do you see us or do we just see you?
Kareena, so you'll just see us. And then we'll be able to see your questions in the moderated chat.
Alright, I think we are all set to get started, so thanks again for joining us. It's exciting to see people coming from all over California to join us on this UC Davis admissions and tag 101 webinar. So I'm going to go over some housekeeping after are really quick introductions. My name is Letizia Gray and admissions advisor, so I helped transfer students both through the general admissions route as well as through the transfer admission guarantee or the tag.
And I'm also a UC Davis alarm, so I can definitely answer any questions about campus life as we continue through our web and R if that's something that you have questions on an I have a colleague here with me who will be Co presenting.
01:03:49 PM
hello, moorpark college
Hi everyone, my name is Sara. Looks like there's a little delay there. Hi, my name is Sarah fails and I'm also admissions advisor with Letitia Ann. I also do work with transfer students and I was a transfer student myself so I know the process very well so I'm glad that you're here today and I'm here. I can answer any questions that you have about transfer mission and looking forward to getting started.
So I'm gonna have Letitia do some housekeeping and then we'll go ahead and jump into it.
Awesome, yeah. So we already answered the first question about the web and R and whether it's being recorded. It is being recorded so you can definitely come back to it if you need to refresh on something that we covered and we do have a moderated chat. What that means is if you type it in, we actually have to go in and approve it before it shows up to the general public, so we will try to answer as many questions as we can throughout the presentation, but we will mostly answer.
Well, answer a majority of the questions at the very end so that everybody can really hear what we have to say about that. We also have a closed captioning option for you, so if you click on the box with the CC on the top right hand corner, that will go ahead an basically follow along verbally or in text. What we're saying verbally. Just keep in mind since it is done on like in real life time then it may not be perfect.
We want to make sure that you know that you know we're pretty excited about this web and R and will try to answer as many questions as we can, but we do have a pretty big audience today, so just bear with us as we continue.
Already some moving on to our outline.

Where do we find the recorded video
So today what we're planning on talking about. We're just going to do a basic overview of the general UC Davis admissions, and we're also going to dive into the requirements for what it is, how you can become a student at UC Davis, the general. You see, we're going to go over selection. And then we're also going to go over tag, and that's the main point. Why we're here today to talk about tag and to discuss all or updates that we have with you will also be review, selective or major. What it is the requirements for each one of our majors were going to go over the UC tap. It did get a facelift so will show you.
But that looks like today and then we also have some resources for you too. And then we're going to follow up with some question answers as well. And then as Laticia Mission before you know will answer a few questions as we go. But a majority of those questions will be answered towards the end, so hopefully the questions that you have you know will answer it during the presentation. But we're more than happy to stick around an answer. All of your questions once we finish up.

The recorded video should be emailed to you as a follow up but you can definitely reach out if you don't receive it.

Hello from Woodland Community College
OK, so you see Davis that we have 9 undergraduate uses. An UC Davis is the furthest most North so really close to Sacramento. We are kind of nestled right in between the Sierra Nevada mountains and San Francisco. So whether you like, you know, going to the beach or going to the mountains were nestled right in the middle. And of course you know right next to the state Capitol, so we're well known for, you know, a lot of our majors. We have over 100 different majors or agriculture.
But we're also known for, you know, really being international hub to wear also public University where the 5th best public University in the nation and were also rated one of the most affordable as well. So you see, Davis has a lot going for it outside of its majors. You know a lot of high rankings, and so there's no surprise that we are ranked, and, you know, because of this, you know we have a lot of students that do try to apply, so hopefully this information is going to be great for you to help really guide your students.
And hopefully they can qualify for the tag.
So, so the general UC admission requirements were going to go over this, so just in order to apply to a, you see if we're looking at the GPA and this is going to be true for all nine of our undergrad campus is the minimum you see requirement is a 2.4 GPA to be competitive at UC Davis, we do recommend that students shoot for 2.8 minimum GPA and of course you know the higher the GPA, the more competitive they're going to be in some of our majors. As will discuss later, do have that higher GPA requirement.
If they're planning on doing the tag.
01:08:24 PM

