Does mistrusting obsessing about somebody else is doing fine?
They exist, songs never broke back.

Hello Everyone!
Just want everyone to see you.
UC Davis, you probably already knew this, but we are in the top five best public universities in the United States. We are a research University and you can have a lot of hands-on opportunities to practice that research and learn and grow toward your karere. We've got a world famous program in agriculture, veterinary medicine, and food Science, Engineering, Biology, Arts, Humanities, more and more and more. It's really big. We are the biggest of all the UC campuses. We even have our.
Phone airport on our campus. Kind of nuts where are we? We are located in beautiful Northern California. It is centrally located, close to a lot of gorgeous spots that are that get lots of love on Instagram. San Francisco is about an hour and a half away in the Pacific Ocean. Lake Tahoe is about an hour and a half away. Los Angeles Hollywood. You can get two in about a six hour drive were in the middle of all of it, an.
All of these places are literally in our backyard. There's always a lot to do and we are about 15 minutes from Sacramento, which is the state capital. That's my hometown. There's a lot to do there if you're interested in the legislative system or public policy or law. A lot of our students will do internships at the UC center at the state capital, and that's where you'll also find everything that you would want in a big city. So lots of great shopping, restaurants, coffee, big name.
Concerts that are Golden. One center. We've got Maroon 5 Taylor Swift, Ed Sheeran everybody comes through here and R NBA team. The Sacramento Kings. If anybody likes basketball.
So Davis is a college town. We're the only true college town in the UC system. And that's a big deal. It's probably my favorite thing about Davis. Everything is really student centered, student focused and everything's really close together. So here's kind of a map of showing the proximity between Davis, the campus, and downtown Davis, where all of our students like to hang out when they're not in class. and I can walk from the middle of campus.
Two downtown Davis on foot. No bike in about 12 minutes. It's super easy to to navigate.
An here are just some pretty pictures of downtown Davis. There's a lot going on. It's a really eclectic hipster town. We get tourists coming through on the weekends because we've got one of the best farmers markets in the entire United States. We have three movie theaters of over 200 shops and restaurants, so there's always something to do, and it's very walkable.
Easy to get around. That's kind of a big deal when you go to college, especially if you're leaving home and traveling far away from your families. For University, you want to think about how am I going to get around in this place? am I going to need a car? Can I walk and so in Davis our students are really lucky because nobody needs a car. You can either get where you're going walking or riding your bike or on our public transportation that is included in your fees as a student visa.
This is our red bus system, the Unitrans that you can actually learn how to drive yourself anti actually used to be one of our unitrans bus drivers and he did that as a part time job and I think he enjoyed it. He's got a lot of skills.
And of course there are the bikes. I'm sure everybody knows that you see Davis is big on bikes. I just want to look at the chat real fast. Did you all know that we have a lot of bikes here? I think we're kind of famous for it. This type in the chat. Did you know that? Yes, yes yes, definitely, definitely yes. Got it all right. So you see Davis or Davis. CA is the bicycle capital of the United States. There's more bikes in Davis than human beings.
Which is kind of nuts, so if you're if you are used to writing a bike, you're in good shape we've got. We can fix you up with a newer used bike once you arrive on campus. If you can't. If you're a little rusty with your biking skills, we can refresh your memory, give you lessons before you hit the ground, but that is our most popular mode of Transportation on campus.
So when you are moving away from home for college, this is probably one of the biggest concerns for your families. Is safety and security.
But again, we have a lot of advantages living in Davis because as a college town, we're a smaller sized town than a lot of big cities. And keep in mind that the bigger the city that you live in, the more big city issues that you're going to have to deal with. And I'm going to look at the chat one more time just to make sure you're all awake and paying attention to me. What are some issues that you might find in a big city that you wouldn't find in a smaller size city or town? Traffic pollution. I'm watching the chat, yeah.
Safety, pollution, cost of living, Yep, all of that. So again in Davis we are very blessed in that it's a really close knit community. We have our own Police Department on campus. Our own fire Department on campus, the red.
Residence halls are super secure everything is well lit. I never have to worry about myself. When I'm walking around even late at night, sometimes if I'm working late on campus and I have to walk from my office to my car and it's dark outside. I never have to worry about looking over my shoulder because it's just we're really it's a very safe low crime city in the United States.
So we are a large University UC Davis is a large, comprehensive University. There's a lot of offices and centers on campus to address literally every aspect of your life as a student. Some of them are shown on this map here. These community centers and you're going to learn a lot more about each and every one of them next week, in our Aggie experience live event that I hope you're all paying attention to. I know you've all received invites to it. It's our big campus virtual.
Anne, it's next week and I'm really excited to see what that's going to look like. I'm looking at the chat again. Please tell me that you are aware of Aggie experience. Live coming up, just type in the chat real fast. Yes Yes yes I am Yep good thanks thanks you guys. I'm watching the chat can see everything you type.
