I always get asked what is UC Davis ranking? What are we looking at and things like that and I can tell you my experience that you see Davis was amazing. I'm at really some really really great human beings in the world I want to dance. I college and I transfer into UC Davis and I had really great experience at the end as well. You know if any of you are from DNS, I'm assuming that you might be so yay. OK. I see some people from DNS as well so I went to Deanza, got my associate degree there you can see.
In top right hand side picture that was my graduation from the NS A.

hello! :)
When I first learned about UC Davis was when I was at Deanza. So I go to all those transfer fairs. Office hours of admission officers and things like that so.
We am so when you are. So when I went to deanza I go to open office hours of admission officers and things like that and I met Coleman who was commissioned officer from UC Davis back in the days. He retired already so but he was my advisor from UC Davis and I had really a pleasure meeting him. I just thought the warm from him an I didn't really understand the whole college town experience and things like that and he was trying to explain it to me an and.
Jungwon Yoon
06:05:14 PM
Hi everyone :))
Kiyanti Schlank
06:05:20 PM
hi!!
When I first went to Davis that everything makes sense. Everything he told me about being a college town. Everything is everyone is so friendly and all that so I got some really great advice harm from him and I finally got into UC Davis. I made my journey, there, so I was the class of 2009. So I transfer from the ends in 2007. I actually didn't start a dance on 2006. So I you know the answer was also a quarter system so I have some transitioning going through that.
But the advisors really help me to get all my classes I needed, and then I, you know, 10 plus years ago I was at your spot. I was trying to decide where I want to go and when I was able to visit the campus. I fell in love with it and I know that right now it's really hard to do campus visits and things like that because of COVID-19 and we are well aware of the situation. So we're making a few options for you to be able to meet us online like this. And also we have some.
Campus Tour Campus Tour Virtual Campus Tour on Instagram. So if you want to go back, go to Instagram and take a look at that is on our process and you can also do our virtual campus tour if you haven't done that already.
So when I decided to go to UC Davis high didn't really know what to expect because the answer was a small, much smaller community. I wasn't sure if I was for big schools and things like that.
But I actually fell in love with the campus when I first went there. It is true that when you come to our school you might feel lost because we're the largest UC campus with 5300 acres of land. So it's a huge campus, right? When I was deciding I was also looking at different resources and things like that. I might really great friends throughout the years when I was it Davis. Also, I found a few student jobs that I actually held for of oil during almost the whole time that I wasn't Davis.
I used to work at the Alumni Association as a student assistant, so I'm going to talk tell you all about how I found my first job and things like that and all the resources that I had used, but I wasn't want you to look at the picture on the left hand side, which is if some of you could recognize that chef Martin Yan. He's so he's the guy from yanking cook. He's also an alum of UC Davis, so I started work at 11 Association and he was working with Alumni Association and I was actually able to get a full time job at his company.
After I graduated, all because of the connections of UC Davis and also my student job at UC Davis.
So when I think about my days that you see gave us everything I think about is the people is really my favorite thing, the community, the sense of community that I got the support that I got. We also have a lot of activities and events, but my favorite thing was really that I was able to meet people from such diverse background from everywhere. Pretty much they will share you and then just so friendly everyone was just so friendly that they're willing to share their.
Knowledge and experience with you. The slide. Before that you saw that. I mean, some of my friends. I actually met some of them in Class. I think one of the biggest challenge as a transfer student was that when I got to campus, I felt like everyone already found the community. So and also missed orientation and you shouldn't do that. You should definitely sign up for orientation. Mean people. I miss my orientation because back in the days orientation is during summer time and the answer is 1/4 system. So I wasn't able to make it to orientation, which I kind of missed the first opportunity to meet everyone.
Right, so I felt like when I went there I was trying to meet friends and all that. But you know, after a couple weeks have to go to a few events and things like that. I met people from Class. I might perform clubs, activities and everyone or just so welcoming. I also volunteer at a few places to kind of find my community, so I definitely recommend you to research on what you're looking for. You know what kind of communities, what kind of clubs or activities or what kind of student job or part-time draw internship or research pertaining you're looking at.
We have all that for you. You have the definitely go. Take advantage of that, but definitely I would say, you know, do your research and make sure that you know what you are looking for because we definitely have that.
So I am so I'm going to talk a little more about how my favorite thing at UC Davis. And then I'm going to move on to tell you how to make the most out of this two years. So my favorite thing about UC Davis is of course, the beautiful campus and also the people that I told you about and also the unlimited opportunities that we have as a campus. I want to say being a college town, I know somebody might have visited Davis, our campuses right next to downtown. So you can go to downtown anytime you want. You can also go to.
So many international local eateries. We also have farmers market every Saturday morning, even during covert right now. We still have a farmers market on Saturday morning. We all keep our social distance and everything still happening. So with there are so many things that's going on. I also like how animal frontally arc emphasis. You can see animals. You will seek. Scroll is everywhere. Would definitely love our cows on campus. A lot of students would go and take selfies with I go take a look at them.
And pet them every time I walk by. I also really like how bike friendly we are. I definitely wasn't a biker when I start at Davis, but I Davis is really fast so we all walk around. Will bike around. We also take the bus around and all the buses are available for students for free, so we definitely will be definitely used a student ID you'll be able to go anywhere in town and then also I love our sunsets at UC Davis. I just really love you know.
Also, my favorite one of my favorite thing to do is to go to Aggie Stadium, watch football game or any. I'm not a huge spot person, but I definitely like watching the skies an open area and things like that and in a few slides I will have a shot offer. However stadium look like in all that is really beautiful. So what I want to tell you is that you have come verify you have done everything you can to get admitted to one of the best universities. Some of you have already committed to us and some of you are still deciding. So I hope that after I tell you what kind of resources that we have.