And on tag is just going to the. These are just a lower recommended or the lower lowest GPA recommendations as far as units across the board students in order to transfer. And at the junior level transfer do you need to have 60 semester UC transferable units so that will not include you know any classes that are not transferable. This is just going to be there, you See and along with that GPA that GPA is only going to be those transferable courses and then all you see applicants are expected to have a 7 course pattern. What we usually send to stress the most, it's going to be those.
01:08:59 PM
San Diego Miramar College
You see English. There's two of 'em at a required an, then the UC math. All of those seven course patterns need to be completed before an applicant can arrive on campus, so you know if your regular applicant that is going to be you know the spring before you attend, and then if you're A tag, will go over those requirements. We do require a higher GPA for tag, and then we also require some extra courses to be completed.
01:09:35 PM
May students apply to TAG with 26 semester units?
So selective so as far as the minimum requirements, we just went over and then you see Davis has a selection and generally what this is is it's a requirement slightly above the requirements. Just did you see requirements and what we choose to select at? So as mentioned before, 2.8 is what we recommend is a little bit higher than that 2.4 and then if students are in the College of engineering or the computer science majors, we do have a 3.1 GPA and again this is a non tag.
Leticia Garay
01:09:50 PM
We will be covering TAG in the upcoming slides :)
Kind of minimum requirement in order to enter into those majors. Of course, A7 horse pattern stays the same, but some of our majors we have over 100 different majors and 1/3 of them, so a quarter or not 1/4, but 1/3 of our our majors are selective, and that basically means that those departments have gotten together, and they've determined there are a certain number of classes they want completed before a student can enter into you see.
Elizabeth
01:10:35 PM
Is the public service major a selective major?
And so with the whole application process, you know students when they reply and they need to make sure that they are either taking these classes. These classes are in progress right now for fall, or they are planned for spring. So it's very important when students are preparing to either submit their tag or their UC application that they have. You know all of their courses included from all universities, international, local, everywhere should be on the application so that we can review. And again we want it. We're really going to be looking for making sure their meeting those seven course patterns in units in those course requirements are listed.
Some students I'm just mentioning this a lot of applicants will see students will forget to add that spring plan, but it is unnecessary to. We can determine their meeting those units in that we can determine they are meeting those major requirements.
So now we're going to go into the transformation guarantee or tag program requirements. I know we had a few questions in the chat in regards to that, so you're definitely at the right web and are, but we're going to go into some nitty gritty details here so.
We're going to start off with what a transfer admission guarantee is, so the way I'd like to explain it to students is that the tag is essentially a checklist and the checklist is going to be according to your UC campus an according to the major that you were hoping to apply under for that UC campus. An if you meet everything on that checklist, so to speak. You do have that spot saved in that major, so there's no competitive process meaning that.
As long as you're meeting all that criteria you had that spot guaranteed.
Elizabeth
01:12:25 PM
You said we have to put in our following spring term classes, my school doesn't allow me to sign up for classes for next spring for a few more months, what should I do?
Well, that sounds great, right? There are a few limitations, and so that's why we have to go through it. All the stipulations here, but essentially the tag is limited to six out of the nine DC campuses and the six campuses that offer tag will be Davis, UC Irvine, UC Merced, UC Riverside, UC Santa Barbara Ann you CC anecdotes and like I mentioned, the tag will be based off of individual campuses and individual majors, so there will be.
Different criteria for each campus in different majors, so that's something very important to pay attention to.
Additionally, because it is a guarantee, we can only give you 1 tag, so make sure you are doing some research as to which major in which campus you are eligible for, because if you aren't meeting the tag requirements for Davis, for example, you may still be able to get that guarantee with one of the other five campuses that offer it.
We are very proud of the fact though, that Davis. We are the only UC campus to evaluate an release early tag decisions.
Sarah Fales
01:13:09 PM
You will need to include your spring 2021 plan. You have the ability to update your actual spring plan in January.
So what that means is that in mid November we will let you know whether or not you have a guarantee with us, and that will allow you to know upfront even before the UC application deadline closes. So you already kind of know that you know you have Davis kind of safeguard is, so to speak. If you haven't approved tag.
Hafsa
01:13:42 PM
Can I TAG to one college while also applying to others?
And Lastly, for our campus specifically, we are open to all of our major. So whether it's engineering and computer science, which are some of the more selective or more competitive majors to get into? Or you go into a political science or arts and Humanities or even social Sciences, all those areas will be open and available to students, so you do want to pay attention to your particular major though.
Sarah Fales
01:13:55 PM
Can I TAG to one college while also applying to others?
We wanted to cover what the tag application time might look like for students, and we try to simplify it by kind of next steps and so for our tag, the first thing that students should do is create that easy transfer admission planner or the UC tap. And yes, we do like our acronyms, so it's very important to pay attention to that P at the end or that Jeep, but essentially the planner is an online tool.
Sarah Fales
01:14:31 PM
Yes, student can apply to TAG at one campus and apply to other campuses. You do not have to attend the school you TAG to.
All the UC campuses, even the ones that don't do tag, can use and access the planner to help advise you. So if you have questions you can call individual user campuses and talk to an advisor about how to increase their likelihood of your admissions or to just go over and see what criteria you're missing and kind of make changes based off of that. However, it's also very beneficial to have the planner if you are looking to submit a transfer admission guarantee or tag because it will become the tag application once September rolls around.
And even if you aren't looking to submit the tag, that's planner will transfer its information to the UC admissions planner, so you don't have to do twice as much work, so to speak, so it is beneficial for several presents.
Betros
01:15:39 PM
Do you still need to fill UC APPLICATION if your accepted with tag
Moving on to the tag so tag is open this month. Actually open today so you have the entire month of September. So this whole month to work on an submit the UC tag to one of those six campuses. And so there are no personal insight questions or essays included in the tag is purely by your academic history and there is no application fees, so it does not hurt to submit A tag. If you think you are eligible for one of the tag programs.
And then the third part is submitting the UC application in November. So from November 1st through November 30th and yes, the UC application is open, it open the last month. So that just means that students can work on it to put in courses and work on their personal insight questions which are required on this application. But you can actually submit that application or hit that submit button until the month of November. And like I said there are peak use. There are personal insight questions or.
Sarah Fales
01:16:15 PM
YES. The UC application is required for all TAG and non-TAG applicants. The UC application is due the end of November
It says an there are and whether is an application fee based off the number of campuses that you applied to. The UC application is open to all nine campuses so the three campuses that don't offer tag will be on the UC application. And yes, the common question is if I submit my tag, do I also need to submit the UC application? And yes you do. It's a two part process. I like to say for tag you need to submit the planner.
01:16:50 PM
are letter of recommendations required for the UC App?
So you have two different deadlines. You have two different websites and two applications, so to speak. For the tag process in the tag application to be fully reviewed and considered.
So honing in on the UC Davis tag requirements so we broke it up by different categories. We have the GPA requirement. We have unit requirement. We have horses, an involvement and so later on will compare what that looks like. You know selection versus tag but essentially for tag we are going to have an overall GPA which is going to be a 3.2 overall. You see transferable GPA for.
Sarah Fales
01:17:34 PM
We do not accept letters of recommendations.
All not for all majors in our College of Biological Sciences, College of Agriculture and environmental Sciences and College of letters and science. With the exception of computer science. So as you can see, there is a new update to the overall GPA for our College of engineering majors and our computer science specifically, and that has been changed to a 3.5 overall GPA, so overall can include.
01:18:02 PM
When does the tap app stop uploading to the UC app is it November1?
General education courses. In addition to major preparation courses, so it is a combination of everything that is UC transferable or everything that is on the system board. Moving on to the units. So there are three parts to this unit requirement. The first one is the 60 semester unit requirement to be completed by the end of spring of 2021.
And this requirement is very much the same as the one that we saw earlier for general admissions. That doesn't change. However, we do need at least 30 of those units completed by the end of summer of 2020, so I know there was a question in the chat about that. So because it is a guarantee that is going to be a pretty cut and dry requirement, you do need to have that 30 units met by the end of summer of 2020 for fall of 2021 applicants.
Sarah Fales
01:19:00 PM
You should have your TAP fully updated before you transfer the information to the UC application. You can import your information thru the end of November.
And you can use AP and IB exam scores are passing to meet that.