Uh, let's move forward. So In addition to these community centers, we've got a lot of international communities like the international student organizations on campus. We are the eighth most ethnically diverse campus in the United States. We are a very global campus. It's one of my favorite things about being part of UC Davis, so here's just a small list. This is just a handful of them. See if you can already see a student organization on this list.
Can you identify with? If not I promise there's a ton of other ones that you will also find, and these students on the slide here there standing outside of our International Center, which is a brand new building that houses a lot of the resources and staff and services that take care of you. If you're an international student. I'm lots lots of comments on the chat about this. I'm so excited.
So the people that will issue you're I 20s for example in the services for international students and scholars or in this building they help you have everything that you need to make that appointment at the embassy to secure your visa so that you can come and study here in California.
And then, along with helping, you just feel like you have your community here. We want to make sure that you feel at home and part of feeling at home is knowing that my needs are going to be addressed not just as a student or as an academic, but as a whole person. And that means your your physical self and your emotional Wellness and just mental health. All of those things are part of being human and we take good care of those.
All of our students have access to an on campus student Health Center and counseling services by professional staff and by student peers. You can take advantage of things like a teaching kitchen that will teach you how to code just in case you don't have the best cooking skills yet because you haven't had to do that by yourself, will make sure you're well equipped. Speaking of cooking food so when you are as important as you see Davis in agriculture in the world.
Food is a very big deal, so we have dining Commons that are associated with the dorms and they are huge. Kind of huge food chords where you can find all different kinds of cuisines. We've got all you can eat buffets. We have pizza, pasta, a lot of different kinds of desserts. The menu rotates every day is different and you're going to find all your cultural needs. If you have any specific dietary.
Hum restrictions whether you're vegan or vegetarian or hella or kosher gluten free, you're going to find plenty of food for you there and then. In addition to the dining Commons, another thing that I love about UC Davis is that we have food trucks and they are so cute and the food is delicious and there's a lot of variety of different food trucks that come to campus and serve our students. So that's just a another fun thing. If you need something quick to grab and go.
And I need to get off this slide, otherwise I'll be talking about food all day because it's my favorite thing. How are we going to work off that food that we just ate were really active campus? So living in California, there's always a lot to do an we like to be physically active an especially you will find that at UC Davis as well. We have the activities and Recreation Center we call it the Ark.
And there you will find things like a rock climbing wall in an indoor track, basketball, volleyball, racquetball courts, badminton, Um, Whately. You'll find like exercise rooms for Yoga, an moitie, and all different sorts of things. So there's a lot to do. And if that's not enough, we have a game center you can go bowling, play billiards, there's video games.
It is still want more. We've got a brand new rec pool just renovated. It is gorgeous and so you can just go out there and bathe in the sun or splash around. Um, play ball in volleyball. Whatever looks good to you.
And if you need something a little more intense, the sports scene is really intense at UC Davis because we are a Division One School who knows what Division One is. Type in the chat and looking.
Has anyone does is a Nano unaware of the divisions? Yeah the highest here. Thanks hammer I'm I'm reading the chat top Tier Sports League that's correct. So in the United States there are levels in collegiate athletics and Division One is literally the best you can be. It means that our teams are on TV. They're kind of rock stars and so we are Division One in over 20 different sports. If you think that you are like that, good like at that level like almost.
Famous in your country and you want to come play with one of our Division One teams. You can check out the Athletics website, tell him about yourself. There's a questionnaire on there they might be interested in talking to you. If you are an athlete right now in high school an you still want to play a sport but maybe not be on TV and we've got a lot of intramural sports and clubs sports that you can also join.
And then there's the Arboretum. So this is just a gorgeous, super peaceful Zen part of campus. It's right in the middle of campus is like a big forest in the middle of campus, with a Lake in the middle of that. And it's an area where you can find students just hanging out, having picnics, running, biking, taking naps. There is a wildlife there. You're going to see duck santerno turtles, and if you're lucky, you might even spot one of our.
It's just A and actually another cool thing is that sometimes the professors will bring their classes outdoors on the Arboretum and do their lectures outside, which I think is.
OK, so we are as a big University. We've got a lot of majors. We have over 100 majors and the cool thing about studying in the United States is that you can major in anything that you want and there's so much flexibility to customize your field of study so students at UC Davis can double major or triple major. You can major in minor, any kind of configuration of those of the subjects that we offer that excites you regardless of what major you're in.
It's going to fall under the umbrella of one of our four colleges. These are them College of Agriculture, Engineering, Biological Sciences, letters, and science. If you're not sure which college you're in, you just check your admission letter. It should be. It should be somewhere there and then because college is hard, we have a lot of supports for students to make sure that they're doing their best. And Eric selling in those hard college classes. So there is a lot of academic support. We have a tutoring center that will help you with things like.
