So just to give you an overview of what we're planning to cover this afternoon, we're going to go over the tag, of course, and some of the general transfer admission requirements were also going to touch on selective majors, and some of the transfer resources are available to you on line, since everything is online now, completing the UC tab profile. Hopefully most of you already have AUC tab and then also starting your UC tag application. You won't be able to submit anything yet.

Jackie Nguyen
05:04:51 PM
Hi Thy and Ali. Good to see you today!
OK transfer admission requirements. So these are the basic admission requirements. This is the same admission requirements at every UC campus, not just for UC Davis. So you need to be at junior level studying, which means that you need to have at least 60 UC transferable semester units and have a minimum GPA of 2.4 to be used. The eligible for UC Davis. Our bottom line on GPA that we consider as competitive is at the very least that two point.
8 or higher, and then it's a 3.1 minimum GPA for engineering and computer science. Also, you need to complete 7 course pattern, so that includes the two English composition courses. At least one transferable math course and then four courses from at least two different subject areas. So that can be in the arts and Humanities. The Social, Behavioral Sciences, as well as the physical and Biological Sciences.
Alright, so for UM, for the tag you know, because it is a guaranteed admission. We do have a, you know a a separate criteria or I guess I would say a higher criteria. You know, for the guaranteed admission because it is a guarantee, right? So we expect that students have the following, so students have to complete, you know, if you're planning to transfer for fall 2021 and you're planning to tag for this upcoming application cycle, you need to have at least 30 UC transferable semester units.
By the end of this summer.
Lazer Introlegator
05:06:39 PM
Will there be a chance to ask questions after we go through the slides?
Mayra Escobar
05:06:58 PM
Hi Lazer, yes - you will be able to ask questions at the end
And these are California Community College units, right? So 30 using transferable semester units by the end of summer, you also need to have at least a 3.2 overall GPA by the end of summer for engineering for any of our engineering majors as well as computer science, you need to have a 3.4 overall GPA, and then there are additional criteria for a selective majors, which we will go over in the next few slides.
And then I'm so when when you're filling out your tab, you know we're asking you to include all of your coursework that you plan to take up until spring of 2021, right? So we're going to check to make sure that you have the two English composition course is completed by the end of fall 2020, as well as the one transferable math course, so you can have that second English composition course and at one transferable math course in progress in the fall.
When you submit your tag application.
And then we're also going to check to make sure that by the end of Spring 2021 that you will meet all the admission and selective major requirements.
Uh, main maintain the overall and selective major GPA. So to make sure that you still have the 3.2 overall GPA or the 3.4 overall GPA for Engineering, Computer Science and that you have the minimum 60 transferable units by the end of spring of 2021.
So I keep mentioning selective major. What is a selective major? So for most of our majors, when we review your application and when we review your tag, you know we're pretty much looking at the requirements that I mentioned in the previous slide. For selective majors, these are majors that require completion of specific coursework, so you're some or all of the major prep courses are required depending on the major. And there's also an associated GPA required.
For those, um, major prep courses, and so you see, Davis has over 100 majors there, divided into 4 different colleges. We have the College of AG and Environmental Sciences College of Biological Sciences, College of engineering and the College of letters and science. So out of those 100 plus undergraduate majors, there are 32 majors that you see Davis considers as a selective for this coming fall 2021.
Right, So what are those majors? So, um, from the College of agricultural and environmental Sciences? Those include biotechnology, viticulture, technology, managerial economics, and in the College of Biological Sciences. All of the majors in the college biosci are selected so it doesn't matter if you're applying Aspio side as Biochemistry. Molecular Biology, neurobiology, Physiology, and behavior. Cell biology. Any of those majors. Genetics and genomics there all selective.
But wait, there's more. So for the College of engineering that all of our 12 engineering majors are selective. And then in the College of letters and science.
In the College of letters and science we have the following applied physics, computer science, mathematics, pharmaceutical chemistry, physics, psychology and economics. And then in case there are students listening that are planning for fall 2022 admission for tag, there are additional selective majors, and those include applied mathematics, mathematical analytics and operations, research, and mathematical and scientific computation.
So all of our math majors will be selective starting fall of 2022.
OK, next slide OK so here are some online resources that are available to you all. Um, I'm sure everyone is familiar with assist.org. Assist.org is a website that your counselors religiously use that we use all the time as you see representatives, but you have access to. This is an open website, so this is where you can go to find out which courses from your Community College are you see transferable.
You can also find courses that will fulfill general education requirements as well as the I get seen the iget see which is an interesting mental general education transfer curriculum and also specific major requirements, major prep courses specific to each campus in each major. The other resource that you have available to that we're also going over today is the transfer admission planner. So the admission transfer planner.
Ally Schiffmaier
05:12:52 PM
What is the minimum GPA required to enter a science major or program at UC Davis? Is it the same with engineering?
Is your online tool? It is your online planner. It is not the UC application. I just want to put that out there and make sure everybody is aware of that. But there are a lot of benefits to it and one of them is to allow for UC Rep to re evaluate your coursework that you've already completed and what you have planned and so we can provide tailored and customize advising depending on which major you're interested in. And it also.
It's also the home of the transfer admission guarantee. It's also a way that we can relay important information to respective students. For example, you know if we have appointment at our community colleges, you've probably received the email that was sent to you earlier this week about this web and are right, and the advising appointments that we have available available during the summer and any other.