The second part of that unit requirement is going to be that at least 30 of your 60 units need to come directly from a California Community College. So 30 of those units cannot include AP and IB, but you can use general education, for example, to meet that unit requirement. So essentially comes down to you need to have at least a year's worth of full time enrollment at a Community College to be meeting this 30 unit requirement.
Kerry
01:19:53 PM
The (engineering) TAG GPA requirement recently increased from 3.30 to 3.50 ... I thought it was only going to increase to a 3.40 ... Now I cannot TAG ... How do I go about sending a letter to the Dean? Do you have any advice?
For the courses so we do have that 7 course pattern very much like general admissions, but the exception to see here is that we do require the English composition and the math requirement, so the two UCE and the one you see em requirements to be completed by the end of fall of 2020. So this semester is the last semester to finish those course requirements on the rest of the seven course pattern can be completed by the end of spring of 2021.
And Lastly, that enrollment piece, so we do require that students remain at a California Community College for the last three semesters. Because this program is for California community colleges, we have to be very strict and very straightforward about that definition, so.
Sarah Fales
01:20:31 PM
The Engineering requirements did increase to 3.5 for TAG. TAG is not required for admission. The GPA for non-TAG remains 3.10 for Engineering majors.
If you were enrolled in at a California Community College this last spring of 2020 semester an are continuing through the academic year. The end of spring of 2021, then you would be meeting that requirement and there is the full time enrollment requirement. In addition to that. So in those last three semesters, students are required to be full time status, so 12 semester units or higher. We do see that some students drop below the 12 unit requirement, so we.
Can provide some exceptions, but it is on the case by case basis and students should provide an explanation in their tag application.
Thanks for that part. Time status so very very important to keep in mind it's not this is the only part of the tag that is flexible for students.
01:21:20 PM
In years past we've used AP scores/units to meet the 30 required. Has that changed?
So in comparing the music Davis selection requirements to our tag requirements, so again selection is going to be kind of that baseline with in terms of requirements that UC Davis looks at to admit any student through the general admissions process tag is going to be our higher requirements, but you know, there is no competitive process with that. So if you meet those requirements, you have that guarantee.
Sarah Fales
01:21:58 PM
You can use AP/IB to meet the initial 30 unit requirement thru summer 2020.
So we see that for the tag application, selection obviously doesn't have that. All you have to do is submit that you see application by November 30th of this year for tag, we do require the application this month in September by September 30th through the planner and the UC application by November 30th.
In terms of units, both selection and tag require a minimum of 60 semester units to be completed by the end of spring of 2021. But again, tag will have that breakdown of 30 units by the end of summer and then at least 30 units to be completed with Community College work only.
Then we have that the you see Ian and requirements for selection. You have until the end of spring of 2021 for tag you have until the end of fall 2020.
And then the overall GPA. So this is one of the biggest differences you'll see. We have the overall GPA for most of our majors, and selection will be 2.8, three .1 for engineering and computer science, whereas for tag it will be 3.2 with that 3.5 in engineering and computer science.
Sarah Fales
01:23:02 PM
AP/IB can also be used to meet some admission/course requirements.
Sarah Fales
01:23:04 PM
https://local-resources.ucdavis.edu/local_resources/docs/APIBCharts/APCurrent.pdf
Charlene
01:23:25 PM
is the TAG requirement for bio majors still 3.2?
And then selected major requirements. So this is the one thing that is very streamlined across both processes and that is that our course or major course requirements and GPA for selective majors are the same for selection and tag and they are all due no later than the end of spring of 2021. So if you are selected major, there's really no way around those major course requirements and GPA.
Make sure that you are paying attention to those for either process for Davids and Lastly that enrollment piece. It's not a requirement to be enrolled at any specific institution for a certain amount of units through this election or general admissions process, but there is a requirement for tag.
Sarah Fales
01:23:51 PM
Yes, the biological sciences majors remains 3.2. We will go over all majors in detail shortly
01:24:15 PM
What about student with disabilities who have reduced workload ? Do they need to be full time as well?
So yes, a lot of information and I know that will probably have some questions on it later, so if you don't get it right now, that's completely fine. It took me awhile to learn it myself, and this is my job, but moving on to the tag requirement timeline, so we went ahead and gave you the first time line, which is like kind of what to do to prepare for applying. This is a timeline that breaks down what you should meet in terms of horses or GPA in addition to some application timelines.
Sarah Fales
01:24:54 PM
All students have the ability to explain part time status. We will evaluate by a case by case basis.
Embedded in here. So if you're a student, this is a pretty good guy to know where you should be at according to the end of particular months or a semester, for example. So very quickly going over this so we do have that 3.2 and that 3.5 overall GPA for tag, and that 30 semester units to be completed, and that should have been done already with your summer work. OK, so the important thing with tag is that your GPS needs to be maintained.
So Matt and maintained at the time of application.
We are in September so tag is open. An writing for mission, so students should be working on updating and really finalizing their UC planner so that they can go ahead and submit it into the official tag application. And like Sara said, very very important to include a tentative spring of 2021 schedule.
November UC application is ready for submission, so the one tidbit we have here is if you are applying to UC Davis is tag program you should wait until November 15th and on November 15th we will submit tag decisions and that will allow you to see if your tag has been approved. If everything has been approved then you can go ahead and submit your UC application as early as November 15th and you should be good to go. There should be.
Ahmed
01:26:10 PM
Hello, I am from Cerritos College. My major is Computer Science and I have completed 54 units so when I will have 60 units can I start applying to UC Davis or do I have to complete my associate's degree?
You know, no issue there. If you see that your tag was denied, then we recommend you going over at reading the the reasons for why it was denied and you can even contact our office to go over it and really pinpoint what it is that you kind of could fix on your UC application to make you a more competitive applicant for the UC general admissions process through the application.
Once you've submitted that you see application, though, I'm kind of you know, you just gonna go ahead and finish the rest of your semester an you should be finishing up that you see Y or an. You see em requirements by the end of your fall term and then in January you'll update us with your fall grades and your final spring schedule. So we do. We will send you an email to update you on that with the link and also remind you to do that. So you want to make sure you're doing that in the month of January. Do you have?
Your application be reviewed with the most accurate information.
Sarah Fales
01:26:59 PM
Students must have 60 semester/90 quarter units by the end of the spring term to meet admission requirements.
Anthony
01:26:59 PM
what would be a requirment GPA for a neuroscience major?
And then as we progressed into the springtime, we reached the really exciting part of admissions, where final and official admission decisions are released. And so you have all of the uses will release in the month of April, some earlier, some a little later. So give us a little bit of time as we're going ahead and finalizing that. And then you have until June 1st to submit that statement of attempt to register, or the Sir to let your campus of choice know that you will be attending.
Hafsa
01:27:29 PM
Is there a psychology GPA requirement?
And around this time you should be getting ready to order some official documents, or at least know how to do that so that you can meet our July deadline for official documentation. And Lastly, the spring of 2021 semester you should have your unit requirements done and then you should also have your major preparation course requirements. Then if you're a selective major. So the nice thing about having in their proof tag is that we will tell you everything you need to do.
So that you can keep that guarantee so there are no surprises for you at the end that.
Sarah Fales
01:28:05 PM
The Psychology course group requirement is 2.9. The TAG overall GPA requirement is 3.2. We will review this shortly.
Alright, so moving on to UC Davis tag updates. So for the fall of 2021 we did already covered this, but just as a reminder the overall tide GPA for engineering and computer science did change, so that is not something that you might you know. I think if you went to the website and you were like this wasn't there before, you're right it wasn't so this is a new change for tag. It's only for tag, not general admissions.
And then for fall of 2022 applicants, there are new selective majors. So we have three new math majors that are becoming selective and will be joining our general math major that is already selected. The good thing about this is that all those major preparation course requirements will be the same and will go ahead and go over that more in depth later, and then in addition to those changes in fall of 2022, we will also be changing the major prep GPA.
For tag applicants, again, tag applicants and engineering computer science, so we went ahead and added this chart so you can kind of see a compare and contrast between the years and it between the two different GPS and engineering and computer science. So hopefully that should help clarify a little bit. I keep saying tag 'cause it's very important this changes for tag applicants and so general admission applicants should follow what we have on our website and know that they should still be aiming for that overall 3.1 GPA and then that 3.2.
GPA in the selective major criteria.
Devon Bohart
01:29:48 PM
Hi Anthony, I am a UC Davis Admissions Advisor. Our neurobiology, physiology and behavior major falls under our College of Biological Sciences so applicants must meet the selective major requirements, including completion of math, chemistry and biology courses all of which are listed on our website: https://www.ucdavis.edu/admissions/transfer/major-requirements-college-biological-sciences