Writing in science and math and study skills and even things like time management and money management. So going to college isn't just about taking classes, it's really to help get you ready for your future careers. It's about professional development too, so our internship and Career Center. They are just awesome at matching people up with internship opportunities every year. They facilitate over 10,000 internships for our students. Over 70% of UC Davis students will do at least one internship before they grab.
These are just some companies that offer internships to our students an every quarter we have these huge recruitment fairs where companies that you know very well will come to campus and talk to our students and snatched them up for things like internships and a lot of our students will get hired in full time jobs before they even graduate. Because of the work that the internship and Career Center does.
OK, so we want to make sure that you got all the information that you need to prepare you for that big decision that you will all have to make by May 1 and the next best opportunity outside of these awesome webinars that I hope you think are awesome that we're offering to you. Is Aggie experience live.
That's coming up next week. I'm so excited about that tire. You excited about Aggie experience live?
It's like a virtual open house.
Ann, you're going to see a lot of Department San professors from campus talking to us live on screen through social media through Facebook and you're going to receive the invite for that. You should actually check your emails because you should be already equipped to fully participate in that. So make sure you don't miss that. And if you decide by May one that you want to be an Aggie and you want to come to UC Davis Ann, I really hope you will, because I think that you're all going to be a good fit for UC Davis. That's kind of why we admitted you then you need to log into.
You're my admissions account. An SIRESSIR stands for statement of intent to register. You go into your my admissions. You will find the way to do that. There the button for Sir and the next question that students usually have on their minds after they say yes to UC Davis, is where am I going to live? So as soon as you, Sir, you will be given access to your housing application and that's the magical place. Or you can indicate.
All your preferences for where you want to live out of our three beautiful dorm complexes on campus, or how many roommates you want or any special needs that you want? Or just the configuration of your dorm? Do you want like a single dorm or a double door? Maura suite style dorms? We have a lot of different options for you. Make sure you go to the housing website because they are the experts about what they offer in housing an.
There will be like Maps and diagrams and even videos about what the dorms look like from the housing website, so make sure you take a look before you indicate your preferences so that you know what you're asking for an the next question after housing is usually OK. Now, How do I get my classes?
That's where orientation comes in. Orientation is mandatory. You have to attend, but we're going to make it really easy for you, because we're going to get you started even before you come to UC Davis. As soon as you submit your essay are you're going to get some access to something called Aggie 101, which is a bunch of online modules that will give you all the information you need to navigate the college system. You're going to be like a pro at the end of this Aggie 101.
You need to your. It'll help you get set up with an appointment with a real live advisor for your major, and these are the experts on each one of your major is a lot of time. Students will ask me very specific questions about so tell me about your physics major. Tell me about computer science and I can give you a little bit, but keep in mind this is a big University. We have an expert for every single major on campus and they're the ones that you're going to want to connect with before you even arrive on campus and they are excited.
To connect with you, so make sure you take advantage of that.
And they will help you, um register for your classes before you even come and then these are just some important dates that we want you to keep in mind. We already talked about what's happening next week. Aggie experience live, you need to all be there. I want to make sure your laptops are getting a ton of love next week. So we all need to be glued to our laptops. So you get the best out of this awesome program that the campus is busy preparing for you may one. We all know what that is, and then orientation is going to be September 20.
5 to 29. Don't procrastinate on your housing application. I already talked about that, but that's going to be super important. As soon as you submit your Sir on May 1, you go to your housing application and get that done. You can connect with us in so many different ways. Right now we've got this international WhatsApp group that is blowing up if you're not already in it. What are you doing? Can I just see in the chat who's already in our international WhatsApp group? Anybody anybody, anybody?
Ah, I am Mimi alright get in there. There's a lot of fun and so basically this is an opportunity. Whether or not you decide that you want to come to UC Davis, you're going to find other admitted students who are in your exact same boat. You'll be able to talk to them, ask them questions. We've got students in there. We've got staff in there. I'm in their ties in there. Everyone from the international admissions team is there, so we all want to talk to you and help you with that big decision that you're going to make. That's pretty much the whole PowerPoint.
An I think I'm gonna turn it to you guys to see what questions you have.
Thanks for letting me get through that.
I'm just going to wait to get your questions.
And if you are shy and you don't ask me questions, I'm going to be asking you questions.