Jackie Nguyen
05:13:50 PM
@Allison, it depends on majors. If your major is a selective major, you have to pay close attention to the selective requirements. Here is the link for you. https://www.ucdavis.edu/admissions/undergraduate/transfer/selective-major-requirements/
Events that we have throughout the year, like um, discovery, you see Davis and the Aggie transfer scholars weekend next slide please. So now let's transition into the transfer admission planner or the UC tap so they use the top is not only used by UC Davis, it's actually a UC system wide tool used by all of the nine undergraduate campuses. So if you're planning to transfer to any of these you sees, it's always going to be.
You know helpful and beneficial to you to start your top as early as possible.
Toni Schiffmaier
05:14:17 PM
What is the difference between the TAP and UC Application?
Breyana Mcclendon
05:14:27 PM
That’s a great question Allison: I’m thinking the same thing. I am majoring in Nutrition and I would like to know that as well..
Next, slide OK. So now we want to share with you some screenshots of what they use. The top looks like, so this is the URL for the UC transferred mission planner. It's easytap.universityofcalifornia.edu if you don't have an account just yet. The first thing you would do is click on the start. Now under a new student.
Um, on that right hand, Um Gray Box 2 on the right hand side of the screen.
So once you create your account, this is what it looks like you know, so you can. Uhm, you can see all the different components of the UC tab. There's going to be a section for my information, my messages, my coursework, my exams review. Here's the application for tag. Like I said earlier, it's the home of the tag. And then there's also a link for the UC application, so I also students at this is pretty much are starting point if you're planning to transfer to any UC campus, right? This is your gateway into the transfer admission process.
You can always update your information. You know if you change your email address or you change your address or phone number, you can always change your password. You know you can always do that by clicking on my account link up in the upper right hand corner.
OK, so my information, so that's the first section from the home page. Uhm, and so this is where you would input your high school, what High School you attended, or high schools you attended. You have to list the dates of attendance and then also we want you to list every single college and University that you have ever attended ever enrolled in. From the time that you started taking college level classes. I know many of you have.
Jackie Nguyen
05:16:20 PM
@Toni, TAP is a transfer admission planner. UC reps like us will review your academic records to see if you are eligible. It helps us help you be UC eligible. TAP is also the home of the TAG. UC application is an application to let the UC campus that you want to apply to.
Mayra Escobar
05:16:31 PM
@Toni - the UC TAP is an online planner that helps us guide you in preparing for admissions. the UC application allows us to consider you for admissions
Kristy Ng
05:16:44 PM
toni- tap is the transfer admissions planner, which shows the courses you are taking. uc application is for applying to the school
Ally Schiffmaier
05:16:49 PM
To enter UCD, how many years of other languages does one need
Taking Community College classes, even in high school. So when you're entering your dates of attendance, make sure to include those dates even though they were in high school. It's also important you know if you're attending multiple community colleges to indicate which which community colleges your current or most recent school, so that's also really important at the bottom of that screen, right? There is a field box.
Jackie Nguyen
05:17:04 PM
@Kristy. A+ for you! Great answer
So that's a place to for you to briefly explain if you have any gaps in your educational history. So say, for example, you took a break right after high school. You know, maybe you worked for a year just to take a break from school. That's all you need to do. Is that you need to put from.
Summer 2019, so um fall 2020. Uhm, you know I was working full time that's you know so just really brief we don't need a long essay explanation about why you had a gap in education. We just need to know.
So the next UM portion I know we're going to skip more, and it's also a messaging tool, but already and I already mentioned that earlier that we can really some information to their the next one is my coursework. So under my coursework we want you to make sure that you're using your transcripts when you're entering your coursework, and you are required to enter every single course exactly as it appears on your transcript or transcripts in chronological order.
Mayra Escobar
05:18:16 PM
@Allison - a foreign language is not required for admission eligibility. It is a general education required for graduation. Typically two years from high school or one year at the community college - unless you are going into a major that requires more years
Jackie Nguyen
05:18:28 PM
Here is a good website to look at that. https://admission.universityofcalifornia.edu/counselors/graduation-requirements/language/davis/
Toni Schiffmaier
05:18:38 PM
If one has taken courses from multiple colleges, how should one list start and end dates
So even if it's non transferable, even if it was a withdraw, even if it was a no pass or um or an academic renewal, you know we need you to enter every single course and enter the grade exactly as it appears on your transcript. So even repeated courses like say for example. I know there was a question from the registration that you know if you receive the DRF grade initially, but you repeated it. Probably this last spring and got a passing grade of C or better.
Bianca Eslampour
05:18:48 PM
Hi, I am taking courses currently at 2 CC's but on TAP it only allows me to say I am a current student for only one college. What should I do?
You still have to report that, um, original D or F grade, so that's what we mean by don't self evaluate 'cause we will do those. We will do that evaluation for you and make those.
And catch those repeats and apply those discounted units and great points when when it's necessary or where it applies.
Brenda Ametepe
05:19:42 PM
@Bianca I have the same problem
OK, so um, the really another really cool thing about that you see tab is that it is linked with the assist.org website. So for the most part it pretty much can identify which courses are you see transferable. So those are the easiest courses to input right? So if you enter say in this example we have English 1A from College of Alameda. So when you type in ENDL in that course.
