At UC Davis, as you guys will have already known, UC Davis is a top five, a public school in the United States. So we are a research University. We are part of the University of California and basically all the euses or all the UC campuses are California's Public Research University. All of us are unique in our own individual ways. We are most of us are highly ranked an you UC Davis. We are proud that we are within the top five public school in the United States.

At UC Davis, uh, you have the opportunity to do all sorts of things. Lots of hands-on opportunity. We are well known for our agriculture and Environmental Science Field. We are number one in the world for veterinarian science. We have professor that are one of our professor is a former astronaut that also teaches in our aerospace engineering Department. We are located.
And the city of Davis, which is a college town's setting. So half of the residents in the city of Davis are made up of college students.
Where are we located? So as you can see we are located in Northern California. We are the furthest campus up North of all the euses campuses. Relocator right next to Sacramento, Sacramento is about 20 miles to the east of us. San Francisco is about.
I would say 80 miles to the West of us and then you see Berkeley is the next closest sister campus to us which is about 60 miles to the West of us. So UC Davis is located in the city of Davis. We are located in the area that's very good if you like to explore Napa Valley, which is where wine countries at 45 minutes away. Lake Tahoe is 2 hours away. I love Lake Tahoe when I I myself, uh, uh is a graduate of UC Davis, so I'm a proud of love night.
Love you see Davis, and during my time there every winter me and my friends will be, uh, go up to Lake Tahoe to snowboard so if you're into snow I see some some students commenting from Canada. If you love snow, snow is only two hours away in Lake Tahoe.
Semite National Park is 3 hours away. Los Angeles is 6 hours away and San Francisco Bay areas while hour and a half away. So we're located in Northern California in a small college town.
So as you can see, the Davis community are the great thing about UC Davis is that everything about the city of Davis revolves around the University and its students. So as you can see from this map here, you are campus. The campus is bigger than downtown Davis. OK, so you see Davis, our campus is actually the largest campus in the UC system. Our campus stretches over 5000 acres. So as you can see from this map, a couple blocks away.
And you're in downtown Davis an A lot of students you know during their breaks will go into downtown Davis. There's lots of family run shops, lots of Bubba and T shop, lots of restaurants. So you if you don't want to eat on campus, you always have the opportunity walk 10 minutes off campus. You're in downtown Davis, so downtown Davis is different. But remember we are a college town so we're not a big city like Vancouver or Toronto or San Francisco.
Or Los Angeles. So you're not going to see any skyscraper or any tall buildings or anything like that. It's really a small downtown. Small, it's more like a small town feel. So similar to I see somebody hear from Victoria, Canada similar to Victoria, Canada. So that's what Davis is like. So even though you're going to a small city, that doesn't mean our campus is small at all. I got mentioned where the largest campus in the UC system.
An we have over 31,000 undergraduate students, so that makes us a Division One school and that makes us a really big school, so you might be thinking there might. There might not be a lot of things to do because it's a small town. No, there's lots of things for our students to do. As you can see from these. Some of these photos here, student loves to hang out in the different variety of coffee shops in downtown, to study or to grab a coffee break.
The picture towards the bottom there shows Central Park. We have one of the best farmers farmers market in the state. So everyone's Day there's a farmer farmers market out there. It will give access to our students to have the opportunity to buy fresh fruits and vegetable an it's a very bike friendly talent. As you can see some of the photos around UC Davis. We are known for bikes so we are basically.
Biting capital of the world on a typical day you will see over 20,000 bytes on campus. Are canvas is large enough and is very large that it's easier to get around campus on a bike. OK, if you have classes across campus from one end to the other end might take you 30 to 40 minutes to walk to get from one end to the other. So a faster route is the hop on a bike. So on a typical day you will see around 20,000 bikes on campus.
And also we have the unit ran. These are these red buses. They are the unit Tran bus system is Davis is public transportation. It's owned and operated by UC Davis college. Students are actually the bus driver, so we actually train students to drive these buses. And the great thing about our public transportation is that UC Davis campus is the hub for all the bus line. So all the bus lines that runs throughout the campus. They go to grocery store. They go to Department store. They go to.
