there are any extra steps that honor students will have to take when they, Sir, at this time there isn't anything for you to do for the honors program. Honors levels programs are going to be sort of major and Department based, so that is something that you will sort of figure out once you are here on campus and start enrollment, you can work with your academic advisors. I would suggest just from your first term of attendance.
Make a connection with an academic advisor in your college, or if you're already pretty solid on your major, you can start building that relationship with your major Department and find a connection there and then work with them to see what kind of opportunities are available in terms of honors or additional diploma notations.
Uh Brinkley ask? Can you switch majors before first quarter? You don't have to 'cause you're not actually in any major. Uhm, so you don't have one, so you do that. The only thing that I was mentioning earlier is if you are not in the College of engineering and you think you want to be an engineer. And that's something that you should reach out to us on your my admissions page.
And see if that's going to be an option. 'cause like I said, it's a little bit more difficult to switch into College of Engineering thereafter if you're not already already in it, so that's the only.
Brinkley Webb

Sort of, quote Unquote switch that we ask you to let us know about now. If you know that otherwise you don't have to do any switching 'cause you're not doing anything. Which is awesome. All of the opportunities are ahead of you. Literally any major that you want to pick.
What is the module for fee, payment, semester or annual? There's a few options. Once you thank you for your question, Cheryl, once you submit your statement of intent to register and get registered sometime toward the middle of summer or so, you will get additional information about from the registrar about payment plans there. I believe there is monthly by term and annual.
So and again, super flexible, except especially with what's happening right now. Please reach out to us if you need some other alternative, but that's pretty expensive as far as standard options for payment, so most students are going to fit in sort of one of those options, but you really get to choose, and you can change it later on if the situation changes and you want to pay under a different format.
Liz asks are academic advisors accessible and effective? They are and we have lots of different types of Advisors of academic advisors. So overall there's advisors for the colleges, so the General College of letters and Science Advisors which can do overall advising, help you work towards declaring an official major. Also making sure you meet any other graduation requirements that you need to be aware of.
Um, by the end of your four years, then there once you have selected your major officially, there's also your major advisors which will help keep you on track to completing the correct requirements to get that degree in the major that you intend. There is student advisors. We have peer advising, there's stands all over campus. There's one on our welcome center. There's also chat options, study group options as well.

When do we set up a course plan for the next 4 years of college at UC Davis?
I'm for you to study with other students tutoring available.
Let me think about other. I mean there's lots lots of academic advisors available. And like I said, different kinds of options for you to make up in person appointment. Make a phone appointment, chat online. If you're passing by one of those peer advisor stands, you can ask questions there so we make it as accessible as possible for you. What we don't do in big universities don't do this, which is sometimes a little bit of a shock to students.

For AP scores, do we get elective credit for passing if we don't meet the requirement to get credit for the class directly?
Um, depending on what size of a high school you went too, we don't make you make any advising appointments.
It they are sort of self made so you will need to reach out to advisors. We are here. We have lots of different options for you to reach out to us but there is no mandated advising appointments for students. So it really needs to be you looking for the help that you need? We're here to provide it. We have tons and tons of options but as a big campus, that's how we operate and that's what most colleges are. And sometimes you know students aren't used to that because you do have set.
Advising appointments at your high school with your advisors there and that might be something that you're more used to just being part of the schedule.
And it's a little bit more autonomous on our campus.

I have completed my prerequisites, now I would like to get a jump on planning my course load. But, I haven't been able to find the gen courses I need, needs for my prospective major, and so on. How can I find that information/contact my advisor? Is that available this early?
Which is a good. Here's a good follow-up. Questions oy what is it like trying to fit in on such a big campus? I really, truly mean when I said what I said earlier about my favorite part about campus and it's really that we try our very best.

Any tips for students who want to live off campus?
Offer things that our students want on our campus to help them feel comfortable, personal academically from a mental health standpoint. All of those things are important for us to be healthy and happy and succeed, and we try to offer as much as possible to our students to both support that and also to help them find other students who have genuine interests like them. So from our student groups.
To the programming that we allow students to put on themselves on campus. Um, our academic.
Razors are our student health.
Student health services. To support our students with anything they need, like physical and mental health wise.
We create groups smaller groups of smaller communities within our big campus community.
And we've also made it super easy to get around, so you can always get to your friends to club meetings because it's so easy to just buy on campus or hop on one of our unitrans bus is an get there. You can also walk, you know our campuses. So beautiful going to walk. There is an enjoyable peaceful thing, so I think that that's how we have created such a great large community is by really focusing on the quality of our small communities.
And not just keeps everybody happy.
Let me see we got a lot of questions here, so let me go back here.