Ahmed
01:30:05 PM
Do I have to complete all the major coursework in order to transfer to UC Davis?
Alright, so we're going to go ahead and talk about the selected majors an as I mentioned before, the selected major is really important that a selected major does not mean that any major is impacted. All it means is that.
Literally a third of our majors are faculty got together and said, You know, before our students transfer over, we want them to have this major coursework completed and they also want them to have it completed at a certain level. So that is kind of what selection major means. It doesn't mean that it's too full or too impacted it. All it means is that there is a set number or set.
Leticia Garay
01:30:54 PM
If your major is selective, your required major preparation courses should be completed by Spring 2021 to be considered for admissions.
Period of or a set group of classes. I should say that are required for students to have completed by the end of spring before they transfer, so we're going to go ahead and kind of dive into what those are. So just a little recap about UC Davis I mentioned before. We have over 100 different majors in a third of them are selective majors. We have four different colleges, so we have the College of Biological Sciences. We have a College of engineering. We have the College of Agriculture, Environmental Sciences and in the College of letters and science is. So what I'm going to do right now is I'm going to go through these four different.
Karla
01:31:28 PM
I am pursuing a major in Animal Science at UC Davis and will have all courses required for transfer by the end of Fall 2020. I will not be enrolled the upcoming Spring 2021 semester. Will this enrollment status make me ineligible for TAG?
College is an in the major requirements and this is going to be these major requirements. I'm going to go over. They are required regardless. If you were going to enter into A tag major or you're going to enter into a just like a regular, you see applicant and you're not going to tag sewn on tag the same requirements, the same group of GPA. So if you're tagged on tag, you should be following the same guidelines. OK, alright, so called the Biological Sciences. On the left you'll see all of their different majors that we have every single major we have.
Elizabeth
01:31:45 PM
Can I use TAG for any major?
Are selective so you can go on to assist an you can actually see you know all the different classes. Actually I would advise you to go to our website and you can click on each major. You can see every single class that is available. You can also look on assist to see what those classes articulate to at your Community College. But any of these majors, the minimum requirements are we have a three group so you have your math requirement which needs to be completed with a 2.5 GPA and these are UC Davis courses. So to find the equivalency you would need to go to assist and look up the map.
Devon Bohart
01:32:13 PM
Yes, you can TAG in any major at UC Davis
Leticia Garay
01:32:37 PM
Please enroll at least as part-time in Spring 2021. We are more flexible for part-time status vs no enrollment. If you are hoping to do a minor, you can take some of the pre-requistes in Spring 2021.
For these are going to be this math group is a calculus series, then the chemistry is a general chemistry series. You need to have a 2.5 group GPA and then the biological science series is a 2.5 GPA, so this hasn't changed from last year but just important to note, do look an assist to find these course equivalencies and then if you only have one course completed in one of these groups at the time, you do need to be meeting that 2.5 GPA at the time of.
Karina
01:32:55 PM
is admissions going to look at things different because covid?
Karina
01:32:56 PM
for example online learning is more difficult for some students
That we've reviewed your application, so if you only have one class completed, it couldn't be a see because your overall GPA at that point in time would be as a 2.0 if that makes sense. So you would need to have a B or higher so just know a 2.5 every single time we look at your evaluation. So if your tag we look at it a little bit early, we're going to be looking at it in October, September, October. And if you're a non tag you know will be reviewing it after your fall grades.
Woo Hyun
01:33:30 PM
my major is math. I want to take computer science as minor. What do I need for that?
OK College of engineering the College of engineering also all majors are also all selective. So this group has. This group is really important. I'm going to advise everybody to go to our website or UC Davis website and you can click on all of each individual major an you will be able to see all of the requirements for each for each major. What you're going to need to do for each major is you're going to need to go into a cistern assist is going to have the most up to date information or website will have the most up to date information with our course numbers.
Leticia Garay
01:34:11 PM
The admissions timeline is not changing however, campus does look different due to COVID. We have updates on what's going on due to COVID here: https://www.ucdavis.edu/coronavirus/
And assist will have the most up to date information you're going to want to sort by, not the major, but by the course is the subject. So for example, chemistry chemistry to a what is that? Well, it's going to be a general chemistry class, and that is a requirement for all all of our engineering majors, so this block that we have on this slide is the minimum requirements for all of our engineering majors and then each individual major. Since there really are a lot of classes for engineering as a whole and a lot of those classes need to be.
Geanne Christin
01:34:25 PM
Maybe I missed something, but I didn't see any option for any kind of Education majors.
You know completed before transfer, so it's really important. I know I'm spending a lot of time this slide, but it's really important to, you know. Go to our website. Make sure you're looking at that most up-to-date classes need for that major and then go to assist and look up each each individual ones look up your chemistry. Look up your math, you know. Look up your physics and any other like engineering courses. Whatever you might be required to take and look at the see what the equivalencies are for that whole group for whatever your major is, it's going to be 3.2 combined GPA OK, and that's again for the tag non tags that were just talking about the.
Selective major requirements.
Devon Bohart
01:34:49 PM
Hi Woo. For transfer prep, you need to meet the selective major requirements for your major. Any minor you plan to have will not factor into admission. You will work with advisors once you are enrolled to learn about the courses you need for a potential minor.
Leticia Garay
01:35:15 PM
The majors we are highlighting here are selective majors meaning that major prep is required. For a list of all our majors, look here: https://www.ucdavis.edu/majors
Linh
01:35:27 PM
what would be a requirement GPA for Human Development major?
01:35:30 PM
If your school doesn't have the course articulated, are we hold accountable for those selective courses?
Sorry about that. Can you hear me? OK, so we're going to talk about the College of biological or sorry, the College of Agriculture Environmental Sciences. So for this group right here we do have a chemistry Series A mass series and a biological series. So this is just for the major of biotechnology. So for the College of Agriculture, Environmental Science is not all majors are selective. There's only a select few, and so we're going to go ahead and go through what some of these are. So the biotechnology.
And again same requirement if you only have one map course completed in this group, it needs to be a B or higher to meet that 2.5 GPA.
Alright, so if you're interested in making some wine or studying the process, we do have an excellent major at UC Davis, so this is the group of course is required for this major. In it is a 3.0 GPA for the whole combined, so it's a whole entire group. We must come together. It's a 3.0 GPA requirement for this major.
Devon Bohart
01:36:22 PM
Hi Linh. Human development has no additional requirements for admission, so you need an overall 3.2 minimum GPA to be eligible for TAG.
Leticia Garay
01:36:26 PM
Courses that are listed as not offered or articulated per Assist will not be required for students coming from that community college.
For our managerial economics, this is knew this year and we did give warning you about two years ago. This is going to become selective. Well here we are. We're selective now. So for this whole entire group of classes at the 2.5 GPA for the whole entire combined. So again, you're looking at your calculus if you can see the math. Mass 16 tends to be like a lower level math class at at Davis. Then we have mass 17, which is kind of middle and the math 21 is a higher level. You know, it articulates completely different at every single.
Can you call us? We just make sure you're looking at it just to see which one you need, but you can really take either series if you have multiple series offered at the college, you know you can pick and choose for this major. You do need to do both of your macro and micro economics than statistics.
And then of course we have our College of letters and science, applied physics and regular physics. So those are two different majors, applied physics and physics. It is a 3.0 GPA for all of these combined courses as well. I'm going to take a break and let you hear Letizia's lovely voice for a second for the rest of these majors.
Thanks, Sarah. I think at the end of this will be tired of both of our voices, but at least we're switching it up a little bit, so hopefully we're not keeping to board. And we understand that it's a lot of information, but I do like I do want to reiterate that the majors we are mentioning and going into depth right now are the selective majors on our campus. So these are the major that will require major preparation to be completed by the end of spring of 2021.
01:37:51 PM
can the powerpoint (slides) be shared after?
Devon Bohart
01:37:51 PM
We are receiving many questions about specific major requirements. I would encourage you to explore our website to see the complete list of selective majors. If a major is NOT listed on this page, it is not selective.
Devon Bohart
01:37:53 PM
https://www.ucdavis.edu/admissions/undergraduate/transfer/selective-major-requirements/
01:38:04 PM
Not tired of your voices. This is a wealth of valuable information.
In order to be considered for admissions to UC Davis, so it's not a full exhaustive list of all of our majors on campus. We do have our website that will have all our 100 plus majors available to students, but these are the ones that will we will be looking for in terms of course, requirements. So you do want to pay attention that if you see your major here, that that means you need to be looking at these course equivalencies through assist.org.
Sarah Fales
01:38:28 PM
Yes, this presentation will be recorded and available to you after today.