Lots of student apartments complexes. They all come back to campus, so it's very easy to get around the city of Davis to get off campus on campus by utilizing the unit Tran bus system. 1. Interesting thing was that I myself was the former unit Tran bus drivers, so it's still one of the highest paying student job on campus. So if you love to drive, it's a great student job. There are very flexible, they work with in between your school schedule.
You can wait in between your break between classes. You can hop on your bus. Driver routes come back to class, party bus and walk to walk to your a lecture or your discussion or your lab. So that's one of the unique thing about UC Davis. Like I mentioned, everything about the city walls around the campus and its students in. As you can see, the students are the ones that's driving the public transportation around the city of Davis.
Housing so at UC Davis. We do offer on campus housing right now. We guarantee on campus housing for two years.
Campus housing or the dormitory there? Not a. It's not a mandatory, so their optional. Most of our students do live at least one year in the dorms, and if you want to live in a dorm storing your sophomore year, you are more than welcome to do that. But majority of our students do move off campus after their freshman year. The reason why is because Davis had been a college town has lots and lots of.
Apartment complexes throughout the city of Davis in as I mentioned earlier, every major apartment complex have a bus stop right outside of it and living off campus.
Actually, uh, the cost of living is a little bit more affordable if you split your apartments. Uh, with multiple roommates and less rules and regulation. So the patterns that we see is that most of our students do move off campus after their freshman year. But if you want to stay on campus, you definitely have the opportunity to live on campus for a minimum of two years. In addition to that, we had three different housing residential halls on campus. We have the Tessaro. Those are.
Uh, some of the newest dormitory on campus and then we have some gundo and then we have a off campus dormitory or residential Hall called quarto, and that the off campus one is about a 10 minute bike ride off-campus, so it's not that far. So you have different areas that you can choose once use decided, hey, I'm going to UC Davis. You will have five days to submit your housing application. We do allow.
Roommate requests, so if you know somebody that's coming to UC Davis and you want to live with that person, you guys can request to room together as long as all your information on the housing application links up and match up In addition to the residential halls, we also have theme residential floors, so if you're interested in learning about different cultures, there's the Latino Latina experience floor. There's the Asian American, explains Florida is.
An engineering team floor. There's a all girls floor, so there's 17 different housing theme floor that you can choose from with our housing residential forms. Where do you eat? So if you choose to live on campus or if you choose to live off campus, you can still purchase a dining Mail plan. We have three different dining meal plan of dining comment that you can eat for. Actually, we have four another one just.
Open up by our veterinarian school so we have four different uhm dining Commons that you can eat from on campus. One of the great thing about UC Davis dining common is that all the food that we use are grown by local farmers or by the University. So we are basically next Sacramento. Sacramento is known for its formative farm before table region, so.
A lot of our food that we use are actually grown on our campus or from a local farmers around the Davis surrounding. So that's one of the great things about our dining common in our chef. Well, based on your dietary restriction or dietary need, they will cater your Mail plan or a meal plan that will cater to your needs. So that's something that a lot of students really appreciated. How are diamond comment also?
What to do for fun time for a study break right? We have a beautiful right pull that just opened so when I was a student at UC Davis we had we had this right pool but it wasn't this nice so this right pool just opened about a year ago. Will reopen about a year ago. It's basically like a resort style pool. Your tuition covers your access to it, so you could definitely utilize it. We also have over 800 student clubs and organizations on campus.
So our campus is very big and with that said we have lots of activities clubs organization for students to join funk. So you if you're interested in a particular academic bass club, we will have those available for you. We have our Greek life, so the sorority and fraternity's we have cultural based interest club. We have Sports Club anything that you can think of. There's going to be some sort of clubs that will cater to your interest. We also have.
A game arcade game area for students in our Memorial Union. If you want, I want to take a break from studying, you can go bowling with your friends. You can go play video games. You can go play pool with your friends to this all sorts of things to do on our campus for our students.
And we also have different communities are centric throughout a campus. We have a tutoring Center for students. We have a undergraduate Research Center for students, so as I mentioned earlier, we are California's Public Research University. If you want to do research, you have the opportunity to do research on our campus. We have the different.
Uh, ethnic based Community Center. So we have the African Diaspora Student Success Center. We have the AB 540 undocumented students in it. We have the Middle Eastern, North African and South Asian Student Resource Center, so we have all sorts of center all sorts of communities for our students on our campus.