Um, it will pop right up. All you need to do is click on that course and then it will pre populate the units for you. So all you really need to do is either select the grade if it's of course that you've already completed, or if it's a course that you're taking this summer or you plan for fall 21. I mean fall 2020 or spring 2021 then you can click on that radio button that says planned. If it's a course that is non transferable.
Uhm, I think we can go to the next slide so that so if it's a course that is not transferable.
Mayra Escobar
05:20:34 PM
@Toni: the start dates are easy because its basically the term you start at the community college. For the end dates, you are entering your plan... if you are planning to be enrolled at both until the time you transfer, then you will select spring 2021
Then we still want you to input it. So for example, a lot of students may have taken intermediate algebra, for example at Los Rios. I believe that's math 120, so like if you type in in their words as step three, when you type in math and it shows all the math courses that are using transferable. Obviously it won't show up there. So all you need to do is click on that link at the bottom. I know it's kind of.
Easy to miss a lot of students miss it. Uhm, so you would click on that link where it says my course is not listed here at it. And when you do that a window will pop up with a blank template. Uh, you know, for you to enter that non transferable course and that also applies to courses that are taken from another four year University. Maybe some of you have attended a CSU or UC prior to attending your Community College or maybe you've taken some courses.
Out of state, you know? So for those courses, obviously they won't pop up when you enter that, try to look for that pours, so those would also need to be entered manually using this function.
Breyana Mcclendon
05:22:02 PM
Hello, good afternoonwe are applying to UC Davis Next year fall 2021- when we apply this year it’s based off our current GPA as of now or by next year fall GPA- because I still have 2 classes to complete before I transfer next year.
OK, next slide, um. Some of you may have completed um AP Advanced Placement or IB International Baccalaureate exams. When you were in high school and you know those have to be included in your self reported.
Mayra Escobar
05:22:17 PM
@Bianca and Brenda: You will select the college that you identify as your primary institution, and the other ones will be listed as not current even though your dates of attendance will show that you are attending multiple institutions
Course information as well. So again we try to make it as easy Sneezy as possible for you to enter that information. All the AP exams are listed there, so all you need to do is click on the AP exam that you completed or that you took. So in this example we have AP chemistry, so you click on AP chemistry, you enter your score, you enter the date that you took it, so may of whatever your junior year senior year and then.
What's really cool about it too? Is it gives you a preliminary um, illuminary account of how many units you earn from your AP exams?
OK, so for the transfer admission guarantee, uhm, there are six UC campuses that offer the tag, so these are the six Santa Barbara Moore, said. Davis, Santa Cruz, Irvine, an Riverside so that talk application is also in your.
That application is also within your. You see top. However you can only tag to one UC campus. You can tag to all of them, unfortunately.
Miguel Montalvo Hernandez
05:23:45 PM
what about for international courses
Uh, so you can only tag the one campus and the system is already programmed. That way you know you can't really click on more than one campus and the filing period is during the month of September, so there are no extensions to that is from September 1st through 30th. It's a bit your tag application through your UC tab and then 4.
Toni Schiffmaier
05:24:12 PM
What if there are gaps between semesters for my non-home college?
You see Davis, we usually a release. The decisions and notification for A tag. Decisions around mid November. And even if you have A tag, you must submit a UC application. The tag application is simply that an application for the guaranteed admission. So you still have to submit that UC application that is due by November 30th.
Mayra Escobar
05:24:41 PM
@ Toni - you will still list the start and end dates, no breaks even though you didnt enroll
Jackie Nguyen
05:24:42 PM
@Breyana, Great question! Pam and Mayra will answer that question live. since students always ask us this question.
And so to keep that all in one place here is that timeline that I mentioned earlier. You know, without your phone and take a quick picture of that. If you like an enter it into your calendar so you don't miss any important deadlines. So August 1st. So for those of you or transferring fall 2021, there's a lot happening in the starting in the fall, even before fall semester starts. For you all August 1st is when they use the application opens up.
Toni Schiffmaier
05:25:18 PM
Thank you.
Bianca Eslampour
05:25:39 PM
I know some UC's you apply for pre-econ.. is this pre-econ or do you go straight into the major?
Sukhdip Kaur
05:25:44 PM
How does the TAG application look like?
You know, and it's a very lengthy and comprehensive application, so I highly, highly recommend that you start as early as possible to make sure that you go through all the different sections of the UC application, because it is a lot and then like I said earlier, that application is during the month of September. Tag notification for UC Davis and actually UC Merced also notifies their students only the two of them out of the six will notify students of their tag decision by mid November.
Richard Occhino
05:25:57 PM
Once you input your course on the right hand side what does the Cert 1 area for ???? Is this part of the 60 transferable units???
And then the UC application is due by the end of November in January. OK, so this is a really critical step in your application process in January.
We are going to ask you to create an my emissions account so you'll receive a notification that we received your application and that we want you to create an admissions portal for UC Davis and In addition to that, you're also going to need to log into the transfer academic update so the transfer academic update is.
Uh, a process you know for you to report your fall Semester Grace. So the great that you receive at the end of fall 2020 and also update any changes that you may have for spring.
