My colleague Stanley is also with us in the room sound say hi there she is. Everyone say hi to San. She's gonna be helping me answer your questions.
San Lee
04:03:02 AM
You look beautiful at 4am, Dalia!
Um, thanks to all of you who registered for this. Ask me anything. This session is just, uh, for you about you. You are all in the driver's seat and I am in the hot seat.
Thanks and make me all self conscious first thing in the morning. Um, OK, so how is this gonna go? This is an open chat so you are more than welcome to just type your questions in the chat. Whatever is on your mind right now, some of you have already submitted questions when you registered for this webinar, so that's awesome. We're going to try to get to as many of those as possible. We have a big deadline coming up for a lot of students. May one is the big decision date.
This side, uh, where you're going to go to college next year, so you're choosing your school. So this is a big decision. We scheduled this. Ask me anything opportunity for you to just help you sort things out in your heads up in case there's any last minute issues or concerns that are still on your mind, nothing is off limits. You can ask me about UC Davis asked me about California, asked me about life in general. I can't promise I have.
Wisdom in the world, but I will do my best to make sure that you leave today's um, session. Feeling empowered to make that big decision and that you have most of the tools and information that you need to be confident in that decision. Uhm, so let's I want to just show you a quick slide of some resources.
Um, hopefully you can see my slide there. There's some ways to connect with us. We see that May 1 deadline looming a couple days from now. That's the Sir deadline. Sir is an acronym for statement of intent to register. You will find the opportunity to Sir and say yes to UC Davis, if that's what you're feeling from your my admissions website, you should be familiar with that already. If you're not, get in there when we sent you your congratulations, you're.
In email you were given access to a my admissions website portal. This is your, um, your central hub for communications from us. Make sure you get familiar with it. You will find the ASR button there and knew brand new is another opportunity if you want to take advantage of it right next to the Sir button. I think it's to the right. You will find an option 2.
Shriya Goyal
04:05:41 AM
the final exams are getting delayed in India under Covid 19 situation. This will delay the sending of transcripts. How does it impact my joining.
Extend your, um, extend the deadline or ask for an extension to say yes to UC Davis, if that's what you need. So if you feel like you need a little bit more time.
Cheuk Ying Lo
04:06:00 AM
what is the health insurance coverage like for international students?
Anvita Johri
04:06:19 AM
how diverse and inclusive is campus?
You can ask for an extension for now it looks like the extension is up to May 15th so it gives you a little bit more time couple weeks to chat things over with your family do some more soul searching before you say yes I see questions are getting started in the chat I'm gonna start actually with a question that was already submitted through the registration site and that is about the Cove in 19 situation icy sherry's also asking that question so.
A lot of you have that question on your mind. If you are concerned or curious or wondering about um, what's the situation now. An in the summer and in the fall about how the University is is planning to keep everybody safe and also um on track.
Um, in spite of COVID-19, listen carefully. This is for you, so here's what we know so far, and I'm being super honest and candid with you will.
San Lee
04:07:17 AM
Hi Cheuk Ying, you can see more info on SHIP coverage here: https://shcs.ucdavis.edu/resources/new-students/international
This is a really fluid situation. UC Davis is a research University, the University of California is known for research. We do the research for the state of California, so we're all about science or all about listening to the experts in in the medical field in the health field. And so we are taking direction from from that an hour first priority is making sure that students.
Are safe 1st and that we are doing everything that we can to make sure we are slowing down the spread of this virus and keeping our students and our staff healthy and that goes for our current students and you all the incoming students. So Having said that right now you see here is what you see Davis is doing for our current students. Everything as most of you might already know, if you're reading anything on our website are in the news. We as all.
Cheuk Ying Lo
04:07:56 AM
thank you!
Other universities are most other universities in the world have gone remote. We are now offering instruction online. I seen I see that's an has posted a really important website. She's she's going to post a lot of URLs for you today. If you want to know what's going on.
There is a remote instruction happening, so even our engineering students, if you are in labs an for your degree, the University is doing its best to send those students kids so they can complete even their home, their hands on labs at home, and so that's what the campus looks like. Right now we are still open for people to come to campus if if there are students that are local in California and they just want to wander around the UC Davis campus, we can still do that. It still.
Open it still beautiful. The weather is amazing right now. All of our essential staff is still out there doing their thing and working and an uhm taking care of campus and getting it prepared for fall quarter.
Shriya Goyal
04:08:59 AM
is there a possibility of doing the first term online
San Lee
04:09:13 AM
Anvita, UC Davis is a welcoming community, you can find more info on diversity ad inclusion on this website: https://diversity.ucdavis.edu/how-do-i/find-community
So in the fall right now the plan is to be open in person. There have not been any changes yet to that plan. what I can tell you is that because the University and the leadership of the University is monitoring the situation.
Anvita Johri
04:09:24 AM
great, thanks!
Jasmine Saluja
04:09:32 AM
so for us international kids, would that mean we would be doing a lot of night classes?