It will be able to help you to navigate Anne for any reason. If you need an extension of your Sir, your statement of intended registration that line. If you need an extension, you can let us know on your my emissions account. So having access to your measured my emission is count is very important because everything we need you to do it will be on your my emission. Listen everything. Alright, So How do you make the most out of your two years at UC Davis? I definitely would say being a transfer student. I definitely had a plan.
What I was going to do, and I know a lot of you do, because you know when you have to go through your I can't see or all the prerequisites of the requirements. You have a plan that you wanted to transfer to a four year University, so I definitely know that a lot of you have a plan, so make sure that you're working your plan and also have multiple points, right research and get involved and see what kind of communities where can think you want to get involved. Also know your resources. We are big University, but we also have a lot of resources and support to our students. We definitely encourage you to take advantage of that.
So I'm I would say also one thing that I learned from my Community College days is to go to office hours to get to know my professors. I would encourage you to the same when you come to UC Davis. One of the things that I learned in the hard way before my first cover quarters is that you do have to prepare for many of your classes to your reading in advance.
Like I kind of got by when I was in college without doing all the readings, but I would say for you know when you go to a UC and things like that I would say definitely you will have to go to your you know definitely your classes of course. Do your readings before classes you know. Try to find like small group to study with your study group and definitely take advantage of office hours. Even doing this time right now for COVID-19 alot of We are all going through online learning right? So since.
The end of March we have done online.
Finals and then we also went online for spring and also for summer quarter so all the resources are still online all the office hours is 2 online so you get to connect with your professors, you Advisors, whoever you need to talk to. I would say if you're not sure about you know your plans, but people are minor and things like that definitely go talk to an advisor. They will help you to figure it out. I know two years feels like it could be a long time for some people, but it's actually a very short time so I would say definitely make the most out of it.
And then find a part time job or internship. So when I first started in Davis I just went to the internship in Korea Santa. I look for jobs and I've actually found a job by the end of first quarter at UC Davis at the Alumni Association, I applied for a position I did not get the job in the 1st place. So what I did was I followed up with, you know a call and asking for feedback how I did my interview and things like that and it turned out that they were looking for someone.
That was a different skill set, so they recommended me for another Department actually.
Interview with another Department within Dylan Association. And then I got a job there so I would say I think one of the things will transfer. Student is that we are a little more mature. Have to figuring out things and also some of you might have jobs on the side and things like that definitely follow up. Ask questions and I would not have been here talking to you today if I didn't make that call and ask for feedback from my job at UC Davis. First job at UC Davis. So I would definitely encourage that.
If you look for a job and internship because that helped me to transition into UC Davis really well.
And then also a lot of the resources that you might already know. We talk a little bit about college town vibe and also club intramural sports. UC Davis, where NCA Division One sports cool. So we have 25 sports that are in state Division One. You will be able to participate if you want. You can go try out if you want or if you want to stay active and you can use our activities and Recreation Center. We have a lot of club sports and intramural sports and I think.
Like I share with you earlier, my favorite thing is cool to sports event. I'm I like watching game I don't. I don't actually participate in much sports, but I'd say definitely go watch games. That was one of my first activities that you gave us was to go watch a football game I still couldn't really figure out how football works.
But I like going to the games because I like how you know you can see people cheering together. You will see a lot of alumni come back and all that. It's really cool activity.
And then as a student, you go to all these sports event for free. So and then if you sit in the Aggie Pack area, sometimes you get some free swag and all that and I would definitely recommend go to game.
And then we also have all the adventure and craft center. If you are interesting outdoor stuff, or if you're interested in art and craft, definitely we have over 800 student clubs as well. So I would definitely encourage to go find clubs and activities that you enjoyed. I shared with you that I miss orientation right? So and then what happened was because I miss our intention. I want to know how it is so. I applied to be a transfer orientation leader in my third year, the summer off my third year, so I actually wasn't orientation.
Leader and I learned all about orientation, so orientation is something that we definitely encourage you to do. Right now I'm going to talk a little more about orientation a little bit. Right now we don't really know if online instruction is going to be happening on our campus. We don't know. We're hoping that it will, but you never know, right? And we're keeping a close monitor of the development with Cove it and everything and will keep all our images students posted on what will be doing. But going back to orientation.
It was a really great opportunity for me to learn all about. You know what do you see? This is all about and helping students to register for classes and all that. I'm definitely kind of make up for my missing orientation experience, so that was really nice, so.
I would definitely encourage you to look at you know activities and things that have meanings to you, right?
And then we have a lot of campus resources that I'm going to talk about how this is the shot, I was talking about this is our beautiful beautiful Eddie Stadium and you'll be able to you know go watch games there and things like that, and look at the sunset. I just love. It anyway, so we have a lot of different resources and I'm going to highlight a few for you. Today, the first one, that I wanted to talk about is the internship in Korea center so once you are a student at UC Davis, you will be able to register an account.
With our intranet, internally Korea Santa through a portal core handshake, it has different jobs, opportunities and things like that on there and we also have a quarterly internship and career fair with additions for some. For example, engineering would have smaller fairs, specifically focusing engineering and things like that, but every quarter would have affair. That looks exactly like this that companies come to our students for internships or looking for a graduate for different opportunities and things like that. and I definitely encourage you to go to.
Utilize the workshop and also curious studio like I sat right now we cannot meet in person so we have all those do meetings and all that. They're still doing advising through zoom. Our intention Career Center. So I definitely encourage you take advantage of it and you know, find a part time job internship that fits your interests and things like that.