Health and safety is also a very big God. Part of our campus as well, and you know, especially right now, where the world is going through really tough, difficult times with disco VAT 19 pandemic. You know it's our students health and safety is definitely number one priority. We have a student health and Wellness Center on campus. We also have safe arrive services. So for example if you are studying late at night in the library.
Or we have a really late class and you don't feel comfortable walking back to your dormitory, or you don't wanna feel comfortable? Uhm, yeah, going back to your bus stop or going off campus view apartment. All you have to do. There's an app called safe right? All you have to do is just request a ride from safe flight and they will meet up with you outside your agreed upon location, whether it be outside your lecture Hall, your classroom, the library.
And they will escort you back to your dorms, your apartment, or to the bus stop. So that's a very unique service staff we offer to our students in for safety, and then, as I mentioned, Health Wise, we also have lots of recreational stuff for our students. We have a state of the art recreational facility called the art activity and recreational center, so it has like indoor basketball court, indoor soccer court, indoor track, racquetball rooms. It has a weight room, a cardio room.
Dance studio so it has all sorts of recreational activities for our students to participate in. We also have intermural sports, so if you're really into sports, you want to compete with other UC Davis students. You can sign based on the sports that you actually sit in, whether it be soccer, flag football, basketball, volleyball, tennis, dodgeball, whatever you're interested in, you can form your own team and you can sign up and you can play in these Intermural Sports. Lee Ann play against other UC Davis students.
So as I mentioned, you know UC Davis is not all about academics. You know we were a Division One school. We know how to have fun. We have one of the largest student spirited organization in the United States. It's called our Aggie packed, so the Aggie Pack. They go out to every home sporting events in one of the great thing about UC Davis is that we are one of the very few Division One school that will offer any of our home sporting events.
Free two students. So what if you want to watch a basketball game of football game? My soccer game at gymnastic meet volleyball game. All you have to do is go to the ticket box office and show them your UC Davis ID and you will get free admission to any home sporting events. As I mentioned now we're very big on research. 70% of our student graduate conducting research as well. So come into UC Davis. You get the best of both worlds. You go one of the best education in the world.
And you also get to experience a very big Division One school, but located in a small college town. So you get that big University life that excellent academics with the Division One atmosphere. So that's something that a lot of our students really enjoy.

In terms of academic wise, so can I see one major, uh, did you get a minute into? If you can tell me what your major in the chat box, that would be great because we have over 100 majors, that is house in four different colleges, so we have the College of letters and science, which is one of our biggest college. We have the college that Adnan Environmental Science. That's the college that I graduated from. And then we also have the College of biological science and we have the College of.

Nearing, so I see a lot of so OK, Urban Forestry, biological science, chemistry, political science or political science. I forgot to mention so with UC Davis being right next to Sacramento or Sacramento, it's actually our state, capital of California. We have AUC Sacramento center, so for a lot of our political science students you will have the opportunity to go to UC Sacramento Center at the state capital and take courses there.
Yeah, that's being taught by UC professors, so you get really hands-on experience in the political science field. So that's one of the great aspect for a lot of our political science students is that we have that center that's only 20 minutes away for them to gain hands on experience and get a really good education through the UC sacramental center.
And I see a lot of biological science major, so within the College of biological science we also have a what's called the pre health advising center. So that's basically that center is basically for any students who are interested in going into professional medical school, pharmacy, school, dental school, nursing school, optometry, school, anything that has to do with the health field. That center is dedicated to that population and they will work with you to ensure that you are taking the right classes.
Yeah, to go onto a those professional programs or school they put on different workshops throughout your time at UC Davis on like study skills, how to study for the, uh, the M cat exam that peek at exam for pharmacy or a medical school.
I statistics from two years ago was that over 90% of our graduating class will apply to medical school. Got into their number one choice school, so we prepare our students very well for that.
As I mentioned, lots of hands-on learning you know at UC Davis, your classroom are your classroom is not in just in the lecture Hall, your classroom can be outside your classroom can be out in the field, collecting data for research.
Yeah, I'll majority of your classroom is very hands on. You will have the opportunity to, uh, do hands-on learning. Um, do research so your opportunity is definitely in list for you at UC Davis. Being a Top Research School Research School in the world, a lot of our students will have the opportunity to do that one for me. One of the best and one of the most fun elective course I took at UC Davis was our tractor driving class.