Does passing the AP Calculus AB exam and a high score on the placement exam allow any skipping of math classes such as 21A?
Leilani Allen
09:25:46 AM
Does the college sell or rent bikes?
So we have a question here. Does passing the AP calculus AP Exam, Anna High School score on the placement allow placement exam allow any skipping of math classes such as 21 A OK, so AP if you attended an AP class in high school like you sat for the course and now you want to?
Thamer Albuainain
09:26:07 AM
Do I have to submit my SIR to join Aggie Experience Live?
You want to take the exam. You had the opportunity to take the exam already and you already have a score. The way you find out what courses those can match up to on our campuses. By going to the UC Davis website, go to the Advanced Placement or AP recognition chart on the UC Davis website and you will see exactly how many credits you're going to get. I think it's 8 credits that you're going to earn, and you'll see exactly which math class on campus it.
Samridh Tuteja
09:26:30 AM
How does the I20 process work
It satisfies. Thanks Karen, for that question.
Thai Vue
09:26:33 AM
Hi Leilani, we have a bike shop on campus that you can purchase a bike. We also have Jump Bikes throughout campus and these are the bikes you can rent.
Um lalani pretty pretty name is asking does the college sell or rent bikes?
OK, I think I got that question.
Cool, alright, we have another question here. How does the I-20 process work? So what you're going to do again once you Sir, that's when all the Magic happens. It will trigger notifications all over campus and let all the experts on campus know that you're coming and that we are. We need to receive you, the people who will issue your eye. 20 are in an office that we call the services for international students and scholars. They are pretty punctual about taking care of the.
Thai Vue
09:27:20 AM
Hi Thamer, you do not need to submit your SIR to join Aggie Experience Live. We hope you submit your SIR after this experience.
Requirements for your I-20. So my best advice to you is to go to the SISS website, reach out to an advisor, their their handling all of that and you just need to follow their instructions.