I already have an associates degree so will I be able to change my major Before first quarter?
I'm trying to see which ones are a little bit more major.
Sony asked for AP courses if we sent it to AUC other than Davis, Davis still get it. Or do we need to send the scores directly to UC Davis? The only thing that we score share between you sees is the essay tea and the AC T exams. So for AP scores you will have to send them directly to UC Davis. That is an item on your conditions of admission. So W take another look at that checklist because you will see it listed.
On there that if you have them, you do have to send them directly to UC Davis.
When do we I DD asked when do we set up a course plan for the next four years of of UC Davis? So one you can already view that course plan through our general catalog. If you go to the main UC Davis website whichisucdavis.edu, you'll see a link there to the academic catalog. You can actually already check out the general education plan for your college and then the education plan for every single one of our majors there.

When do we register for classes?
You can look at all the course requirements so you can start to check it out. Now I always still students. That's a really great way to look at some specific majors that really connect with you. We have a lot of specialized programs here on UC Davis, so for example, if what you're interested in is environmental science is we have so many majors that sort of fall under that big general category. So taking a look at the different Major General catalog and what the actual.
Hannah Villanueva
06:43:13 PM
Where is that located? (for 4yr plan)
This is our the course titles and they have descriptions on there, you can get a real sense of what you will actually be studying in all of these different major offerings and that will help you may be pared down some of your decisions that you're deciding between and then that way when you come to campus and start to work with your academic advisors here which is really where you start to actively plan out your courses. I would say you know once you get to campus. But it does start at Orientation, 'cause That's where you're going to pick your first.
You first term of courses, but it really develops within those that first year with your academic advisors. Once you get to them. If you've already sort of looked through the majors on the catalog, you'll be able to come in to them and say These are the ones that appealed to me. What do they have in common? What are the differences? What are some things that I may be having considered yet? And then they can give you a more specific breakdown of the programs. So I would say start now and let's face it, we've got some extra time on our hands right now to look.
Through the Internet, so come take a look at our catalogs. It will also get you really pumped about the programs and the actual things that you're going to do in your classes. Once you get here.
Merite here's another question for my detailed I think hasn't been answered, so I have lived in California for all my life, but since I'm on a visa, I was admitted as an international student. How do I gain in state tuition and how much is it so it doesn't apply just to international student out of state, students also have frequent questions about in state tuition.

Can I get credit if I completed an IB Diploma? If I do, how much and what score do I need? Thank you!
It's a complicated assessment it has to do with taxes where you have residency are you independent where is that person a legal resident of it is complex there are really really great resources on our registrar page on Bolivia center has the link she can throw the link maybe into the chat for me so there's a lot of resources on our registrar's website the register is the person.
Yesenia Velazco
06:45:32 PM
Residency website : https://registrar.ucdavis.edu/tuition/residence
Is that sort of office that assesses fees what kind of fees you pay they SS residency and run transcripts things like that so there's a lot of resources on that website for you to learn what residency is legally and sort of a plan if you would like to work towards establishing residency so you definitely want to take a look at that now there are steps that you could start to take potentially to establish residency?
Or to find out if you currently qualify for in state tuition so you know the the short answer is you have to check the website because it is not admissions that decides this. So unfortunately I don't have the detailed information, but residency does yessenia put the link in there the residency website. So take a look there for more detailed information and also they have contact us information listed there for you to ask more specific questions to your case.
Brian asked any tips for students who want to live off campus. Another great question. We do still support our students who would like to live off campus within the housing office so they do have resources for you to check out where sort of the popular apartment areas are, where to look for apartments, finding roommates.
But to live off campus as well so there is still lots of resources for you on the housing website if you seek to live off campus most of them to live off campus do live in the surrounding area in sort of our downtown Davis area and the more residential areas of Davis which are right around campus I want you to know that the town of Davis is a platinum certified bike friendly town so our bike lanes extend.
On to campus all throughout downtown and all of our surrounding areas you can bike safely onto campus very easily, and we have a very sort of supportive community of this bike friendliness. So friendly drivers we're all considerate of the bike lanes. That's part of our life at Davis. So if you do live off campus, know that you will have access to getting on campus on your bike safely. And like I said you, we have a free student transit system as well about system that you can access, but definitely check out.
The housing resources for living off campus. That would be really helpful for you too.
Now let me see when do we register for classes. Probably thank you. It's a great question. It starts with the orientation, so once you submit your Sir, one of those things that will also activate on your my admissions page is going to be access to the the orientation program. There are different options, so right now it's definitely going to be virtual for students. And then there will be. The plan is for there to be.
A in a student on campus orientation the first week when students move onto campus and we have our welcome week activities before classes actually begin, so it will be on line. The orientation you will do some online web in our programs. You will also be in contact with your first academic advisor and you will work on choosing your course is an enrolling in those courses. We have a pass system.
Yesenia Velazco
06:48:55 PM
Hi Nikola, Please contact housing https://housing.ucdavis.edu/how-to-apply/residence-halls/
Here so you will have two in Roy Enrollment appointment slots. That's when you will be able to log on to the system and enroll in your classes. So you split up your classes between 2:00 and Roman appointments and your advisors will help guide you through that. The orientation program programming is going to teach you how about our past system, and so the first set of enrollment will happen through orientation, so that's going to be virtual. We expect all students are going to be able to access that, but if you have issues with Internet access.
Or something else like that. They do have a contact phone number on and they are taking phone calls at the orientation office to help you. If you need alternate accommodations on because you can't do the virtual orientation, but that's where it starts.
Let's see, there's some credit questions. Can I get our will ask can I get credit if I completed an IB diploma? If I do, how much and what score do I need? Very specific question, but yes we do award college level credit for I be higher level exams with scores of 5, six or Seven. The IB diploma you need to receive a minimum of 40 points and then will and then you will receive. I believe it's 30 quarter units.
And so that was pretty specific. We also will award credit for AP exams if you have some AP exams with scores of three or higher. We also will award some academic credit for those as well. You'll get all of that information at orientation also and learn through the orientation.
The program what you can use those credits for how those credits are applied to your degree, and as you're sending us your document this summer, you will also start to have access to your student system online where you will actually see that credit start to appear on your academic record.