And if any of your interest in going undergraduate research, you're in luck, right? We have one of the best undergraduate Research Center within the UC system. I would definitely encourage you took advantage of that. The image that you see is actually our research for Virtual research townhall that happened a few weeks ago. Since we're not able to meet in person, we all got creative and this is a zoo meeting is assumed townhall that actually within a minute of them opening. It's like there is over 300 people trying to get into the room. So it.
Kind of went to the capacity. I would definitely encouraged to take advantage of undergraduate research. You don't have to be in science major or you know Stan major to do research. We have different research that actually you can be history major. It can be an English major. It doesn't matter. There's a lot of different areas that you can explore and research. And as of right now, actually, tomorrow and the day after tomorrow is our undergraduate research conference this year, we.
We're going virtual as well, so everything is online. We're doing actually a conference online, so for undergrad research, unfortunately you cannot participate. You cannot watch it just yet because you have to be a student or staff to be able to get into the research conference. But just so you know, we do this every year and this is the first time that we did all we're doing it online. I'm super excited. I sign up to watch a few research presentation, so that's pretty cool. I would definitely encourage you to join a Listserv.
If you're interested in doing research, find Emma social media, schedule an appointment and talk about what you're interested in doing. Or you can go directly to your professors if you're interested in their research. I definitely encourage you to look at that.
Ardeshir Bozorgzadarbab
06:21:12 PM
San, how many minutes left for Q& A?
So Speaking of different communities, we have different areas that you different different resources that you can look at. I definitely encourage you to go check out the student Community Center that is the House of so many of our different programs and centers that you will be able to find it. So I definitely encourage you to check them out. One of the things I want to highlight is the Center for student involvement, which is we use acronyms a lot. Of course, CSI so they actually the House of out for 800 clubs and activities, so you can definitely check them out.
I will definitely encourage you to, you know, look at clubs and activities that you interested in. We also have different resources that you might be able to find useful. When I was a student, I also volunteered at the cross Cultural Center. I also want to be an intern for the student recruitment and retention center, so I would say I really try to fit everything in within that two years I found it too short. I wasn't able to do everything I want it within that two years and that's why I always encourage students.
When you get the opportunity before you even get in, start having a list of things that you want to do at our school because there's so many possibilities.
Mitsuko Leonard
06:22:18 PM
Hi Ardeshir, we'll be wrapping up with the presentation soon. your questions are super important and we'll also introduce other ways to interact with us and our current students
So on top of the list of communities are centrist that you can find it from the student Community Center. There are different places that you can go on campus to find your resources as well. I would say definitely use all our resources because they're all free. For students will take advantage of this.
And then what I wanted to talk about is also study abroad. I know I'm studying abroad. Doesn't sound like a good idea right now. No one is traveling well when it already assumed and all that I would definitely encourage you to take a look at that. I did study abroad.
Summer I think the summer in my third year and I did. A program is called the ladies over the Grand Tour. It was a program that takes you to Europe for four weeks and then you will be able to.
You will be able to definitely will be able to go to different places and you know meet other UC students and all that. I would definitely take encourage your ticket vantage of that and there also international internship opportunities as well.
And then the last resources I want to highlight his academic assistant and tutoring center. So I would definitely encourage you to check them out. They have ranges from tutoring program from biology to map to physics to writing. So if you need help, definitely take advantage of that. I went to a lot of the writing workshop because I wanted to make sure that all my writing and also the way formatting and all that I was, I wasn't really trained to write a college level.
Ardeshir Bozorgzadarbab
06:24:03 PM
THX Misuko
Essay with the format thing and everything, so I felt like I needed help on that so I definitely took advantage of the tutoring center. Or if you feel like you can help other people the ATC actually hired about 300 students employee every year to be tutors, so if you're interested in that and other things that I wanted to highlight, a sore student government ASU CD, they also hired about 1000 student employees every year for our coffee house for different programs. Different things on.
Campus so if you want to go check them out. It's well. Our student government is actually one of the most powerful soon government in the nation. They have a 14.5.
Chilean US dollar budget to for our students operations. The buses and things like that they all run by our students government. So definitely check them out. I know you have a lot of questions. I promise this is a few more slides and then we're going to get to the questions. Important dates on that line. Definitely. Like I said, You know, if you need a little more time than June 1st, let us know on your my emissions account. June 1st is all the data. Sign up. The deadline to sign up for orientation and then also Aggie 101 will be available starting in June 1st.
Housing that line is June 4th and then you have all the transcript and also test scored that lines. If for any reason you to campus closure or things like that you need an extension on your transcript or things like that. Again let us know when you're my emissions account will definitely work with you and follow up from there.
I know some of you may have questions about 8101 or online advising, so so orientation is 3 parts. The first is Aggie 101 is online and once you complete Aggie 101 starting in June 1st you'll be able to have access to advising which you can talk to your major advisor college advisors about picking classes and then you'll be picking classes once you're done with all the advising and then we plan to have the education which happens in September.
And again will give you posted on what's happening due to covet, but we're working on different plans and all that.
OK, so before I'm going to move on to questions, but here's some information if you wanted to stay connect it. You can scan this QR codes.
Fatima Hashmi
06:26:15 PM
Is there a shuttle that can help transport you around campus? As a student with a disability, navigating the large campus can be difficult
Alright, I am going to start with questions answering some questions.
Monica Ardon
06:26:46 PM
How do you find the balance between school and clubs, internships, etc?
Mitsuko Leonard
06:26:57 PM
Hi Fatima, we have an office dedicated to assisting students with disabilities https://sdc.ucdavis.edu/
I'm just trying to browse through 'cause there's a lot of you. Some of your asking if we're still doing orientation, we don't know, but we are working on different programming and things like that. If we do have an impersonating start in the fall, we would definitely help to have orientation. But at this point nobody knows. Then I think if I know the answer, if that's what we're doing in the fall, I definitely would be really rich. And you know, if I can tell the future right next question.