09:27:33 AM
is it easy to get internships and jobs nearby the uc davis campus?
Nitish Gupta
09:27:55 AM
Will out hosuing application take into account which dorm we want to live in?
Another question from Akila, is it easy to get internships and jobs near by the UC Davis campus? So there are a lot of internships to go around. They're abundant, the internship and Career Center is really good about helping you find those opportunities. There are plenty of opportunities on campus that you can participate in. Just go to the ICC International internship and Career Center Ann.
Lisa Verma
09:28:15 AM
In how many installments can we pay our fees?
They will let you know what those are. You tell them what your preferences are and you apply for those. Internships were really lucky because you see Davis is very undergraduate focus, so we're not a University where it's super cutthroat and that most of those opportunities for internships or reserved for graduate students. It's the opposite at UC Davis, so there's a lot to go around, but you do still need to take the initiative to go talk to the advisors at the internship and Career Center to get those started.
If you are an international student, there are a lot of part time jobs also on campus that can service internships and you can participate in those as well. You can even come work for us in admissions.
I see Ty's busy in the chat. Thanks for the help. Tie. Nitish is asking. Um housing application. Will the housing application take into account account which dorm we want to live in? Yes, so I think one of the questions on the housing application is which dorm do you want to live in? And so we have three complexes complexes. We have segundo tercero, an Puerto they are all modern and beautiful and within walking distance of all your classes.
Thai Vue
09:29:34 AM
Hi Lisa, installment can be paid in 3 installment. The options are available for you in your Myadmissions page under the financial tab.
Dan Jose Jinoy
09:29:47 AM
Is there any way to see the classes we have to take for a major before we enroll?
We highly recommend that students live in the residence halls, at least for the first year. We will guarantee your housing for the first 2 years, so you're in good shape there. You really can't go wrong with any one of them, but I again I would suggest going to the website. There are virtual tours so that you know what, how they are a little bit different and what they look like an.
Yeah, that's what I would would suggest. But yeah, as as as long as you get your housing application in quickly an you tell them be very open with all your preferences. They are really awesome at trying to accommodate your requests.
Can Yilmazer
09:30:34 AM
Do you award any financial aid to international students? If so, how much on average? Thank you.
Another question from Dan, Is there anyway to see the classes we have to take for a major before we enroll totaly you again go to the UC Davis website. That's kind of like everything. Click on the name of your major from the majors tab on ucdavis.edu Ann. You're going to see everything about that major. You will see all of the courses that you would take to complete that measure that are pulled out of our campus catalog.
It even gives you information about what are the possible careers that this major will help you enter, and we also have something called the UC Davis majors blague where you can read stories and profiles of former UC Davis students are alumni who have completed those majors an see what they're doing now in their careers and how successful AR sometimes even how much money they make.
Pedro Alladio
09:31:06 AM
Are any experiences or opportunities closed to international students ?
Can Yilmazer
09:31:19 AM
Do you award any financial aid to international students? If so, how much on average? Thank you.
Other questions Pedro is asking are any experiences or opportunities closed to international students? So I will tell you that whether you're an international student or a domestic student or a California student, you are a UC Davis student. First, an foremost, we are all Aggies so you will have access to all of the opportunities and resources that any other UC Davis student has. There is no discrimination in that regard.
Ori Grushka
09:31:42 AM
could you go back one slide so i can scan the WhatsApp QR code
Thai Vue
09:31:46 AM
Hi Can, financial aid is very limited to international students or any non-resident students.
I will say Full disclosure, obviously because because you may be coming from another country, there are some government regulations from the US government, for example, that may prevent you from getting a paid internship, for example off-campus. Those kind of things. But again, those questions are really good to pose to the advisors in these services. For international students office. But really you're not going to feel any differentiation between.
For you, between you and the other students. In any of those resources are opportunities.
Arpita Vashisht
09:32:21 AM
If problems with corona continue, could we get a deferral
Another question from Aureum. Could you go back one slides? Oh yeah, for sure he wants to scan the WhatsApp code. There you go.
Um Arpita is asking if problems with Corona continue. Could we get a deferral? Yeah, so uhm, I was waiting for someone to ask the first question about this. Uhm, well, just the good news is that we're all in this together.
Akshit Verma
09:33:22 AM
is there any limit to how many classes one can take in a semester?
One of a kind of a sappy way to look at this, but I'm feeling it a lot is that this is like the first time in my lifetime that I ever remember anything unifying the entire Globe in such a way that we're all dealing with exactly the same issues and concerns and challenges and questions. I will say that all universities around the world are now faced with having to be extra understanding and aware. An flexible and accommodating as much as possible.
So yes, the answer is yes that if if something beyond our control, like the spread of coronavirus or travel restrictions, make it so you can't start when you want to start and you feel like you need to defer, we do have a different process where you can delay your enrollment from one quarter up to a full year, but you have to Sir first, so the rule is the way that works is that you, Sir, accept your seat at UC Davis by May 1.
Jade Lee
09:34:05 AM
What is student life like at UC Davis
And then if you need to defer, you just reach out to us. There's a different process an were handling all those things on a case by case basis, but please, let's be positive and send positive vibes out there in the world. So this clears up in the world, settles down by this fall and you all get to common. Have a great start to your college career.
Jade has a question. What is student life like at UC Davis, OK?
Thai Vue
09:34:34 AM
Hi Akshit, we are on a quarter system (10 weeks) per quarter. 3 academic quarters per year. To be consider a full time student you must enroll in 12 units minimum.
Love this question. We are really busy. Vibrant campus is the Super hipster community. Our students are really creative. There are a lot of fun but Super Brainy as well and there's a lot to do. We have over 800 student clubs and organizations. You will always find something to do for fun outside outside of class, and this is probably when I should give you another piece of advice that.
Tallula Auman
09:35:12 AM
Is there a lot of Greek life?
Because there's so much to do, you should probably pace yourself at the beginning, so when you come to UC Davis, especially if you're traveling so far from home, there may be a lot to excite an distract you that we want you to kind of just gauge before you jump into too many things all at once. So come get used to the environment, get started in your classes, maybe sign up for a club Aurora.
Club Sporer or something? Um minor, mild to start with. Before you sign up for more than that. So there is a lot to do. Not just on campus but off campus. So a lot of our students Thursday when like a lot of students, will have Fridays off their classes, will run through Thursday, so Thursday afternoon is when a lot of our students will start to wander off campus into downtown Davis, where they'll grab a coffee or have Thai food or just hang out.
Uh, we have a beautiful farmers market two days a week on Wednesdays an on Saturdays that we like to hang out and buy fresh food. There's a lot. I mean, there were always outside and one of my favorite things about about Davis that I don't know if this appeals to you all or not, but you can check this out online or on Insta is our acapella groups. We have really talented acapella groups.
And you can join them if you're a good singer. If anyone knows how to sing, check them out so we have the UC Davis spoke. Switches are all women's a cappella group.
Arpita Vashisht