So you actually it's only a one unit class, but it's a great experience to learn how to drive and operate a tractor because you never know when that experience will come in handy for you, but we have all sorts of different courses that's available for students, and it doesn't always have to be in the classroom setting.
So at UC Davis there's a home for everyone, even including you. As I mentioned, one of the biggest thing that that I get from students I work with lots of students draw my year my job here at UC Davis is to recruit and work with non resident students. So I basically oversee are out-of-state recruitment. I recruit personally in Canada and around the world. So one thing that student always tell me is that they are amazed by how welcoming.
Our campus is UC Davis. Alot of our students are very nice. Very welcoming overall. We have a very welcoming environment for our students. OK, uh, you know. I personally chose UC Davis over the other UC school because of the environment. When I visited UC Davis, I felt like UC Davis was home. You see, Davis is the best fit for me compared to the other. You sees that I went to and one of the reasons why was I wanted to go to a large University.
But I I grew up in a in a smaller city growing up, so I wasn't used the big city like so at UC Davis. I still got the opportunity to experience a big University, but in a smaller city setting which is not too crazy. Not. There's not a lot of traffic in anything like that, so.
UC Davis there's a home for everyone, including you and I hope that you guys make UC Davis your home for the next four years. Some important dates to remember. OK, uhm, you have to submit your, uh.
A deadline by your Sir got a statement of attempt to register by May 1st. OK, so that's you saying yes or no? Yes I'm coming or no no thank you Davis. I'm not coming to UC Davis OK after that like I meant you have five days to apply for your student housing application and then July one is when you need to send us your official transcript and July 15 is when you need to send us your official test scores. So those are some important deadlines for you to remember.
Last but not least saw this web and are meant for students in Canada. I I see. I see that we have some students in California. That's joining us and I really appreciate that, but if you want to join us in this group. We have a WhatsApp group for students coming from Canada. So it's just basically a chat group. I'm on it, it, it gives you direct access to me. If you have any questions, you can definitely just pop the question into that chat group.
So if you want you can scan, take your camera out and scan this QR code to join the chat group. Or you can join it via the website the website right there, but I highly recommend you scan your QR code even if you're not in Canada. You can definitely join. I will be sending updates through that change every now and then, or if it just gives you the opportunity to connect directly with UC Davis.
Uh emission staff. If you have any questions on the way before you make your decision, OK, uhm as I mentioned this week, it is our experience so dot all throughout the week. We have different virtual webinar for students. I believe today's web and our focus on financial aid, but every day it's a different topic that's being discussed. You can join it by going onto our idea experience website.
Or through our Facebook life website.
Yeah, my emissions is where you will be, uh, this is a very important website for you. If you haven't. Um, I'm pretty sure you did create an account already in order for you to join this webinar, but this is where you will find a lot of your admissions information if you need to update us about your academic progress. This is where you would do it. This is where you will submit your intent to enroll your sia. This is where you will submit your academic updates.
Anything that you need, you can start off going through your mind emissions even with your heart, your housing application OK?
So after you submit your attention roll or your statement of intent to register you Sir, then you will have to attend orientation so orientation that shares a little bit different how orientation will work is that you will receive a link from our orientation office and you will complete a online orientation. So once you complete your online orientation, it will show you how to register.
What classes for the fourth quarter and then after that then you will attend a in person orientation right before school starts in September. So we are on a course system, so UC Davis along with Seven other UC school. We are on 1/4 system so we do start school a little bit later than University that that is on a semester system so our fault quarters will not start until the end of September or the first week of October so.
You will come to orientation towards the later part of September, right before school starts. OK, So what I said, I will open it up for questions if you have any questions. Definitely this is your time to ask that and I will address it to the best of my knowledge. And if you didn't get a chance I will highly recommend you scan this QR code to join or WhatsApp Group.
Do I have any questions you can ask me questions about my experience asking a question about UC Davis in general? Anything that will be beneficial for you to know. Definitely take advantage of this opportunity.

How do the resident halls look like? Do they have study spaces or kitchens?
So our i'ma talk a little bit about our residential Hall so our residential Hall is a majority of them are updated so we you can choose to live and a single room. I double room or a triple room. I don't recommend the triple room that it does get a little bit tight in there, but I do recommend that you live in the double room so you will have somebody to help you study with or someone to connect with during your time at UC Davis.