When is undergraduate research happening, this year is actually happening in May 7th and May 8th, so tomorrow.
Harleen Gill
06:27:24 PM
is housing first come first serve?
Mitsuko Leonard
06:27:35 PM
Fatima, transportation assistance is one of the services they provide
Charankamal Padda
06:27:38 PM
Is it possible to begin the Orientation before June 1?
And then the day after tomorrow, and like I said, it's online. So if you go to the undergraduate research website, which I have the link right on the slide, sorry, right here. So if you are see dot dot Edu you'll be able to find the undergrad undergraduate research conference. You'll be able to. You won't be able to register it. I think they had that that line today at noon for you to sign up to watch it. And like I said, you can only watch it if you are.
You see, Davis, current student and staff or faculty, but you can definitely check out info with half different. It had previous conference information in there as well.
How did I find balance between school and clubs and internship make cetera? So I like to play my day every week. I have a plan for the week what I'm doing and things like that. I think the first few weeks I do see gave us I was just overwhelmed by all the information. So I will try to go to every event I could like a borderline introvert extrovert. So I'd like to go to events but I don't like to stay too long. So I just like usually go do activities and things like that and just grab all the information and then I will go back to my residence.

Charakamal, the web based Aggie 101 won't be available until June 1 but there's tons of info on https://www.ucdavis.edu/admissions/undergraduate/events/aggie-experience-transfer
And I actually read them through and then this site, which activities I want to go to and things like that. I committed to them I would say also on the weekend. I have a day that's for like doing like, schoolwork, anything that has to do with like jobs, internship, thanks. And then one day for fun. So slash laundry as well. So that's kind of how I plan my week. But during the week I would say being a student is a full time job and then I would say part time job.
Mitsuko Leonard
06:29:25 PM
Team, this webinar will be available to you as a recording
About 10 to 12 hours a week sounds good. I think anything more than 15 hours is a lot because people say every hour that you spending classes every hour that you were supposed to study outside of classroom. So I spend a lot of time in the library as well. We also have a 24 hour study room, so so I definitely spent a lot of time there as well. But I would say definitely plan your day plan your week. Also, think about what you want to do. So for example, if you like me, you want to look for.
Angelo Alcantara
06:29:31 PM
Will a recording of this meeting be available?
Jeffress right? Definitely check out the ICC and then I was trying to look for a different volunteering opportunities, so I went to the Center for senior student involvement and then I went to we have a fall welcome that has a lot of different clubs resources that will come out and meet or students. So that's how I kind of got my resources and then sort them out.
Mitsuko Leonard
06:29:55 PM
come back to the same site you used to sign up and you'll see all of our webinars from past weeks as well as be able to sign up for some of the future ones
Maureen Jane Caling
06:30:08 PM
Can we send our official transcripts online?
I'm housing so housing for so when I was a student at UC Davis, housing wasn't actually guaranteed for transfers yet. So you guys are very lucky. We try to guarantee for everyone. But again, with this fall we don't know what's going to happen, so we're trying to make sure that everyone who plays but housing is working on how to do it with the logistic and things like that. But in theory are transfer housing is guaranteed and usually.
Zunaira Ahmad
06:30:30 PM
Hi! can we set appointments with counselors before submitting the SIR?
Mitsuko Leonard
06:30:34 PM
Maureen, yes, we are working with Parchment to accept electronic transcripts
Mitsuko Leonard
06:30:46 PM
you'll find that info on MyAdmissions as well
You can pick, you know if you want to stay at the. I think most of them would be apartment style. When I was there I mentioned that I said the resident Hall as because I would. So when I got admitted to UC Davis I was like I want to live on campus because I want to get the full college experience right. So I keep telling housing I would just take any spot that you have available and then at the end I was placed it at the one of the communities which is the engineering.
Loveth Aleburu
06:30:57 PM
Does UC Davis accept electronic transcripts?
Residence Hall I wasn't an engineer. I was a communication major so but I really wanted a spot to stay on campus and I told him I really want to stay on campus and then at the end they were able to find me a spot to live on campus. I would say if you have the opportunity, definitely stay on campus.
And definitely make the most out of it because I like to be able to, you know, go back to my room during the day and you know, just kind of organize my day like that. So I would definitely encourage you live on campus if you could.
Mitsuko Leonard
06:31:26 PM
Loveth, yup, we're using Parchment and they are pulling transcripts from many other providers as well
Erika Pina Vasquez
06:31:33 PM
'How can I apply for EOP?
Um, let's see can we set appointment with counselor before something counselors before submitting Sir? So I would say because our counselors in that buys those are serving our current students as well. So I want to say that you can try reaching out to them, but I'm not sure if they are would be available. and I know some of the colleges are doing like online advising, so I would say go to your college page and see what is available for perspective students.
We also have a lot of resources that are going to be for you to chat with advisors. So for example, let's see. I'm going to show you the slide. There's a few options, so there's a transfer Aggie chat you will be able to speak to.
Kimmy Grulla
06:32:20 PM
If we deffer enrollment to until spring- will there be another orientation for us? Or is it only in fall?
Antonia Fabian
06:32:33 PM
Im nervous about leaving my home due to the pandemic, i have already sent my SIR, but i want to know when is the last day to cancel the SIR in case i decide to stay close to home.
Small group of students. So we limited to five students and you will be able to talk to a current Aggie current student on that. Or if you prefer to call us, there is also talk to me Tuesday every Tuesday from noon to four there's a phone number. You Press 6 and then you will be connected to one of our current students. They will be able to talk to you about anything everything you see Davis is about and so the Togami Tuesday is a one on one with the current students and then transfer. Aggie chat would be a small group with limiting 25.