If there are any changes and if they shift the decision about whether or not uh open fully or open partially or have any remote options for our incoming students. You will be notified. We do our very best to make sure that students are aware and not in the dark if you don't know something, most likely it's because you have not been checking your email from UC Davis. So here's our first tip.
Cheuk Ying Lo
04:10:09 AM
Is it true that UC Davis is now accepting high school grades that are pass/fail instead of letter grades?
San Lee
04:10:15 AM
Shriya, you can send us an update through you MyAdmissions account regarding to possible delay of transcripts: https://myadmissions.ucdavis.edu/applicants/
If you receive any emails from UC Davis, open them, check them, read them. We do not send you emails haphazardly. We don't send you emails just to, um, clutter your inbox is, we send you emails to give you information and a lot of times we are giving you instructions to things that you have to act on or respond to. I see a lot of questions popping in the chat. I hope you're all.
Paying attention to the things that I'm saying, hang on, uh?
A lot of your questions are going to be answered as we go on.
Shriya Goyal
04:10:29 AM
thanks
Check some of the questions that you have submitted ahead of time.
There's a lot of questions about deferred enrollment, so if you're not aware.
Um, we have an option for students who think that maybe although they know they want to come to UC Davis, they want to get a degree from UC Davis. They may not be necessarily ready to join us on time in the fall, and they want to put that of- a little bit. They want to delay the enrollment they want to delay the point at which they come to California and enroll on campus and start their courses so you see, Davis is one of the few universities that gives you that.
Option we will let you defer your involvement between one term. For us, that means 1/4 up to a full year. A lot of you have had questions about different enrollment, so if this is you, pay attention to this answer.
The the way that you defer your enrollment is also through your my admissions account. We want you to go into my admissions after you when you see your your congratulations letter you're in and you, Sir, so you first have to accept your see at UC Davis. Once you do that, you will be given a hyper link. A link to defer your involvement if that's what you want. It's a very simple procedure. It's not a competitive process at all.
At all, it's just a form you need to fill out and you tell us how long you want to defer for the next question that we usually get is when can I decide what if? I'm not sure like I might want to defer? I might not want to defer. We will give you as long as up to the first day of instruction in the fall quarter to make that decision so you can take the entire summer to decide that you want to differ your enrollment.
That's plenty of time. Uhm, so you don't have to make any decisions right now, and that's basically it. An the only rule that we have if you if you choose to defer your enrollment, is that you're not allowed to enroll at any other institutions during that deferment time because you already announced an informed us that you want to be a UC Davis student. So we're holding your seat for you.
I hope that makes sense. Let me see what else we have in some of the submitted questions.
Aryaman Mangwani
04:13:32 AM
Is it possible for international students to get an undergraduate scholarship?
Lot of questions about coalbed about deferred enrollment and we talked about what's going to happen in the fall. I haven't mentioned this, so here's another thing that I want to talk about. They have already discussed that in the fall there will for sure be an option. An online option for at least are international students who cannot make it to California for whatever reason. They want to start their classes in the fall. They want to just be on track in terms of their progress like everybody else.
Anvita Johri
04:13:47 AM
will extending my SIR deadline affect my guaranteed seat?
But they can't come to California, so there will be a remote option. Right now they're calling it something cool. What's the name? Uhm, oh, they're calling it quarter on the cloud, which I think is cool a man. Basically they have compiled a list of around 40 courses that you're going to be allowed to take, and these are classes that everybody would have to take anyway during their first year or two. There part of what we call your general education requirements.
So you're you're not delaying yourself in anyway, there's no waste of time.
San Lee
04:14:23 AM
Anvita, deferring does not affect your admissions
On that, so at least are international. Students will have the option to do that. If you choose an, you wouldn't need to defer your enrollment. For that you would just be taking the quarter online. Anvita is asking a question in the chat, extending as IR deadline. Will extending the Sr deadline effect my guaranteed seat and San is answering you cool? Yeah, does not affect your see. It's all good, so I'm going to answer that as well. Just a little bit more in depth when you defer your enrollment.
You are not in any kind of disadvantage or delaye relative to other UC Davis students that started in person or online in the full. All the resources, all the stuff, all the services and expectations are still yours. It's just put of- for a period of time so you will still be engaged in orientation activities. You will still have the opportunity to register.
Anvita Johri
04:15:23 AM
okay what about guaranteed housing?
Fully for your classes and have all of the benefits of the staff and the campus resources. It's just put off so it absolutely does not affect impact or disadvantage. Your admission status or your enrollment situation, or what it would look like for you as a as a student.
Shriya Goyal
04:15:56 AM
Does deferment mean that I need to take extra classes to catch pace with the class of 2024?
Anvita is asking another question about guaranteed housing. Yeah, we will guarantee your housing on campus for the first 2 years. Uhm, we highly recommend that students live on campus because they're beautiful complexes and there's so many resources and that you would have access to if you live in the residence halls. Sometimes it includes tutoring occasionally. Professors will actually go out and teach classes at the rez holes.
The dining Commons are right there and they're super close to your lecture halls.