01:38:29 PM
Is psychology a selective major?
Devon Bohart
01:38:42 PM
Yes, psychology is a selective major https://www.ucdavis.edu/admissions/transfer/major-requirements-college-letters-sciences#psych
And we could definitely help with that process too. Will go over the resources at the very end as to kind of how to get started. If this is still a little confusing and overwhelming for you to figure out, but moving on to computer science, one of our more popular majors, so computer science actually has two GPS for their major, so they require a 3.4 in our calculus series, so we see it's specific to our math 21 series, which is our highest level calculus, and then we have.
A 3.4 GPA between all the computer signs of engineering courses are listed here.
Charlene
01:38:56 PM
so for bio majors, we dont need to complete all the math and chem courses for tag and we just need to hit the 2.50 minimum?
Elizabeth
01:39:09 PM
Is the public service major a selective major?
You can see that there is a stipulation in that the course numbering has changed over the last three academic years. To just make sure that if you're looking on the cyst that these are that you're looking at the new numbers that are listed in that grayish box, and then we just wanted to point out again that this 3.4 in each subject area will be changing to a 3.5 in each subject area starting fall of 2022.
Very very important change for tag applicants.
Devon Bohart
01:39:40 PM
The public service track is under political science, which is not a selective major.
Moving on to another very popular major on our campus economics, so economics did become selective this year. It's knew this year force for selective major criteria. And so we are looking at one GPA combined with all these courses. Very much like physics, there are three different calculus series that students can choose from everything from our more level intro level calculus or short calculus, which is our 16 series.
Sarah Fales
01:40:22 PM
For biological science majors, you need to meet the 2.5 GPA in the selective major required. https://www.ucdavis.edu/admissions/undergraduate/transfer/selective-major-requirements
Storm hire more advanced level, which is that math 21 series. Either way, students should complete the entire series of calculus, whether it's 16 or 21 and then students are also required to complete Economics 1A, an economics one. Be with a 2.5 GPA. It looks very very similar to our managerial economics major course requirements and it is very very similar. However, there are few differences to note.
01:40:39 PM
What type of accommodations do you make for a rural community college that do not offer all the required lower division courses?
One is that in our economics, major statistics or math 13 is not required and will not be included in that 2.5 GPA calculation. And another thing is that calculus the entire calculus series is required for economics, whereas in managerial economics it only goes until A&B so that C portion in our calculus series is not required for manager economics. So just make sure.
For most of the semester schools, you'll see that because you're on the semester system, if you take 2 calculus courses or your entire calculus series, that should equal to our entire calculus series. But you do want to make sure you are paying attention to that course equivalency.
Sarah Fales
01:41:35 PM
Colleges that do not offer any articulated courses : students will not be held liable to complete any courses that are not offered at their community college. Courses not offered for over a year or not at all are waived.
And then another thing to note For Economics was that we actually drop drop the overall GPA for, well, not the overall GPA. The GPA for the major itself, so it was previously advertised. The economics required a 3.0 and these courses that are on the screen. However, it is actually a 2.5 in these courses now, so kind of some good news there. For our economics majors.
Our math major here, so our math major is selective and this is our general math. As we mentioned earlier in fall of 2022, we do have three more specific math majors that are going to become selective and mimic the requirements that you see on the screen. But essentially, math major requires math courses. No, no surprises there. We will require the 21 series up until 21 D.
And then we will ask for math 22B, which is, I believe, differential equations and math 21 or sorry match 22A or math 67, both of which are linear algebra, is just different levels of linear algebra, so essentially the entire calculus series, differential equations and linear algebra will be required with a 3.0 GPA in our math majors for this year.
Sarah Fales
01:42:47 PM
You can find all of our selective majors with the link below. Remember, we have over 100 majors and only 1/3 have required coursework before transfer. https://www.ucdavis.edu/admissions/undergraduate/transfer/selective-major-requirements
01:43:13 PM
If a series of courses, such as Math for Biology, needs a 2.5 GPA, if the college offers C+ and B-, does UC Davis honor the 2.7 from a B- average?
Pharmaceutical chemistry is another selective major in the College of letters and science, and we see that again, students have the option of selecting which calculus series they'd like to complete in addition to general chemistry, so that chemistry to AB&C we have two different versions are general chemistry and then our honors version of that, and we will also require organic chemistry, and there are actually three different versions of organic chemistry that students can complete.
In pharmaceutical chemistry, the student only has to choose one, so you know between calculus, general chemistry and organic chemistry. Those courses will need to add up to a minimum of a 3.0 GPA.
Devon Bohart
01:43:33 PM
It is important to note the difference between overall GPA (minimum 3.2 for TAG, or 3.5 for Engineering and Compiuter Science) and series GPA, which is only for specific courses.
Linh
01:43:53 PM
Do you require volunteer hours or something like that?
And Lastly, another very very popular major on campus. One that I already saw question for our psychology major are psychology major is I like to say one more complicated. We just to understand even though it doesn't have that many courses and it's because there are a few different. Well, there's two different options in completing the course requirements. The first option is.
Sarah Fales
01:44:28 PM
If your college has +/- grades, you will still need to meet a 2.5 GPA. If your GPA is a 2.7 in a required course group with a 2.5 GPA ....that meets the requirement
That students complete a total of three courses, compromising of psychology, one statistics 13 and Biology 2A with a 2.9 GPA, whereas option two has a total of four courses and this is where it gets a little tricky. So psychology one statistics 13, which are the same as the first option. But then students can choose either biology 10. Will they have to choose biology 10 in addition to options?
Of anthropology one microbiology 10 or N PB10 with those options to student needs to have 4 total so psychology once to 613. Biology 10 and then the option of those three courses with a 2.9 GPA. The second option is usually the most popular one for our psychology majors, but what I tell students is if you don't know which one you should choose. Option one tends to be geared towards students who are hoping to do that. Bachelor of Science in psychology whereas.
Devon Bohart
01:45:15 PM
We do not require volunteer hours. The UC application offers many opportunities to demonstrate your extracurricular involvement, which may include community service. However, for transfer applicants, your academic history and major prep will be the most important aspect of your application.
And two is geared more towards students who are going into The Bachelor of Arts, but either one will be accepted for admission. So just pay attention and you know if you want to complete three courses, whereas you want to complete for courses that will be kind of the main difference for psychology.
Already we made it through selective majors and so now we're kind of nearing the end of our presentation that we're going to be covering some resources that are available for you to use.
OK, so one of the main resources that's really important is the UC tap. This is a resource that we use with students, Community College counselors. It is a tool for advising it is a tracker for students to input all of their courses. They can meet with advisors at their Community College or at UC Davis, and then they can also import all of their classes from the UC tap into the UC application.
Karina
01:46:18 PM
does assist have all this info
And probably most importantly, the UC tap for those students who do qualify for A tag. It does serve as their UC Davis tag application and in September, so it just opened up today. So I'm going to go ahead and try to show you this is a link right here. You don't need to memorize it. This right here is specifically the link for counselors that you see. Tap has a link for. Counselors also has a link for students. You can easily just go into a Internet search and just search UC tap.
CIP or you see planner and then attack will pop up. So there's a link for Community College counselors and there's a link for students on this slide. You could see this as a counselor page, and counselors can log in and they would be able to see his students. You know, tap and then they can also evaluate. You know, once students submit, their tags will be able to evaluate and just below. If you are accusing college student, there's a link right there. If you happen to jump onto the counselor webpage on accident.
Leticia Garay
01:47:31 PM
Assist will have the most updated course equivalencies but it will not have the major requirements. We recommend looking at our website for our selective major requirements: https://www.ucdavis.edu/admissions/undergraduate/transfer/selective-major-requirements
We did give the tap a facelift. It looks very similar to the what the UC application looks like now. We did a remodel of the UC application last year so if anyone is familiar with the old application we do have a new facelift. So now that app and the UC application do mimic each other which is very nice. So it's really important again to make sure that you are updating your tap at all times. If you are applying this year your you see tap you know should be all updated.
You know, if you're planning on submitting A tag and now you are deciding you're you're not going to submit A tag or you don't qualify anymore, this tap is can still be imported into your UC application. So very, very important. All you have to do the UC application is open right now, so you can start. You can start working on that. They'll be a area in the UC application that will ask for your tap login in your tap.
You are tap sorry password and you'll input that and then I'll import everything over into the UC application. I strongly recommend you have everything in line on the top side so that when it imports you don't have to be like adding classes, so make sure you have that spring plan and I know there's a question I answered earlier. I'm just going to like touch base on it again 'cause we do get this question a lot. My college, you know, doesn't allow us to enroll in spring classes. I can't give you an update. Well, we know that you know none of the classes are going to be open for spring.
You know enrollment yet. So what we're asking for is your plan and why we're asking for a plan versus like what your actual enrolled classes are is we want to see that like do you know you have selected major classes? And do you have a plan to complete those? Do you know that you have to have the 60 semester 90 quarter unit requirement by the end of the spring term? And do you have a plan to do so? So that's what we're looking at in order to a fully evaluate an application when we do the valuation process. We do it in the beginning of the year. Once you've submitted that that update for.
All of your fall grades, so we need all that information in order to make you know a informed decision on whether you're going to be eligible. So if everyone, if we wait until everyone up together, you know, do their spring, you know if we waited to do the very end, you know no one would be getting notices for months on end. So just know it's really, really important. Make sure your tap is all up to date with that spring plan an let's just know that you will get a notice in November. Everybody, whether you're A tag applicator, just the regular UC application, once you set your tag.
You're done with it. You don't need to touch it again. All of your updates will now go through UC application, so the UC application again. You'll get that update in in the middle of sorry. The middle of usually comes out in December January and you should submit your update in January and that's your opportunity to update what your actual spring plan is. OK, alright time for some resources.
Awesome, so we touched on a few resources as we've been continuing through the presentation, but essentially your first go to resource should be our tag website for all things tag, and you can also access our selective major criteria through the tag website. That's actually how I do it myself, just 'cause it's easier than trying to go through the general admissions webpage and then also we have counselor resources available on this website in addition to your UC Davis tag contact.
So what is a UC Davis had contact? Yes, it's very much like what the name says, but it's essentially your UC Davis representative that is assigned to your Community College and you can contact them and regrets to any questions you have about the tag process or even your tag application. So I know I just saw a question here about, you know, listing being concerned about engineering increasing and how that impacts the tag, right? So you know the tag criteria is pretty much set in stone, so you won't be able to change that.
Kerry
01:51:10 PM
Who can you put me in contact with to answer my question? Any advice will be helpful. My question: The GPA increased from 3.3 to 3.5 (engineering). I worked very hard to get to a 3.4 GPA and was planning on doing the TAG TODAY. How can I fight this change as everyones grades have suffered with COVID-19?
Devon Bohart
01:51:22 PM
TAG Counselor Contacts: https://tag.ucdavis.edu/contacts.cfm
But at least for this particular student, what I did want to say was that for tagged the reason why it went up is, you know it's up to our faculty on campus. But The thing is that that will actually allow more students to be admitted through the general admissions process, because what was happening in years past was.
Karina
01:51:45 PM
how do we see how one of the courses from the selective major course requirements is offered at our school like how do we look up that equivalence??
That we were all filling up for the very very popular majors with students meeting that I criteria, and so we wouldn't be able to offer more admissions later on. So even though it's a little disheartening to see that you're no longer having that guarantee, you should know that if you have a GPA like that 3.4 that you mentioned, you actually are in very, very good shape to be admitted through the general admissions process. So I do want to reassure you on that, and that you may not have the guarantee, but for general missions, if you are surpassing what?
Devon Bohart
01:52:08 PM
Assist.org shows transferable courses AND equivalent courses
Sarah Fales
01:52:22 PM
If you are a community college student, you can look up course articulations on: https://assist.org/
Tag with previous listing for your major. You should be in really good shape for general admissions, but going back to the resources, your tag contact will be able to help you if you have additional questions in regards to your specific situation or you know questions about the tag process of VR and starting it this month and today actually and then we do have our UC Davis admissions website that will have our general admissions with information that we covered earlier.
Anthony
01:52:41 PM
will the cognitive science major BS be with the biology of science college?
In addition to some more campus related information, can also find what our campuses doing in regards to Covid and even see changes as to how.
Covid grades are covered. Related grades are being taken into consideration for admissions purposes.
Alright, so we do have a few upcoming webinars so we are finished with part one that is open for our counselors in students and now we are getting ready for parts who happening next week for our counselors and this will go over basically how to review the tag with the online tools that are available as well as some common evaluation questions or things that you see when you're reviewing student profiles and student taps and planners.
Sarah Fales
01:53:28 PM
The cognitive science is part of the college of letters and science and is not selective.
Kerry
01:53:35 PM
Oh, okay, thank you so much!
In addition to that, I do want to mention that we are going to be having a another webinar tonight about engineering specifically, so if you thought you know you still have some questions for engineering and you're interested in tag for engineering, we will be covering the requirements more in depth for each individual engineering major and we are also going to be having a representative from the College of engineering talk about what resources are available on campus.
For our engineering specifically, so that is happening today at 4:00 PM, so feel free to join. I can go ahead and put the link on in the chat down there, but we also will be having continuous webinars throughout the fall semester, so if you go on our admissions events page you should see everything related to other majors and more general admission information for all of our students, including counselors too.
So with that, that concludes our presentation and so will be going over the questions that we have in in the chat will be answering them verbally as well as.
Karina
01:54:50 PM
how can u look up a specific course though
Typing him out if you can. So Devin is helping us out with the chat there, but I'll go ahead and answer the first question here and that is how can you look up a specific course. So an assist you? Do you want to select your Community College as well as UC Davis? And then you would look up by Department. So if you are a psychology major looking to see what psychology one is equal to at your community.
College you will pull up a sister or you would select your Community College. So let's say that's Sierra College and then you would select UC Davis. It will load up the most current you're available and then it will go ahead under Department and look up psychology and you'll see all the courses listed under psychology. You'll look for psychology one underneath the UC Davis column and then it will tell you what course is equivalent to that.
Devon Bohart