Sarah Carrasco
06:32:58 PM
is the campus able to be walked around instead of biking everyday?
Five students at the time and then you will be able to talk. You'll be able to go to Aggie experience. We have a lot of resources, thank financial aid, an internship and Career Center is up next. So definitely go to outside. Financial aid was last week, I think internship Career Center is up so you will be able to check out that QR code and see all the resources information in there. You're able to talk to different people about, you know, ask your questions and things like that.
Erika Pina Vasquez
06:33:14 PM
How can I apply for UC/DC?

06:33:28 PM
Erika, check out the EOP Center's site https://opportunity.ucdavis.edu/programs/eop?utm_source=eop&utm_medium=redirect-hostname
Richard Ge
06:33:37 PM
Is there a student newsletter, calendar, or something where we can see what events are going on (eg. job fairs)?
So the next question is if we defer enrollment until spring, will there be another orientation for us, or only in the fall? So if you are deferring, definitely you have to let orientation now. Well, I mean if you tell us that your differing than the programming and all that, I am not sure about orientation. Let's see if you are different because when you defer you can differ up to one year. So we can you know you can decide to defer for 1/4.
Or two quarters. Or if you want to start next fall. I would say you would definitely. You can. Definitely you can probably go through the menu 101 and the online advising. I'm not sure Dolly Amisco do you know the answer for?
He can student participate in.
And you want to won an online advising if their differing.
Mitsuko Leonard
06:34:19 PM
Aggie 101 can happen as soon as you SIR and June 1
Mitsuko Leonard
06:34:25 PM
if you defer, you can still participate
Will get back to you on that. Um, and then the next question is due to the pandemic. I am worried about nervous about leaving home already submitted my Sr but I want to know what this last day cancel S are in case you want to stay closer to home. So going back to deferral you can actually defer up to the day when school start so you can decide if you want to defer.
Spencer Shin
06:34:36 PM
If I get a job or internship, what is the minimum amount of hours I have to work?
Mitsuko Leonard
06:34:39 PM
but you're likely going to want to do orientation again
The day off we starting school so you can decide later if you really don't want to leave home or you don't feel comfortable leave home or if you want to stay with your family for awhile, you can try defer enrollment. Or if you want to cancel your Sir.
The thing is, you can cancel it as our anytime, but I would say if you are just worried.
Because it thinks might get better than you can. Actually, you know, enroll later on for next term or next year, so you can kind of have that option as well.
Mitsuko Leonard
06:35:14 PM
Erika, UC in DC is so cool! https://www.ucdc.edu/uc-washington-center-home
Maria Lolas Ojeda
06:35:30 PM
Where can I find a full list of classes that are needed in order to get my Bachelors's degree??
Is the campus able to walk around instead of biking everyday? Yes, you can definitely walk around. I would say so when you are thinking of walk around because we're a big campus, right? So, but for most of our classes, they're also in one area, so you'll be able to one big area, so you'll be able to walk around. Some classes could be in the further part of our campus. You can definitely walk there. Definitely walkable. You can take the bus, you can buy it fully up to you.

06:35:44 PM
Do you know how soon UC Davis will come to a decision as to whether school will be on line or in-person? I need to know ASAP if I should look for apartments or not as I know apartments get rented out fairly quickly.

06:35:57 PM
Do you know how soon UC Davis will come to a decision as to whether school will be on line or in-person? I need to know ASAP if I should look for apartments or not as I know apartments get rented out fairly quickly.
So if you like me to sing at the 101 happen as soon as USR and after June 1st, and then if you defer you can still persist participate.
Let's see the next question. Do you know how soon you give us will come to a decision whether not will be online or in person.
Mitsuko Leonard
06:36:12 PM
Richard, start with the Aggie Experience Live for Transfer students. there's a lot of stuff for incoming transfers. then for job fairs and things, you'll want to visit icc.ucdavis.edu f
Sarah Carrasco
06:36:27 PM
You said you majored in Communication, that is also my major? How was the Communication program at UC Davis? Are there a lot of opportunities for comm majors?
You need to know as soon as possible you look for apartments. I'm so sorry we don't have the information available yet. We're working well because Davis is 1/4 system so our school don't start until the end of September. An orientation usually start at few days before that. So as of now is is may so we don't really know what's going to happen. Our chancellor actually provide a weekly update on covet relating information to us every week, but we don't have the most updated.
We don't have any information on whether or not fall will be online or in person.
Mitsuko Leonard
06:36:55 PM
Spencer, each job/internship will be unique but generally we encourage students to work no more than 20 hours a week
Maria Lolas Ojeda
06:36:57 PM
Where can I find a full list of classes that are needed in order to get my Bachelors's degree while my time at davis?
Ki know you will you need to look for apartments and things like that, but we were trying pop up in the summer. We will have some information but we're working on it.
Laura Hafer
06:37:32 PM
DOES THE SCHOOL HAVE A DEADLINE FOR THE DATE WHEN THEY WILL DECIDE ON CAMPUS OR NOT?
Someone asked about my major how was majored in communication and how was the Commission program at UC Davis that there are a lot of opportunities for car majors, so I know a lot of people might have changed majors throughout the years. But I was communication all the way since I wanted the answer. So I actually when I went to Davis I was really excited because we have the school newspaper. We have the radio station with the television station, so there's a lot of opportunity. If people students are interested in like media communication.