Are we most likely not going to receive financial aid as international students?
And we have the afterglow Mens acapella another question Talula's asking is there a lot of Greek life? Yes we have a very active Greek life on campus. They have their own houses you can you can rush to join them there. Usually out on the quad in the middle of campus in the fall looking for people to join them. They are fun, a lot of them are service based, some of them are professional based. So yes there's a lot.

Would the cancellation of A-Levels exams affect admissions decisions for students who won't be getting their final grade?
Let's see, Sasha sucking is asking with the cancellation of a level exams affect admission decisions for students who won't be getting their final grades OK?
Thai Vue
09:37:32 AM
Hi Arpita, we have merit based scholarships but no need based aid for international students.
Um, another really good question. So like I mentioned at the beginning, we know that a lot of your end of year exams have already been cancelled an that's nothing that you can control. It's beyond your control. It's not your fault. We are not going to punish or disadvantage you because of it, so we're being super understanding inflexible about that and the University of California has already issued a statement saying that we're going to allow for your schools to take a little bit more time to send in their final transcripts, whatever.
Marks are on your transcripts that your your teachers and your schools have issued. We will honor those, but we're not going to cancel anyone because of this issue because it's it's not. It's not something that you did. It's kind of affecting everybody.

What about Off Campus Housing?
If you have any concerns about specific issues regarding any of your grades or anything that you're concerned about if you go to your my admissions portal, there is a link to update us with anything you regarding your academic record. That's a really good place just to type openly and just write to us about what's on your mind. What you're worried about. An admissions advisor will read it and respond to you.

Will there be support for ESL (English-as-a-Second-Language) students to practice their English?
We have a question about off-campus housing, so yeah, Davis is a college town, so even though we really recommend that you live on campus and one of our residence halls, you don't have to. It's not required. We have plenty of off campus housing as well. Sometimes students after their first or second years after they've made a circle of friends, they know that they wanted like room have roommates from among their friends. They will rent an apartment off campus Ann.
Jade Lee
09:39:36 AM
How do athletic walk-ons work? Do your NCAA teams hold tryouts?
Maybe share the rent and save a little bit of money. That way there are a lot of housing options and because we're a college town, everything is still really close together so even or off campus apartments are within walking or biking distance of where your classes are, yeah.
Jade is asking about athletic walk ONS. Do your N CAA teams hold tryouts? They do so for the most part. If you. If you were at that Division One level and you want to compete, you want to play with along with one of our Division One teams. My advice would be to reach out to the Athletics Department right away. There's a there's an athletics questionnaire or recruitment questionnaire. Just give them all the.
And about you, and they may be responding and want to have a conversation with you. They do have the option for walk ONS once you enroll, but again, they're the experts on those things we have.

Hi Thamer, we have a Summer Start program that can assist with ESL support. You can learn more about Summer Start here: https://summerstart.ucdavis.edu/

Dan's asking when do we receive information on scholarships so?
When you apply to UC Davis, that application that you fill that was also it actually also served as a scholarship application. So some students, when they are admitted, they may receive a merit based scholarship along with their admission offer. And it would appear on your my admissions under a tab called my awards. If you didn't see anything when you receive that admission, email it said. Congratulations, you're in. That doesn't mean that you can't still apply for scholarships once you enroll.