And then Fasa for financial aid, the FAFSA or California DREAM Act application opens up as early as October 1st and you have until March 2nd. To get that in. That is a hard and fast deadline you guys. So if you are, specially if you're looking into trying to qualify for the blue and gold opportunity plan, then that Fasa, an California DREAM Act application has to be in by March 2nd and you have a lot of months to work on that. So no excuses.
Alexandra Diamant
05:27:31 PM
Is TAG binding?
And then in late April is when we notify students of their official admission to the campus and then June 1st is your deadline to submit your statement of intent to register. Some of you will be applying to multiple UC campuses and you may be admitted to multiple UC campuses. So you have until June 1st to make that life changing decision.
Jackie Nguyen
05:27:54 PM
@Sukhdip, it might be your computer. See if you can get out and come back in the presentation again. I had the same issue earlier.
Toni Schiffmaier
05:28:20 PM
Once accepted, are students required to complete all requirements to graduate within two years? I know some UCs that have this requirement.
And with that, uhm, you know, we leave you with our contact information, so we have our website ucdavis.edu/top. That's where you'll find the advising appointments for your representative at your Community College. And then you can also email send an email to our student outreach ambassadors or SOS. So top so at ucdavis.edu are student outreach ambassadors are there to answer any questions that are.
Sukhdip Kaur
05:28:24 PM
Oh okay thanks!

05:28:35 PM
We cannot open the UC TAG until September right?
Related to student life up and you know anything that you're wondering about. You know what it's like to transition to a large universities such as you see Davis. And then we're also available in social media. So with that, I think we can go ahead and start answering some of your questions.
Mira will be reading those out for us.
Yes, and we have a few of them actually really good questions. And Jackie's being a busy bee answering on the on the chat. But uhm, I know Brianna is asking if we are applying to UC Davis next year for fall 2021 when we applied. This year is based off of our current GPA or as of now the current GPA as of now or by next year's GPA. Because I have two classes to complete before I transfer.
That's a great question. Uhm, so for in let's see. So for the tag, right? So I mentioned earlier that we're looking for a 3.2 or 3.4 if your engineering computer science that DPA has to be.
Angelo Talento
05:29:48 PM
When will we be notified for ATSW results? If we applied for it will changing our TAP right now void my application?
Maxwell Meyers
05:29:56 PM
How do you get messages through the TAP planner?
Breyana Mcclendon
05:30:05 PM
I have a GPA of 3.0 as of now
And by the end of summer, right? So if you are, you know, uhm, when you apply, we're going to revisit that in January, February, right? Uhm, after you complete your transfer academic update, right? So that goes for all transfer applicants were going to calculate your GPA inclusive of your fall semester grades. So like say for example.
Sukhdip Kaur
05:30:26 PM
When do we send AP scores?
Jude Farhat
05:30:43 PM
Why does my gpa look higher on my transcript than on my TAP account?
Lazer Introlegator
05:30:47 PM
Is GPA calculated per subject or overall?
An you know like I said, 2.8 is the minimum that we consider as competitive for UC Davis, so maybe we're at a 2.78 by the end of summer, you know and we still encourage you to apply 'cause you still have that fall semester to really push forward an bring that GPA up with of course is that you're taking in the fall so will recalculate your GPA once you submit your transfer academic update an that GPA is.
Jace Yum
05:30:56 PM
If I got accepted UC Davis TAG in the middle of November, do I still need to submit UC application for UC Davis?
What we're going to use to make a decision on your application?
Great, thank you so we have another question from Richard. He is saying Once you input your course on the right hand side, what does the certified one area for is this part of the 60 transferable units?
Do you know what he's talking about them?
He said, yeah, if it's a certified then it means that it's you see transferable. According to assist.org, the areas I think the areas are the minimum.
A subject requirements you know, so I would say like, if it's a UCE for an English composition, are you see me for a transferable math? And it would say like you Ch. For arts and Humanities and you see before behavioral social science and then you see S for biological and physical Sciences.
I believe that's what he's asking.
Yes, and I have the slide on the screen at the moment that sure shows the summary.
And that kind of tells you what the acid certified courses are. Remember that assist certified. Adjust the courses that the system is recognizing us transferable per assist.org. But a sister or hasn't been updated in awhile, so there might be some courses that are not appearing in there that are transferable, which is why our evaluation is important. So that gives you just a quick overview. That doesn't mean that that is just what you are getting.
That's why we will go in there and do an evaluation.
Mayra Escobar

Right, yeah, oh, you know what I do? Want to mention that, uhm, you know since since you mentioned that assist is not up to date. 'cause I'm getting a lot of questions about this from students about the major specific articulation meaning. You know, the major prep courses are required, especially for selective majors. So there is a website that we use for using data specifically that shows the major to major articulation between community colleges.
And uhm, and you see this an I think Mira, you just type it in there, right? So it's it's called a UC Davis majors guide. You know, if you miss that that chat, you just Google it. If you Google UC Davis majors guy, that's the first thing that will pop up and so that will. That's what we use right now is our makeshift assist.
Later is asking is GPA calculated per subject or overall.
Or something, or overall. Oh, that's a great question. So for all the majors you know we're looking, we're calculating overall GPA, and by overall GPA I mean the GPA that factors in all of your using transferable coursework, right? So if you took like math 120 like I said earlier, like the intermediate algebra or a remedial English cores, or the Supplemental English or math courses are not using transferable.