Mitsuko Leonard
06:38:01 PM
Maria, one place to look is the general catalog https://ucdavis.pubs.curricunet.com/Catalog
I was inspired to be a population specialist when I was or crisis management or in crisis management. I should have gone into that. Looking at the pandemic right now. But anyway, but I would say communication was really great for Davis. I'm I really liked it. I like some of her professors that were I really like the organizational communication part, so we have a lot of that. If you like that. I was also a leadership minor leadership, contemporary leadership and UC Davis is actually the only using campus that has a leadership minor.
Kimmy Grulla
06:38:26 PM
What is it like to take up an internship?
And we have a Center for leadership learning. So if you're interested in leadership, I definitely encourage you to check that out. So I really like our communication classes. Most of 'em I didn't like. I'm not a math person, so I didn't like some of the research classes in communication. There's the really fun. I just it just took me along time to figure it out. Because involve math an I wasn't really good. I'm I'm still not really good at math, but that's OK, so I would say overall communication Department is pretty good and the major advisor was really helpful.
So all of you, you would have a major advisor and a lot of them do send out like regular emails to all the students in the major. To update them on internship or job or different opportunities for volunteering opportunities within the major like relating to our major. So definitely I would say, you know.
Mitsuko Leonard
06:38:57 PM
but keep in mind Maria that it can be overwhelming looking at that thing so you'll want to chat with your advisor after Aggie 101
You know the communication major advisor was able to help me with that.
Leila Jadoon
06:39:24 PM
What resources will the school provide for students looking for part-time jobs/work-study if school continues online in the Fall?
Does the school have a deadline for the date that would decide on campus or not I know you all have a lot of that questions. We don't know. We don't have a deadline for that. Hopefully I like. I said, I hope that we will be able to, you know, share that in the summer. I'm so sorry we don't have more information on that.
Maria Lolas Ojeda
06:39:33 PM
great thank you!
What is it like to take up an intention behind? So I would say so. I actually volunteered at the cross Cultural Center and got an internship at the student recommendations in center, so I was able to help with a lot of event planning's and all that with SRC. I would say different internship would have different purpose. So when you sign up for the internship would tell you what is it like? What is dictation? Some internship up Aidan, someone unpaid. So it depends on what you're looking for. I would say.
Ardeshir Bozorgzadarbab
06:40:15 PM
Irepeat my question pls respond, give me information about summer quarter. psychology magor, transfer from ccsf
Definitely take advantage off doing in future or part time job because I want to say that that other than the academic excellence at UC Davis, I would say having able to participate in a part time job internships. I think definitely help me to gain a lot of different experience and also seeing things from different sites. I definitely enjoy that.
Maria Lolas Ojeda
06:40:34 PM
Mitusko: I meant to ask, if there's a way for me to see which classes I'll need for my specific major prior i do my SIR.
Mitsuko Leonard
06:40:42 PM
Leila, you can check out ICC's site, including that HandShake thing that San mentioned. https://icc.ucdavis.edu/find/part-time/find
And I also want to say like I said, You know, within the majors advisors they would be able to tell you different type of internships and the internship in Korea center have different type of internship and I start going to the instrument career fair. The first quarter I got to easy gave us. I know it was like we did a lot of things in your first quarter and just start slowing down later on. But I go to every fares, every intention, career fairs and the first few ones I actually did not end up talking to.
Mitsuko Leonard
06:41:08 PM
Maria, yup, you'll want to look it up in the catalog...what's your major?
Anna Beatrice Ricasata
06:41:12 PM
for transfers, is it common to run out of available classes for their upper division courses? basically, are classes smaller and limited for upper division courses?
Anyone from you know the employers or recruiters and things like that. I was just there to watch how people were interacting because I didn't know what to expect. So I start going to those fares and I attend some workshops to help me. I have some work experience. Before that I used to work at the DNC library and then I have other part time jobs, but I want to say the intern Career Center really helped me to build up my resume and also I also went to a few of the interview workshop.
How to you know how to do an interview and things like that? That definitely helped me.
Dana Gillis
06:41:41 PM
Do you send your official transcript through your community college, or by yourself?
Where can I get information about summer quarter psychology major transfer from CC SF? So let's see so summer quarter. If you want to sign up for summer order, you can go to summer sessions. I think this summer sessions that you see if its.edu kodalu. Can one of you chime in on that? I think that's the website for summer session. If you want to start once you Sr and everything you can actually reach out to summer session. And if you want to.
Maria Lolas Ojeda
06:42:03 PM
I see, my major is clinical nutrition!
Mitsuko Leonard
06:42:10 PM
Maria - https://ucdavis.pubs.curricunet.com/Catalog/clinical-nutrition
Register for summer classes like ice at our summer is online, so you definitely would need to, you know, make sure that your paper for online. I know a lot of you are 'cause we're doing zoom right now. We have a lot of. I'm sorry we do. We do chat right now and a lot of soon classes and things going on and psychology major. So psychology is actually one of the biggest major within the College of letters and science. About 9% of our undergraduate students are psychology majors, so if you're interested in that.
Rylee Williams
06:42:37 PM
Hi! Since some schools are transitioning to pass/no pass grading for this quarter, will this impact our admission if we take our spring 2020 courses pass/ no pass?
Psychology you can also pick batch of artificial science depends on the path that you're looking for is one of the most popular major at Davis. I know a lot of people from psych major. I also took a few classes in psychology. Like I say, is a really, really popular major within you see gave us so it's a good choice.
Mitsuko Leonard
06:42:48 PM
Team, Summer Session is on line...check out the classes here https://summer-sessions.ucdavis.edu/
Safah Bhatti
06:43:20 PM
do you need an official transcript from our highschool even though it's aborad? Is it ok if we send an offical transcript?
And then for transfer, is it common to run out of available classes for upper division courses? Basically a class is smaller limited for Upper Division, yes, so so for transfers, since you already transfer your credits, so you in Apple Kosman standing, so you will have priority registration for classes. The more more units you have, the earlier you can register for classes, because especially for juniors and seniors, the seniors get the first step and then junior second then.