I am not able to scan the code for the Whatsapp group..Is there any other way to get into the group
Sometimes I can't guarantee this, but sometimes after May 1 after we see who of our admitted students have chosen to say yes to UC Davis, our financial aid office will will take a look at any leftover monies that was not taken by other students in terms of scholarships. An may turn around and try to package some smaller awards and notify students if they receive those, but that usually happens over the summer time, and they're not usually really big.
Awards they may be up to a few $1000 and pay for things like you computer or.
Ticket back home. Yeah, and we have other things, so take a look at. We have a financial aid website and if you do a search on the UC Davis website for financial aid and scholarships, scholarships for international students, there's a lot of details there for you as well.
Um, say Hodges asking I'm not able to scan the code for WhatsApp Group. Is there any other way to get into the group? I will hook you up. I'm actually going to make a note for you. So how is right now and I will get that link to you. Thanks for letting me know.

Let's see, an entire is asking if I need to appeal my aid. Can I call the financial aid Department before accepting you? Totale can? It says you are financial aid offer is still being prepared
If you go to the UC Davis website on the admissions page, you can, you'll find a spot to ask an advisor. That's a place where you can get more information and direction, but absolutely you can. There's also advisor context from the financial page financial aid website as well.
And there's another question, my the mine awards section says that your financial aid offer is still being prepared. Yet we know that, and it means that they are working on it. So just be patient. Give it a few weeks an you should be seeing some more information pop into that blue box on your your my admissions.

Website is your is your always. You're going to be or go to go to the housing website. There are advisor Contacts there. Just just email them and they'll respond to you.
The line is asking is there anybody I can contact later that can have answers for future questions yes you can totaly contact us so if you're in WhatsApp you can ask us questions there. My entire international admissions team is in the group an ready to answer your questions and you can also go to the admissions website and see where it says. Ask an advisor and type your questions in there and people respond to you and that's another reason why it's super important that you all attend.

does the housing choices include chosing people of the same courses you study too?
I think they're doing their best to have sessions recorded so that you can find them later if you're not able to attend live everyone, but they're going to do their best to have information about every question that might be on your mind.
Aquille is asking does the housing choices include choosing people of the same courses you study? Yes, you can absolutely indicate on your housing application what your major is and whether or not you want to find someone to room with that shares your major.
I know a lot of students who will use something on Facebook called room sink. I think it's called Aggie room sink. If I'm not mistaken where you can see other UC Davis knew admitted students who are looking for roommates an maybe you hit it off on Facebook and then you decide to room together the way you would do that on your housing application. If you already know somebody else who's coming to UC Davis and you want to be their roommate. I know a lot of people are.
Currently making friends and hitting enough in our WhatsApp groups and that makes me Super Happy. You can actually name each other on the application you name the one person, the other person names you and you end up rooming together.

do you have to live in a dorm during your first year?
Um Jade is asking where is the housing application? You will see it as soon as you submit your intent to register. So as soon as you say yes you you should be able to find find an access link to the housing application from your my admissions website. And here's another thing guys, it's really important to stay close to your emails, especially now when we're all feeling a little bit disconnected. Social distancing and all of that.
Um, your email is huge and this is how we're talking to you. Never ignore an email from UC Davis. We don't just email for the sake of filling up your inbox, so we email you with pertinent information. We email you with instructions and actions to do so. Make sure you're close with that, because we try to do our best to make sure you have everything you need and all the information so that you're not scratching your head. Wondering what to do?
Pedro Alladio
09:47:57 AM
How easy is it to change majors ?
Um Nampa is asking do I have to live in the dorm the first year? No, you don't have to. We think it's a really good idea because you'll have you'll be right there. And smack dab in the middle of campus really close to the dining Commons an you'll be able to find your community of students waiting for you, and there's even tutoring and service tutoring services that come to the residence halls and that you do not have to.
Not a requirement. Pedro is asking how easy is it to change majors for the most part it's super easy. So um.
Ori Grushka
09:48:39 AM
do you know if the ski teams work the same way as the NCAA teams in that you should contact somebody in advance?
So we kind of assume that when you're 17 and 18 years old, you might not know exactly what you want to do forever for the rest of your life, and so we make it really easy for you to explore. It's it's pretty much just a form or a petition to say that I want to change my major. The majority of UC Davis students will change their majors at least once in their academic careers.
The only situation where it maybe not super Seamless is if you are going from um. If you're trying to get into an engineering major from something completely outside and unrelated to engineering because the College of engineering likes to see that students can take a few foundation classes first, make sure that you can be successful in them before they say yes to you changing your major.
But beyond that, it's pretty easy.
Any other questions before we wrapped up?