Bianca Eslampour
05:35:04 PM
I have a few questions about econ: what is the difference between regular econ and managerial econ? Also I know some UC
Those do not factor into your GPA, so the GPA that we are particularly interested in is your UC transferable GPS. It's your overall GPA. Then for selective majors, so I invite you to join us for next week's web and R which will be specifically about selective major. So it's going to mention that earlier and I forgot. So next week we're gonna cover selective majors and what those technical details are specifically for those selected majors, visit like 30 two. They just say 32 or 30 months. Something like that so.
Jackie Nguyen
05:35:22 PM
@Biance, please attend our selective major presentation next week! :)
Majors and join us next week for that to find out more, but so far those selected majors were looking at both overall GPA. And then we're also looking at GPS and specific courses, right? So for some of those selected majors were looking at all of the GPA from all of the prerequisite courses such as engineering and then four or psychology, and then for some of the majors like Biological Sciences, for instance, it's by category.
Right, so bye-bye course group. So there's a GPA that we look for in your bio series in your calculus series in your chemistry series so, but join us next week for this elective majors Department will go through all of that with you.
Oh, I will not pronounce this name, right, a Scion Scion.
Asking if I got accepted into UC Davis tag in the middle of November, do I still need to submit the UC application for UC Davis?
If you do, yeah. So like I said earlier, that application is just tagged applications, so you still have to to complete and submit. You reduce the application and submit it in November and so even if you have a guaranteed admission, it's still really important to fill out the application as thoroughly and Thoughtfully as possible, because you know, in case you were not aware that you see application for admission is also an application for scholarships.
So again, we try to make it as easy as possible for you to attain both ignition and scholarships at the same time.
Jackie Nguyen
05:37:29 PM
For up to date articulation agreements to UC Davis, please use the majorsguide that Mayra posted. Here it is again. https://admissions.ucdavis.edu/majorsGuide/index.cfm
Thank you and we have a couple of questions from Max here. The first one rates if you have other state classes, how do you determine whether they meet transfer requirements and the second one with? How do you get messages through the top planner?
Maxwell Meyers
05:37:37 PM
If you have out-of-state classes, how do you determine whether they meet transfer requirements?
So stay or you know, other four year universities? Yes, using is my best advice for that is contact your UC Davis Rep email then. So when you go to our website rightthereuserdavis.edu/top you can click on the link that says participating colleges and then from there you'll see who your UC Davis Rep is so you can contact them. Send him an email.
So that they can take a look at your you see, tap enter those courses, enter that college University on your you see tap so that we can review it and then the second part of that question was.
It was how do you? How do you get messages through the top planner?
Toni Schiffmaier
05:39:00 PM
Is there a max unit limit for admission for any of the majors?
No, uhm, well all the euses uhm, use it as sort of a recruitment tool so uhm, you know you may be getting messages because you have a you see tab and you just didn't know it. Like for example that the email that you received last Monday, you know, alerting you about these webinars an about are advising appointments. That's because you have a you Z top and then you indicated you see data as one of the campus. Is that you're interested in and other UC campuses will.
Use it for that same purpose. You know if they have any events. I are online right now. Everything is going to be online for awhile and then or if they have events on campus or even at your account with specifically, they'll send you an email.
Inviting you to those those specific events.
And then your counselor to actually your counselor. If you know when they're reviewing your transfer admission guarantee and and if they see if they needed to clarify anything that they can send you a message through your you see top as well.
Jackie Nguyen
05:39:50 PM
@Max and @Toni, Pam will answer your questions live. @Lazer, please ask your questions again, if you don't see it here. We're still going through them to approve
I have a quick question over here, kind of like sidetrack. But before I lose it I will ask it. So Frederick is asking when will we be notified for ATSW results if we applied for it? Will changing our tab right now void my application?
Lazer Introlegator
05:40:41 PM
I never attended High School. There is no option to select "no high school" in the TAP account
Yeah, so thank you for all of you. Applied for the Aggie Transfer Scholars weekend, we received um close to 300 applications this year in a record breaking for our 4th year is the 4th year 1789. Yeah, this is our fourth year of doing a transfer scholars weekend so you know just hang in there. Thank you for updating your you see tabs. That just means that you got my email asking you to update your you see tabs and include all the courses up to spring of 2021.
Uh, we're currently going through them were sifting through them. It's it's gonna be a really hard decision to make up, you know, to try to read it down to 140 participants. Uhm, but rest assured, even if we don't, even if you don't get selected to participate for the actual event that we will stay in touch with you an you will have access to a lot of the webinars that then we produce coming out of that of that event.
And you know you have access to your UC Davis transfer opportunity program coordinator as well from your community colleges as a resource.
So when when are we uhm sending out decisions, um?
The plan is before the holiday, before the 4th of July holiday.
But we cannot get it out of there before the holiday. Bear with us, you will hear from us soon.
It really is a lot 300 apps.
Yeah, so Tony's asking. Is there a Max number of units Aurora Max unit limit for admissions for any of the majors?
That's a great question. Yeah, we get that question a lot. So if all of your coursework is coming from my California Community College, then there really is no limit. You know you can have 150, you know you see transferable semester units annual still be considered a junior level transfer applicant. You know you're not a senior, it may only pose as a problem.