Mitsuko Leonard
06:43:22 PM
Rylee, no, we are being very flexible with P/NP since this is out of your control entirely
Noah Skinner
06:43:28 PM
What sorts of research/internship/career activities are available for Sociology?
You know, so, uh, so definitely. I would say the more unit to have the early you can register for classes, the better chance you can get into the classes. I don't, I didn't have any much issues in registering for classes because when the class catalog comes out I would have it in front of me. Well, back in the day, sis all paper. So I have in front of me and then we'll come up different plans and all that and I like to apply my week like Monday through Thursday. I have classes and then Friday I will be working like I work a little bit throughout the week but we working mostly Fridays.
So I would say I was able to come.
Mitsuko Leonard
06:44:09 PM
Safah, we ask for your HS transcript but nothing bad happens if we don't get it. first and foremost we want your college transcripts so you'll want to focus your energies there
I was able to kinda plan my class like that and so I think and junior I might have difficulty getting into one or two classes throughout the year, but when I was a senior it was no problem because you get the priority to register for classes.
So and then my trick is also to get all the number ready for registering classes, and I'm sure it's the same for you at your Community College that when you register classes you just have a list of classes that you want to register it and you just punch it all in and try to get in. And also some most of the I want to say Upper Division classes is.
Leon Lambruschini
06:44:38 PM
Do you have to apply for priority registration? I'm in the air force reserves and heard there is priority for military members.
It's also we give power a teacher. Students who are already in the Manger so you get not only because your junior or senior. You get priority if you're in the major you also get priority or registration for classes.
Let's see, Oh yes, and it costs are definitely smaller. Depends on your major. Some class I want to say for for my classes. When I was Davis I want to say the smallest class I was that was my writing class.
Isiah Thomas Cua
06:45:12 PM
how do i submit my electronic college transcripts?
That only a 20 plus students and I left my writing class professors was awesome and it was a journalism focus writing Class. I really liked it.
Mitsuko Leonard
06:45:19 PM
Leon, the priority is based on your level...so the Seniors get the highest priority and then the Juniors (that's you!)
And then yes, upper class upper division classes will be smaller. Class size depends on the major and then I think I took some upper division psychology class which has about 7080 people. But my communication classes about. I want to say 4050 people Max.
Mitsuko Leonard
06:45:52 PM
Isiah, you'll be working with your college to arrange for your electronic transcript to be sent to us.
What sort of research internship theory activities are available for sociology? So we have a lot of different programs for students. So it depends on what you're looking for. But if you want specific major specific general speaking like I said, your major advisor will be able to tell you what kind of opportunities available there.
Aida Pourya
06:45:59 PM
Could you please explain how I can get in campus family housing?
I said we have so many different resources, so definitely encouraged to go check them out and then for our intention career centered. They also have some of the internships and jobs that are kind of in cat different category, so I definitely will encourage to browse through that.
Um, how did I apply for a minor as a transfer student so I I didn't think about a minor until I got into UC Davis because I was so focused on trying to get into, you know, a four year University when I was looking, I didn't really think about the minor until I got to Davis and then I just start taking classes and all that and I just came across this leadership class and I really liked it. I think it really helped me to learn a lot about my personality and also.
Josemanuel Ortiz
06:47:00 PM
is there a type of club rush in Fall quarter where we can learn more about clubs and organizations?
Mitsuko Leonard
06:47:03 PM
Aida, we have family housing at Solano Park (i lived there!) and you can apply for that through our housing office. https://housing.ucdavis.edu/family-housing/
My leadership style. My leadership, you know, way off lead and all that. So I really like that and I just started looking at because we have so many miners there is available so I just start I think I would encourage you if you interested in certain minor you can take a couple classes in those in the minor and see if you really liked it and then you'll be able to submit a petition to declare minor before you graduate.
Sarah Carrasco
06:47:24 PM
is on campus housing fees subjected to be refunded if classes go online for the fall semester?
So I just start taking classes and go through and go to my advisor and tell them this is what to do. So I actually was a communication major, right? It's in the College of letters and science and my minor contemporary leadership is actually in the College of Agriculture, Environmental Science, and I was able to pick up a minor in a different colleges perfectly fine until one to my advisor at.
Roselena Mejia-Campos
06:47:38 PM
Would you recommend having a major and a minor? What are some benefits to minoring in a subject? I don't know too much about how that works.
College of letters and science major visor and I go to the College Advisors calling for Mac and tell them like I want to do a leadership minor and they just tell me if it take this class. This stuff in this class. And then I did it and I signed a petition and then there it is.
Um, is there a type of clubs rush in fall quarters? What can we learn more about cluster organization? Yes, so four quarters we before the school officially start, we have huge event. It lasted a few days is called for welcome and all the clubs and different resources from campus. Bodrul tabling at the quad to meet students and all that. So I think I might have a picture.
Bita Rostami
06:48:34 PM
If we want to sign up for Tranfer Edge, does the dates interfere with that of Orientation?
So here this picture. So on the bottom right hand side you'll see is one of the picture from one of our fall welcome. So different different students would. I'm sorry different clubs will come out and you know just meet students, talk about their activities and things like that. So I definitely encourage you to participate in that. If you get a chance to.
Mitsuko Leonard
06:48:39 PM
Sarah, yup, in the age of Covid 19, everyone is being very flexible with applications and deposits. the Housing application fee is actually a deposit of 450 and if you change your mind or we go online, you'll be refunded
And then I think every quarter we also have, you know activities. I think I think it's called activities and clubs. I can't remember the exact name of the events, but I think every beginning of every quarter we will have similar events that have different clubs and all that showcasing different activities.