Karina
01:55:48 PM
assist psych major does not show the requirements though
At your Community College and so that's kind of a quick rundown of how assist works in regards to looking up the course requirements. And yes, I know that you cannot look up the major requirements on assist, which is why you need to look up individual departments. So going back to the example I gave earlier, psychology also requires statistics. So you would look it up the same way, but instead of looking at psychology for the Department.
Devon Bohart
01:56:11 PM

Karina
01:56:16 PM
my question is on uc davis selective mjaor page under psychology it says I need to do Bio 2A, assist does not show this though. How can I find out how that transfers over to my city college
You want to look up statistics as the Department and that will give you the individual statistic course that you need for your major. So that's why it's very, very important to look at the UC Davis tag website to look at those tag requirements and course using database course numbers and then pull up assist so that you can translate, so to speak with those course numbers are listed at under your Community College.
Charlene
01:56:41 PM
is it okay to switch to a similar major after we've enrolled to davis?
Sorry, second question is, is it OK to switch to a similar major afterward? Even rolled to UC Davis, so we do allow students to change majors once they're on campus. You do have to wait until after your first quarter is done so the soonest you can petition to change for your major is winter of 2020.
01:57:16 PM
Thank you so very much! It was very informayive and well presented.
Oh my goodness, I've blanked out on the years here thinking ahead of time for winter of 2022 for fall of 2021 applicants. And so you do have to wait a quarter 'cause we do need to make sure you're in good academic standing and each individual.
01:57:35 PM
Will you please put the registration link in the chat for the counselor edition training?
Sarah Fales