Do we have to take placement tests for English and Math?
Let's see when I ask where is that located for the four year plan? Oh what I was talking about was the UC Davis catalog. So if you just, I believe it's ucdavis.edu/catalog and that information will will. That website will link you to our all of our major program breakdowns. An all of our requirements to graduate, which is like our general education plan, unit requirements. So all of that is listed.
Yesenia Velazco
06:51:27 PM
Hi Sheryl, "One way to satisfy the requirement is passing the AWPE (Analytical Writing Placement Exam) offered by the UC system every May. The May 2020 AWPE, however, has been cancelled due to COVID-19. We will share more information about what you might do in place of the cancelled AWPE very soon. Please check this website after May 1st for more detailed information." Please keep checking the link https://elw.ucdavis.edu/
On our general catalog, an again orientation is going to go over that information with you as well, and your academic advisor that you get in contact with.

If I choose to transfer credit from a community college as a freshman student, does my gpa at the community college transfer as well?
Is any I gave you some more information there? What about transferable college courses idea? Since we were on the on the information about credit? Yeah, if you have taken college level courses we should know about it. 'cause the information was on your UC application. So submitting a college transcript will also be on your checklist. On my admissions, you will send that with us. To us the same way you would send us AP exams or I believe diploma results you're going to.
Request them from a college. They'll send the transcript to us. If the courses were taking any California Community College, you can already see if the courses are transferable by checking the Community College information. If they are taking outside of the California Community College system, we get the transcript. We evaluate the courses as long as it's comparable, just something taught in the UC system from an accredited college. You get the credit and then your academic advisors will help.
Guide you on how to use that credit, how you can use it.
See when I ask, are there any restrictions for service dogs on campus? Absolutely not. You do have to register it with our student housing if you're going to learn housing, you have to register your service dog on campus like let us know that you have one.
But that's really it. We are. We love all animals at Davis. All animals are welcome. The more the merrier.

For the transcript of the community colleges what if I decide to take more college courses over the summer
Edward asked if I choose to transfer credit from a Community College as a freshman student, does my GPA at the Community College transfer as well? Another specific question really awesome. One transfer credit from a Community College does come in with all of the notations from the original school, so it will show the course you completed the unit worth and the Gray that you received on your transcript. But the GPA that is calculated.

If I take an ACT on June 20 will it satisfy the elf?
On your UC Davis record is a UC GPA, so the only time any outside classes from UC Davis are counted into that GPA is if you take like a summer class at UC Berkeley or you go to UCLA and take a summer course, or you do some other program like the CDC exchange going to that, you CDC center those you see courses will count on the UC GPA, but no other outside courses are really calculated in there.
Although it will be listed.
If I take an AC T on June 20th will satisfy ELF.

I don't know what the LF is. English language proficiency up if that's what you're asking about. I believe that we can use it, especially if it's requested of you on your admissions contract, but that might be a more specific question and we can be in contact with you after this chat to see what it is that you're trying to meet, 'cause it might be more specific to your contract. Oh, English language writing.
You you know that I don't know we're gonna have to check the the website. That's a good question.
Maybe you said you could check it out, but we're going to run out of time here, so check the website just to make sure there's not a date restriction. I don't think there is.