Would I recommend to have a major Ana minor? What have the benefits to minor in a subject so I would say definitely.
The reason why I wanted a miner, well it was kinda funny because everyone we're talking about it. So I was and then I start realizing. Well, I don't have a minor so let me just go check it out. So I would say it definitely helped me personally because having a leadership minor. Actually when I went through job interviews once I graduated, a lot of people ask about it. Every single job interview that I've been to had asked about tell me more about your leadership minor, so I think it was a really good talking point.
Aman Aujla
06:49:45 PM
Is it possible to change our major at this point, being juniors, and if so, how difficult is it?
Mitsuko Leonard
06:49:50 PM
Bita, no, orientation is online via Aggie 101 and then an appt with an advisor. in person Orientation will happen the week before classes begin in September. Transfer Edge is part of the summer session and so you'll be taking classes during one of the 6 week sessions
For me, but I mean in terms of the learning. I really like it because it was a lot of small groups and also seminar style classes. I really enjoyed it. So I would say definitely if you have multiple interests or if you were supposed to be a certain major. If you change your mind and things like that. If you want to make it a minor and things like that. The key is to talk to an advisor as a transfer student. You have more limited time. If you still want to change your mind and things like that by picking up a minor, it's just any additional right and also some of the classes that I took for my communication major.
Madeline Lemieux
06:50:17 PM
Is there a webinar or more info for families transferring? like single parents, etc. where we can ask questions?
Actually fulfilled are prerequisites or the requirements for having the addition minor, so I was able to overlap a class or two. So to kind of minimize like my time in my class and all that when I was doing that.
So and also it will when you have a minor or if you have double major or minor and things like that it will all be print it in your graduation diploma. So smite us measured in communication by for arts communication and then minor in contemporary leadership. So that's pretty cool.
Ryan Rogers
06:51:06 PM
dose your minor have to be within the college you're enrolled in?
Is it possible to change your major at this point being juniors? If so, how difficult it is? It depends on the major you would have to talk to advisors about it. Once you get to campus, because a lot of the majors like when you apply to transfer, you know that allow the majors do have prerequisites classes that you have to take. It depends on. I would say it depends on the major talk to advisor is the best back. So once you complete AG 101 when you meet with, you know.
Farhad Habib
06:51:29 PM
I am a prospective dental student. Would there be any dental clubs in the campus? What would be an ideal time to get ready for transitioning into the graduate school (Dental/Medical)?
Mitsuko Leonard
06:51:31 PM
Madeline, we don't currently have a webinar but I think we could get one going! i bet you'd be interested in meeting other students with families too...we'll try to get that going...keep an eye out for it
You're online advising you can ask about that if you want to switch to major to a similar and things like that depends on if you have the prerequisites classes. If you don't, you might still have to take a few classes in order to be able to fulfill the requirements. So again, it depends on the major and also depends on you know your units and things like that. Because we have a minimum unit to graduate, which is 180, and then we also have a maximum units you can graduate which is 22125 quarter units, so you kind of have to go within that.
So does your minor have to be within the college you enrolled in? No, you can minor in any minor you want. I want to say that we have a good right range of minor that is available. So if if you can find the link to show them where they can take a look at the miners that be great.
Charankamal Padda
06:52:13 PM
Is there any MCAT or Med School prep organization on campus?
OK, so yeah, so you can pick up a minor within or outside of your college is perfectly fine.
Katie Anoskey
06:52:48 PM
What is transfer edge?
And I have seen transfer student was able to do different like to minors. I've seen people done that too, but I would say definitely have to go to advisors planet really well. 01 other resources that I didn't get to mention is to transfer on reentry center. It's a sensor for transmission and reentry students, so I definitely encourage you check it out.

for anyone interested in doing a double major what are the steps do you recommend?
Thank you miss. Go for the minor link as well, so check those out. I would definitely encourage you to take advantage of the How Professional Advising Center they have office hours. They also have book aims for both or medical program pre Med students and also if you're prevent students you can definitely check them out and take advantage of that workshops.
So a student saying there theater and dance major and students, the question is OK.

Katie, Transfer Edge is basically summer session courses plus some programming to help you transition to uc davis. https://summer-sessions.ucdavis.edu/transfer-edge
OK, so our Theatre and dance program is relatively smaller. We have a Performing Arts Center on our campus. We also have a theater on our campus, so if you're interested in Fusion dance, we definitely have support and resources for the major. Like I said, the majors relatively smaller.
Think they are? If you go on our major website the major websites, sorry, link for majors, you'll be able to find more information on that and I think they also either have a Facebook and Instagram account. I can't remember which, so I definitely encourage you check them out.

is the gym at the arc free for all students or is there a membership we have to get?
For anyone who are interested in doing a double major, what are the steps that I would recommend I would recommend as soon as you got to campus, go to talk to the advisors from.

Ryan, we have a lot of help for students who want to go on to professional schools, masters or phd's. GRE, LSAT, all of them!
Make sure you're interested in as your second major and try to see if you can fit that in. If you have enough units that are overlap with your current major who might be able to fit it in.
Again, you will have to work with your college major advisors to figure that out.
Is the Ark for free for all students? Is their membership that you have to get it free so we like to tell you things are free but it's all included in the tuition and you already paid for it. So I encourage you take advantage of it with your student ID. It gets you into places. For example, the Ark, the activities and Recreation Center. You can use the facilities for free, but if you want to take classes, you might be able to sign up for classes or pay for classes and things like that. But definitely I would say take advantage of the arc and also like I said, the bus system is free for everyone, so have version ID.
I take you everywhere and Davis.