Um, an on every floor there is a Kit, Kitchen area and there is a a common space for students to hang out and study, and every floor has a residential advisor, so your residential advisor is usually upperclassmen, and there there for your safety and for your guidance as well. If you need help with anything, just know that your residential advisor is the first person for you to contact.
So, uh, every Hall or every floor has a residential advisor, and based on your preference. So when you submit your use your housing application, you can put your preference of which area you want to live in out of the three residential Hall area that we have, and what type of room that you want. So as I mentioned, you can choose perform a single double or triple occupancy an we have.
Bhavdeep Kahlon
05:31:26 PM
Is it mandatory to live on campus for the first year or can we live off campus?
A uh, a common area for students to hang out and study in a kitchen area as well.
So is it mandatory to live on campus for the first year? So no, our dormitory or or residential is not mandatory. So come into UC Davis. You can choose to live on campus or you can choose to find a off campus apartment and live off campus. So when I was a student at UC Davis, I live on campus but I have other friends who I met at UC Davis during the freshman year that they live off campus instead because they wanted to save a little bit more on.
The cost of attendance. So I my group of friends that I went to school with. There was four of them and they just got a 2 bedroom apartment which saved them a lot more money compared to living on campus. So it is not mandatory for freshman to live on campus for the first year.
Good question, anything else?
Veronica Zendejas
05:32:28 PM
I was wondering how easy it was to switch majors within a college or to switch into another college? Also, would this process occur while we are at Davis or before?
So another thing I wanted to touch apart as our academic polisy OK so UC Davis. We are actually very flexible with our academic policy compared to the other UC campuses. So based on the major that you are admitted in, let's say if you are emitted into biological science an you say now I'm not feeling this major after your first or second quarter and you wanna switch into another major within the College of biological science.
Or if you want to jump out of that College of biological science and you want to go into a different color, it is very simple. All you have to do is just submit a.
8 petition to change your major and have your advisor sign off of it in your major is switch. So the only challenging major to switch into its engineering. The College of Engineering is the most competitive college, so before they will allow you to switch it to engineering, you have to take the engineering prerequisite courses. There's like 5 of those courses and you have to maintain a 2.8 GPA cutoff in order to switch into that major. After you complete your five courses for that major.
But other than that, um, it's very easy to switch your major and one of the great thing about UC Davis is that whatever college you are in minute into, you're not stuck in that college. You have the opportunity to switch out of that college an explore a different major. Some of the other campuses in the United States. Whatever college you are a minute into, you are basically limited to that college only. You cannot switch college, so that's one of the biggest difference in terms of academic policy wise at UC Davis that.
Our students have the freedom to jump around. You can double major and you can pick a major in a different college and you can major with two major and two different college. So you have the opportunity to double major or you can pick up a minor majority of our students do pick up a minor before they graduate.
Any other questions that you guys have?
Bhavdeep Kahlon
05:34:59 PM
Could you go over tuition costs?
So if there's no more questions than I would in this webinar, as I mentioned, I really appreciate you guys taking the time out of your day to the join me for this one. OK, one more quick. So tuition costs so tuition so I have some California students in this webinar as well, but I'm just going to cover the tuition for our non resident so non residents.
Tuition for students coming from outside of California. The total cost of attendance is around $64,000. That includes your. That's your total package here. Tuition for the whole year. You are room and board. You have books and supplies or transportation. Your student health insurance. If your parents have health insurance that covers you that you can use in California, then you can wave.
The health insurance costs, but as it stands right now, the total cost of attendance. The total package for students coming from outside of California is around $64,000.
And this now and this causes different for my California students. So if you're a California students, you you will be paying way less than that.
OK, um, as I mentioned, uh, there's no more questions, then I will end this webinar. If you have anymore questions further further down the line, feel free to ask the question in our WhatsApp Group an an I will be sending you updates through the WhatsApp Group in regards to UC Davis and what is going on. Other than that, thank you for your time. Have a wonderful evening and I hope to see you on the UC Davis campus this fall and.
I want everybody to stay safe. We will get through this pandemic together, but for right now stay safe and um and best of luck to you. Ask you guys all finished your high school career.