Major will have will either have or not have a particular prerequisites that you need to fulfill in order to be accepted into the major. So if you are hoping to change your major ones around campus now that you'll have to talk to that new major advisor to see what is required of you to change into that major. And then you also want to ask to see how competitive that processes because it may be more difficult to change into certain majors. For example, I know that in the College of Engineering is more difficult to change.
Into that major, if you're not in that college already, so you do want to make sure that you are asking those questions once you are on campus.
OK, Alright, so a few more questions here.
There is a questions about the spring 2021 schedule of where to put it. So when you're importing your classes you can put it into that app. You should be able to just select a term an you would be able to select spring of 2021 and then as far as the grades that you'd be in putting, you can just put PL for planned. You should also be able to if you have any troubles or issues with that. You can also import it.

Where do you put the spring '21 schedule? Is it on the UC Tap website?
You know you'll be able to do that also on the UC application too, but that app definitely has the ability to, you know you can put in for future terms some sense students I meet with plan for like you know, like a whole year two in advance. Obviously they have to modify it because they don't exactly follow that plan, but they do have the ability to. You do have the ability to put future terms, so spring 2021 is going to be very important.

Karina, please contact your UCD TAG contact as your questions are very specific: https://tag.ucdavis.edu/contacts.cfm
there's a lot of questions here, so I'm just kinda scrolling through a little bit. So when might you see Davis update the majors for 2020-2021 is set, so assist.org has done a is in the middle of a remodel, so I wouldn't say assist is waiting on us if you want to find the most up to date information, I would definitely look at our UC Davis website. I am not sure when assist is planning on releasing all of their major guides.

my college doesnt offer bio 2A, so what is the course equivallency if assist doesn't show it
I'm like we used to have a few years ago. I know that's just a work in progress on their end and we're all patiently waiting, but in the mean time, you know, as laticia kind of described, just a little bit ago, the best thing to do is to look at our website and look at each individual course and then go to assist. You know it takes a little bit time, little back and forth to look up the, you know, look up the course individually by the subject matter to find out what the course of problems he is.
02:00:12 PM
When might UC Davis update the Majors for 2020-2021 on Assist.org?
So there's a question about what is an alternative major, so an alternative major is essentially when you are.
Well, there's a couple different things where I think you mean by on your application. We do ask students to select an alternative major. Just note that when you do apply your primary major, whatever you're applying to is what you're going to be. You know, is what we're going to be evaluating for to making sure you have your course. Is the alternative major option you know isn't that? Isn't that situation where you know?
Leticia Garay
02:01:06 PM
For psc, you should complete BIS 10 if BIS 2A isn't offered
Maybe someone isn't meeting their requirements, you know, and you know? Or we need students in a certain major. We May look up and see you know what your alternative major is an in times. Just know that we don't evaluate for both majors. It's just like an option. If you know later on you're not meeting the terms at sometimes we can try to work with students and.