Potentially, if you have mixed records, let's say you know you have work from a four year University and Community College, and that might put you over to senior standing. But if all of your work is coming from a California Community College or Community College, then you're going to be a junior.
Jackie Nguyen
05:42:57 PM
@Lazer, you are right. there is no option that say "no high school." We will let UCOP know to include that in the future.
An uh, we have lesser asking that he never attended high school so there is no option to select. No high school in the top account.
How would you go about it?
Josh Hickel
05:43:12 PM
I'm assuming that by fall 2021 in-person classes will be resuming? Has anything been decided regarding this?
Oh, that's a great question.
He got, he got into it for them.
Uhm, I mean if you know did not attend High School is that was that the question?
Wow, um, I'm kind of something that Myra.
What is your answer to that?
Aaron Holsonege
05:44:02 PM
Beyond my academic history, what else is considered with the TAG application?
I guess that would be one of the questions that I will be asking if I was meeting with you personally. You would draw the you just drop out of high school. Did you complete your GD? Any of those questions? He really depends on the circumstance and you will have an opportunity to explain the circumstance in the application when it comes to the planner, he really doesn't matter because we only use it for guidance and preparation, right? But once we get into the application.
Porsche and then you will need to explain what the situation is. It's not something that we get very often. It does happen sometimes, so you really depends on the circumstance and what is going on and we will help you with the reporting. Once we know more about what the situation is.
Yeah, a lot of times you know we get students who are home school, you know. So if that's the case then they can list their high school as home school.
Yeah, so I'm contact us. You know we will try to find out more.
Good question. So Aaron is asking beyond my academic history, what else is considered with the tag application?
Sukhdip Kaur
05:44:45 PM
Do we need to be full time when we are applyng for tag
With the tag application, yeah, so in the tag application the the selection process for that is primarily your academic performance, so you know as I as we presented earlier, it's your units that you have 30 by the end of summer, 16 by spring of next year. The GPA, the English in the math, and the major prep courses. If you're in a selective major for the tag, it's primarily academic coursework, that's it.
But they are asking about just the tag, right?
Or application in general.
They were talking about that application.
OK yeah, so for dog? Yeah, it's just academic.
An A in that note, a sub dip is asking if, uh, do we need to be full time when we are applying for tag?
Jackie Nguyen
05:46:12 PM
@Joshua, Fall 2021 is still far from now. So far, not yet. COVID situation is fluid so we will follow the CDC's recommendations
We need to get highly recommended that you are full time student from for the last three regular terms, so that would include if your fall 2021. So the three regular terms would include this past spring, spring of 2020 and fall 2020 and then spring of 2021 is highly recommended that that you're a full time student, meaning enrolled in 12 units or more, or at least 12 units.
Uh, but if you are not a full time student, uh, I'm sure there is a reason for that, right? And as long as you meet the, you know the criteria as a whole, but.
Franzinne Martinez
05:46:44 PM
Any comments for international students?
But we would recommend is make sure that you include a comment in your tag application so there's no comment box right now when you go into your tab, but once you start your tag application in September in the first step of that tag applications admission process, there will be a comment box, and in that comment box, that's where you can explain that. I'm not a full time student in fall 2020 and or spring 2021 because XYZ.
You know, so there could be a variety of reasons, so we'll take that into consideration.
You know, uhm, but just make sure that you include an explanation.
Oh, and I think that, um, let's see we have another one from Thai deep.
Thy Diep
05:47:29 PM
Due to the COVID-19, my school may not offer Bio and Chemistry classes in Fall 2020 but those classes are required for my major. Should I find other colleges to take those classes or wait until I transfer?
Oh, let's see. So there asking, did you cover 19 other school may not offer bio in chemistry classes in the fall 2020 which are required for the major. The we recommend that they find other college and that are offering those courses in complete them or wait until they transfer.
Yeah, can you share with us?
Wow, I wonder what Community College that is this.
Can you show me a switch Community College as those are? Because if they every other courses are required for your major, you will not be able to transfer without the courses. So we need to talk to the colleges.
Yeah, so we would need to know. So um, let's see there's a couple of ways to answer that question, right? Uhm, one is if you're in a selective major, right? Like if your bio side right or biotech and or even psychology, that's like has a bio requirement.
You know, and those that bio course is required for your major because it's a selective maker.
Mayra Escobar
05:48:47 PM
@Franzinne - what would you like to know about international students?
And if it's not offered, if it's completely not being offered in fall or spring, then you would need to again include that in that comment box as an explanation number one.
Um number to make sure that you meet with your top representative Community College you know to go over your options regarding that. So if it's if it's a course that is completely not being offered at all, your Community College.
Or your your your counseling office.
Jackie Nguyen
05:49:25 PM
@Franzinne, can you specify what you'd like to know? International students have 2 things to worry about 1) admission and 2) residency. They go hand in hand. Please find your UCD TOP rep and talk about this
Breyana Mcclendon
05:49:30 PM
are we able to take classes next year spring before transferring in Fall 2021
Angelo Talento
05:49:51 PM
If we have our IGETC requirement fufilled from a previous class in highschool will we send our highschool transcript along side our UC application?