Hi Ori, our Ski team is a club sport. It's not a NCAA team. You can reach out to the Ski club team to get more info. We also have a Ski or Snowboard club on campus as well.
John is asking does the financial aid offer still being prepared message indicate that we're going to be getting some type of aid? Honestly, I would doesn't make sense to me that you would see a message like that on your my admission page and have it not be filled with something at some point. But I have. I don't work for financial aid, so I wouldn't be able to tell you exactly what to expect, whether it's going to be an actual award of money or an option for.

I was part of the Ski or Snowboard club and enjoy going to the Tahoe ski resort every winter when I was a student.
Work study. You just have to be patient and keep taking a look. Let me say a little bit about just financial aid an the scholarship concept 'em in it. A lot of you are international students. A lot of you are traveling so far away from home. It's super important that you know ahead of time how much the total cost of attendance is at any school you're thinking to enroll at. We would never try to persuade a student too.
To sign up at a University, if the tuition is something that's so beyond their families means that it would cause an undue burden or pressure on your family is just not.
Jade Lee
09:51:00 AM
Are there opportunities to apply for scholarships once the academic year starts?
What we do so go into that decision with your eyes wide open. Do a little bit of homework. You can see a web page on our website called cost of attendance so you can see what you're getting into.
Because we really want your whole focus to be on excelling as a student and enjoying your life as a student. If money is too huge of an issue and it causes you to be stressed out or constantly worrying about how you're going to pay for things, then we believe that there's there's other options that that can be also great for you that are worth taking a look at.
Um, let's see other questions.

What about changing from engineering to sth else? Would it be easy?
Achilles asking regarding sports if I want to just join the sports and play with my fellow Aggies, is that easy totaly? Yep, because like I mentioned, not everybody is is a competitive athlete and even sometimes students who were competitive athletes in high school, they when they come to University they just want to be a student. They just want to focus on their classes and doing well, but they still want to play football or or badminton or tennis or or whatever they want to play. There's so many opportunities for you to do that. We want you to be physically active, is what?

But again, that's a better question for my friends at financial aid, and I know that there will be a financial aid session next week in in the schedule for Aggie experience.

Lalah knees asking what type of weather should I expect? Well, I'm looking outside my window right now. It's about 70 degrees sunny and gorgeous, so even though we're social distancing, I'm going to go for a walk as soon as I I get ouf the web and are with you all. We like to be outside a lot because the weather is probably as perfect as it could be like I have had the opportunity through my work to travel to a lot of different countries. I've seen what weather is in other parts of the world, and whenever I come back to California I always feel.

Hi Samya, the College of Engineering is our most competitive college. Switching out of Engineering is easy but switching into Engineering is challenging. All you have to do is submit a major change petition to switch out of Engineering.
Really lucky and blessed. We've got four distinct seasons, but we don't have any extreme weather, so sometimes you'll hear about other parts of the United States, like on the East Coast where they deal with like blizzards and hurricanes and snowstorms and things like that. We don't have anything like that. The winters can be a little bit cold, maybe around 10 degrees Celsius. You would need a jacket. It can be a little bit rainy. An February and March.

Summer is asking what support do you offer students with regards to mental health, so that's super important. It's part of who we are as humans and at UC Davis we care a lot about nurturing the whole person, so we have a Health Center on campus with professional counselors who were just sitting there waiting to connect with students and make sure your doing OK, not just in class but outside of class when you're going so far away from home for University.
There's a lot you have to deal with and adjust to emotionally and mentally and physically in your environment and socially so.

It's possible that sometimes you're not going to feel yourself. You might feel a little bit down. You might feel homesick and the people at the Health Center or just amazing and super supportive and they will sit down with you one on one and help you sort through whatever issues issues you've got. If you're having difficulty finding friends, they'll help you with that. But what I want to say is that when you come to a place like UC Davis and it's such a huge comprehensive institution, and I'm telling you we've got staff and offices all over campus to handle.
Every aspect of your life as a student, you really have to take the initiative to take advantage of those things 'cause they're not going to. They're not going to come to you. It's not the kind of situation like in high school where you have your teachers in your counselors and your parents. Everybody is coming at you to try to do things for you all the time. You need to be a little bit more proactive in college, a little bit more independent know that those things are there for you and that they are covered under the cost of the tuition that you would have.
Already paid so you own it, just seek it out and take advantage of it. And if you do, those things were confident that you'll have a good experience.