What is an alternative major? What else should I be careful when I choose it?
You know, see if we can. You know if they'd be interested in switching to their alternative major, so I recommend that you put one on, you know, put one down. If you have an alternative major. It's just like kind of like a second option if you will. But again, we will be evaluating all transfer applicants for their primary for their primary major that they're putting. So also whatever major if you are doing that at A tag, whatever you apply to as A tag does need to match the UC application, unless you're in the event where you apply for A tag and maybe it was denied for some reason.
I recommend you talk to an advisor, but enough in that case if you didn't qualify for that major for whatever reason. If you can't fix it under UC application, maybe forgot some information you are allowed to switch majors once you apply at that point in time.
I'm going to do another one here.
There was a question again about the assist.

I look at the 2016-17 Assist with UC Davis and then look to the TAG for the most up-to-date information.
As I look at the 2016 seventeen assist with UC Davis and then look at the tag for the most up-to-date over information. So that was a recommendation. So you definitely can do that. The 1617, but yeah, that they have older articulations. Again, assist is working on, you know, updating all colleges in all schools information for all major so it's just not all there yet. The best thing to do again is just to look on, you know each individual campuses website. Of course this is UC Davis, so we're talking bout ucdavis. But if you're applying to other colleges, you might want to look at their requirements as well.
You know, and then you can compare that to the courses listed on assist as well. It does take a little bit of time, but really it's something you know. If you're a student, that's something you shouldn't be doing. You know, maybe once or twice if you're trying to look up a couple different majors and you should have that that list available to go.
OK, I'm going to switch over to Laticia.

Are all the courses listed on IGETC, UC transferable?
Alrighty so I have a question here and it says are all courses listed on. I guess easy transferable so I get see. Does have AUC version in the CSU version of it? So we do want to talk to your Community College to kind of make sure that you're doing that you see one to align itself with the requirements that we have for general admissions. However, because general education or I get see is actually.
Approved by the community colleges, I also students go ahead and look him up on assistant work anyways just to make sure that everything is transferable and let you know exactly what courses will be included in your unit. Angie P. Account just so that there's no confusion on anyone's and as to what is transferable. But if you're following the UCI get see for you. See at least my understanding of it is that it should be transferable, but always, always, always make sure on the sister or yourself.

Does being a DACA recipient have an effect on admission?
Sarah Fales
02:04:38 PM
You can check our the financial aid and scholarship page for webinars they are hosting: https://financialaid.ucdavis.edu/undergraduate
And so there is a question here about does being a daca recipient have an effect on admissions? No, there's no effect on where your residency is. We will be holding all of our transfer students to the same requirements, whether they are international, national, Oregon, California, daca or not. So make sure that you are following the requirements that we covered here to have the best chance of.
Benjamin
02:04:48 PM
Does being a DACA recipient have an effect on admission? Compared to natural-born citizens. What differences?
Um, and then let's see I have a question.
Woo Hyun
02:05:04 PM
I just have only one selective major course(math2) to take. I an planning to take in 2021 spring. Is it ok? or should I finish it in Fall 2020?
About I just have one selective major course to take. I'm planning to take it in spring of 2021. Is that OK or should I finish it and fall of 2022? So if this math course is also doubling up as where you see em course then you need to have it done by your fall of 2020 term. If it's just for your major then you can go ahead and finish it in spring of 2021.
But you know, you wanna make sure that you know what the differences and make sure that you have that ECM done for tag purposes. If you are applying to just general admissions, you have until spring of 2021 for you. See M as well.
Woo Hyun
02:05:44 PM
thank you!
OK, and then I will answer the last question I have in the queue. So if you have any other questions feel free to keep him going so that way we have more you know topics to cover here.

02:06:09 PM
Can you change your "planned" courses for 2021 after you've applied? let say if I enroll in a different course rather than the courses I put in my application, would I be able to change that? does that affect my admission?
02:06:12 PM
Thank you so much for this webinar it was very helpful and well presented.
But the next question I will be answering is can you change your plan? The courses for spring of 2021 after you've replied, Let's say I enroll any different color in a different course rather than the course I put in my application. Would I be able to change that and does that affect my admissions so we do understand that most students don't have their final spring schedule by the time they submit either the tag or the UC application. So we do expect schedule.
Spring schedules to change a little bit.
02:06:37 PM
outstanding presentation. thank you!
Then you will have the opportunity to report those changes through the T, au or that transfer academic update that Sarah mentioned earlier, and so that T Au, which will submit you know in January for priority deadline will be when you give us your final FA grades an your final spring schedule and if the change is due, may don't impact any of the criteria we have for tag and or general admissions, then you should be good to go. The tricky thing is.
02:06:57 PM
Do CA residents need a minimum of 2.4 GPA, though that's not a competitive GPA. Do non-CA residents, F-1 students and DACA students need a 2.8 GPA minimum or not?
Sarah Fales
02:07:04 PM
https://www.ucdavis.edu/admissions/undergraduate/transfer
Sarah Fales
02:07:18 PM
non resident transfer students must meet a 2.8 GPA
If you're a selective nature or you are right on the cusp of unit of the unit requirement, for example, then we should verify. I would say to be on the safe side with an advisor to make sure that you are not replacing a required course with a course that is transferable but not required, because that could make the difference between you being admitted or being denied, so that's a very, very important thing to pay attention to, but if you're changing a course that is just transferable.
Sarah Fales
02:07:39 PM
You must earn at least a 2.40 GPA in your UC-transferable classes to meet UC requirements; California non-residents must earn at least a 2.80 GPA. However, UC Davis requires a minimum 2.80 GPA to be selected for admission
And you're replacing it with another transferable course. That's usually OK, and that usually that's actually very common, so no need to worry about that particular situation.

OK, so I'm not seeing any other questions in the queue, so just to recap, we do have that engineering web and are starting up for. I did put the link in there but I can go ahead and add it again for our counselors. Feel free to join us next week or the week following so I'll put those states up here for the Part 2 of reviewing the tag application and so this one's going to be specific.

I don't know if there's anything else that you wanted to add or dress yourself before. I guess we go ahead and close 'cause I don't see any other questions.
Alrighty so real quickly outlook accounts, so I already beat me to the punch. There are links for our webinars that are happening for both transfers an counselors so so for you to join us some other time to get other questions answered. And then I'm going to include the engineering web and R as well.

In the link here. OK so it's gonna be very specific to engineering and you can ask a lot more nitty gritty questions about that. 'cause those can be very tricky majors to apply to, but OK, I think that is it. It looks like we have no other questions. Thank you again for joining us. Hopefully we help clarify a few things and if not, at the very least you have Contacts now that you can go ahead and reach out to for further questions.
But thanks again, have a good night.