Must report that to us. So there is a way for them to report classes that are not being offered that may affect selective major, such as biosci or biotech. Or any of those measures that are selective. So there. Yeah, there's two different processes, or that your Community College needs to report that to us, and I would advise you to meet with your top representative as soon as possible to go over your options.
Angelo Talento
05:49:58 PM
(ex. Language)
Uh, maybe you want to add? What else do you want to add anything to that?
Cover that up pretty well. Talk to us and we'll figure out what exactly the situation is to help you with that.
Breyana Mcclendon
05:50:16 PM
What is Nutrition GPA?
So Frederick is asking if we have our eye gets in requirement fulfilled from a previous class in high school with which sent our high school transcripts alone our using application.
So when you submit your UC application, we don't require any transcripts. You're not required to submit any high school transcripts or college transcripts. Everything is going to be based on your self reported information.
For the tag for the UC application, once you are admitted to a campus, then that's when we're going to require you to submit your official transcripts, and that includes your high school transcript.
Jackie Nguyen
05:50:59 PM
@Breyana, yes you do. You will apply for admission with Fall 2020 and spring 2021 classes included in the application
Thank you Pam. OK so I have.
Yeah, is asking. I haven't participated in any long term extracurricular activities since high school, and I am planning on transferring info 2021. Will I be at disadvantage when applying to transfer?
So it depends on which UC campus you apply to, right? So um, for the admissions process we use a.
Jackie Nguyen
05:51:58 PM
@breyana, if you can tag, GPA requirement is 3.2. If you don't tag, then you want to be as competitive so you can be admitted.
A process called comprehensive review and that comprehensive review process is different at every UC campus for some of the campuses, including UC Davis. Currently our selection process is primarily based on academic information, so you know that's your academic history, your units, your GPA, coursework required, but for some of the other UC campuses that employ a more holistic review process in their selection.
Thy Diep
05:52:20 PM
How can I join the webinar next week?
You know campuses such as UC Berkeley or UCLA. They consider both academic and non academic factors. So in that regard you know it may be a disadvantage, but you know it again, it really depends on your situation. You know, maybe you were not able to participate in extracurricular activities because maybe you were working full time. You know, because you know that's life just happens and you need to work full time so.
Jackie Nguyen
05:52:59 PM
For students who are curious about what's considered as "competitive" you can use this link to look at the statistics on the previous admission cycle. https://www.universityofcalifornia.edu/infocenter/transfers-major
That's also a consideration in your application. You need to include that in your app. If that's the case. Or maybe you were caring for a family member, your parents or grandparents that doesn't really allow you to participate in a lot of extra curricular activities. So basically we just, you know, on your application we want you to.
I guess you know show us you know what you do inside and outside of the classroom. Alot of student discount that working full time or you know maybe caring for your family? You know some a lot of students transfer students, have families have kids of their own and a lot of times they don't think that that's something that they should include in your application. But it is. That's part of all the obstacles and challenges that you had to overcome during your Community College career.
Jackie Nguyen
05:53:48 PM
@Thy, you will need to register using this link https://ua.ucdavis.edu/portal/TOPworkshops
So IO is asking whether we do it. We want to change our plan courses for the spring 2021. After we submit our tag application in September.
Nicole Ibewiro
05:54:11 PM
I am taking many of my required coursework for my major during the fall and spring. Will that affect my TAG?
So after you send me your tag application in September, you will have to submit the application in November. So if there are any changes between September to November, you just update it on your UC application. There will be a comment box in there too for any that's where you can just.
Highlight you know that instead of taking uhm intro to film, I'm taking music appreciation or something like that and then another opportunity to update your coursework is in January so that transfer academic update that all applicants need to submit in January. Yeah, thank you for pulling up the timeline. So in January the transfer academic update is also another time for you to update what courses you're taking in the spring.
Yeah, that that changes. You know for any students.
Jackie Nguyen
05:55:09 PM
@Nicole, if your major is selective, by the time of tag, you have to be in good standing with your selective requirement to be approved. I would suggest meeting with your TOP rep just to be sure!
Thank you. Alright, so another question from Renee's and sorry for messing up your names guys. I am doing my best.
The African still have a chance at admissions if they do not complete. 1 require course by the end of Spring 2021 for engineering majors.
You know before I answer that question, it just reminded me of something because we are talking about the tag. In this webinar. I just want to say that you know, if you don't qualify for the tag, it's not the end of the world. You know tag is just one way to be admitted to a campus, but it's not the only way. Majority of the students that we admit just applies with the regular application process without A tag. Majority of them probably about 2/3 of our admitted student pool are non tag.
Maxwell Meyers
05:56:12 PM
How are you considering "credit" grades taken during this past semester (rather than letter grades) due to the COVID epidemic
Applicants, so just keep that in mind. You know. Don't let it discourage you. If you submit the tag and then it gets denied, you know for whatever reason you know you can still be a competitive applicant for admission. I would say you know if your tag is denied, meet with your UC Davis top representative to go over what those reasons are. Because we do outline specifically why your tag was denied.
Jackie Nguyen
05:56:46 PM
@Max, you're referring to Pass or No Pass? we would give "credit" to your unit contribution but not to GPA.
And then so the question was if you're missing one course you know, so it's the answer is different depending on the major that you apply into. If you are in a selective major and it's a chorus that is required for your selected major, you know it's absolutely required to complete all of those required courses by the end of Spring 2021. If you're in a non selective major, then you're not required to complete all of your major prep courses that are listed.
The UC Davis majors guide or assist.org.
Maelani Gumataotao
05:57:14 PM
I can't be a full time student my last semester because of my athletic eligibility. However, I took this summer semester with 18 units. Can my summer semester count as one of the three semesters as full time?
Did that answer the question?
Yes, and you actually, I believe, answer another question from Catherine all in one so good.
Minutes left so maybe one last question before we.
yeah, so Sarah is asking. She's planning on taking classes at the Community College during the summer before she attends Davis. How is that going to work?
Oh, planning to take a class in the summer. So summer of 2021, is that right?
Exactly summer 2021 before 2021.
Jackie Nguyen
05:58:25 PM
@Maelani, Summer is not a regular session. It's considered as a special session. For TAG to davis, you have to be enrolled at a CC, Spring, Fall and Spring
Yeah, so as long as all of your required you know units courses are completed by spring 2021 and you plan to take a course in the summer, that's perfectly fine. So we're still going to require any fear admitted. You know, we're still going to require you to submit your your official transcript by July 1st. And if you're still taking classes in the summer, you'll just have to send us another official transcript by September 1st with that final grade for summer.
So that we can include that in your transfer credit.
Yeah, that happens a lot with say. For example, students were trying to finish her. I get see.
Urwah Mir
05:58:52 PM
12 units is full time right?
Jackie Nguyen
05:58:59 PM
@Urwah, yes
Before they come to David's, you know before they can figure, see, so it's perfectly fine to complete your. I get for data specifically, right? It's perfectly fine to complete your I get see by summer, but you know, for other campuses I will double check with them. 'cause because some campuses will use I get see as part of their selection process for admission.
Eyal Mayer
05:59:15 PM
If I graduated high school abroad, do I need to include translated high school transcripts for my application?
And remember that the the requirements to be a middle need to be completed by the end of the spring, so don't count on summer to complete your requirements for admissions.
Right units coursework Yep.
I know that we are kind of, uh, at the edge over here, but I have one last question that I think we should answer before taking up. I think it's important Cameron is asking is there a possibility that the amount of selective majors might decrease due to cover 19 and the smaller amount of transfer applications that might might be submitted?
Jackie Nguyen
06:00:00 PM
@Eyal, you don't have to until you are offer the admission at the UC campus. But it's always good to have an official transcript sealed on hand
Become more selective majors that will be added for fall 2020 22 so we have more that selective majors coming our way again. We will continue to update our websites for knew information that might pertain to how we are going to evaluate and review and all of those things, but that's what we got so far.
Sukhdip Kaur
06:00:13 PM
When do we send AP scores?
You know, and if I can add to that, you know real quick and this is, you know, for the selective majors.
Maelani Gumataotao
06:00:29 PM
@Jackie Thank you!
Jackie Nguyen
06:00:49 PM
@Sukhdip, you don't have to send in any AP scores or transcripts, until you are admitted. sometimes, campuses will ask for an unofficial copy just to verify your entries.
Therefore, requiring your lower division courses as part of the admission requirements is it's because we want you to come in fully prepared to start working on upper division courses. Once you get here, you know if you're missing a lot of lower division courses, especially in those high unit majors. If you notice, you know a lot of our stem majors are selective, including engineering, Biosci Biotech.
Raniah Al Heetawi
06:00:59 PM
Thank you!
Jackie Nguyen
06:01:03 PM
So make sure your entries to UCTAP and UC application is ACCURATE.
Alexandra Diamant
06:01:14 PM
Is TAG binding
Um, now all the math majors and pharmaceutical chemistry physics. You know the reason for requiring those lower division courses as part of your admission is because we want you to be when you come in as a junior that you're truly a junior level standing student. Once you get here and you can jump right into upper division classes.
When you enroll in the fall.
Jackie Nguyen
06:01:27 PM
@Alexandra, Yes. TAG is a contract. it's binding
Jude Farhat
06:01:38 PM
I think you skipped my question, Why does my gpa look higher on my transcript than on my TAP account?
And that's the whole intent of attending Community College. Or sorry, my intent to attending Community College right is for you to complete your all your your first year, second year coursework. And that includes your major prep as well as your G if possible.
Alright, so with that, uhm, you know we we invite you to join us for our future webinars. We have, I believe, another Tappan tag web and are coming up in a couple weeks and then we also have the selective majors. So if you're in any of those elected majors that I mentioned earlier, please be sure to again for that as well.
I also want to, on behalf of the transfer opportunity program. I want to congratulate all of you for uhm.
Jackie Nguyen
06:02:24 PM
@jude, your transcript will include all classes. Some of those classes may not be UC transferrable. So there is a difference in GPA

06:02:49 PM
@miguel i would add everything on the UC app and UCTAP

06:03:25 PM
@miguel, not for transfer students

If one completes Differential Equations for their degree to graduate and transfer, will they be required to take further mathematics courses at the UC level once transferred? Thanks!
Mayra Escobar
06:09:08 PM
@ Allison, it depends on your major. I recommend taking a look at the campus catalog or your major's preparation to see if more math will be required. It is different for all majors