Anvita Johri
04:16:18 AM
sounds good!
That said, not all students want to live on campus an it's OK. You see, Davis is a college town, so even are off campus housing is still really close to campus within walking distance or biking distance.
Alright, let me check some of the other submitted questions.

There's a question also related to the kovid situation about the final exam. So um, a lot of students have had their exams. Their end of year, external exams cancelled, whether you're doing the British system, uh, if you're in an Indian curriculum, your your exams have been postponed. IB has cancelled his end of year exams. We know that we get that, and we're going to honor whatever those exam authorities have decided to do.
San Lee
04:17:23 AM
Hi Sheryl, we are still working on the possibility of online teaching, we will keep all our students updated once those info is available
Cheuk Ying Lo
04:17:33 AM
I'm in the process of requesting for my I-20 visa, through what method will UC Davis mail me my physical copy of the visa?
In terms of your final marks, uhm, so whatever. Whenever I be or or Cambridge or Edexcel or or Pearson or your India board. Um India boards have decided to generate your marks for you. Your certificates for you and those are available. We will expect for you to send those. We know that they will be delayed and the University of California has.
San Lee
04:17:55 AM
Cheuk Ying, your i20 will be mail to you via Fedex

Already, um, given us some guidelines for, um, what that flexibility looks like. But basically they're trying to be as understanding and accommodating as possible. I'm going to post a link for you right now, just to let you know what the University of California has done regarding all of those. Transcript an exam submissions. It's there in the chat you can see it. That's a really good website to read. Have your parents read it. It's pretty detailed.
Cheuk Ying Lo
04:18:20 AM
thanks!
For your high school transcript, we know that many, many students, their schools are just closed right now and they can't access their counselors, their teachers, their administrators, to get those documents, we get it, and we're waiting. So we will give you up till the first day of instruction to submit those transcripts to us, and we understand, um.
Let's see, uh, someone had a question about I 20s. Thanks San for answering that. Alright, I'm gonna see what else was submitted. We had a question about um.
What's the Davis community like? So I'm gonna try my best to paint a picture for you for what the Davis community is like let me just get it quick drink here.
Anvita Johri
04:19:22 AM
what are other options to apply for scholarship?
San Lee
04:19:23 AM
i20 will take about 4-6 weeks to get to you once you complete the request and once everything gets approved
So my favorite thing about Davis is that we are a college town and we're the only college town in the whole UC system, so that makes US special. The other uses know it and that said parents like the Davis campus a lot. So if you have parents, moms or dads or family members that are a little nervous about sending you so far away.
Cheuk Ying Lo
04:19:58 AM
thank you!
For University, the Davis campus is one that kind that kind of puts their their minds at ease because we're super safe. Super is student centered. Everything is pedestrian friendly. There are so many transportation options, you don't need a car to be in Davis to live in Davis to get around in Davis, and that is definitely a unique an important convenience that you won't find in a lot of cities in the United States.
What else can I tell you about Davis? It is a super fun, creative, eclectic hipster town. We have over 200 shops and restaurants. I'm just going to add that's an in case you didn't know is a UC Davis alumna should, so she had that entire student experience and as an expert about all of that from the student side.
Um, saying, why should type in the chat was your favorite thing about? Just like living in Davis?
San Lee
04:20:30 AM
The people!
San Lee
04:20:41 AM
and the community, very supportive and friendly
I let her give her give a chance to Santa other people. Yeah, people always say like when I ask them that question. What's your favorite thing about Davis is just uncanny like the first response that we get from so many people is just the community, the community, that community, an what that means. And a lot of times I think people can take this for granted because it's just who we are. Is that our community is special an unique in that we are super supportive, super friendly so.
San Lee
04:21:08 AM
Everyone are extremely smart yet down to earth and friendly
Anvita Johri
04:21:14 AM
what are opportunities for internships, co-ops and on campus jobs?
Each UC campus is a little bit different in our personality, but the thing that the UC Davis campus is known for is that we are the friendly campus. So no matter where you are in the town of Davis, people are going to say hello to you. They're going to ask you like how you are if you need any help. If you look lost, someone is going to guide you.
San Lee
04:21:27 AM
Anvita, as a public university, there are very limited scholarship available for international student, UC Davis is one of the few UCs that have that. Your UC application was served as a scholarship application, you would have gotten the notification

Anvita Johri
04:21:57 AM
thanks
Uhm, yeah. Uh. Also my favorite thing about Davis.'. It's in California and California is kind of awesome. We're enjoying some pretty breathtaking weather right now. The temperature I want to say Celsius is around 2728 degrees Celsius. It's just perfect an in spite of the orders to social distance and stay at home right now, as much as possible as to be safe and keep everybody else save.
We still try to have, uh, find opportunities to go out and enjoy the outdoors.
And that's something that our students definitely take advantage of as well. We have the Arboretum on campus. Which is this gorgeous forested area in the middle of campus that surrounds a Lake Ann. We have wildlife an it's just a really Zen peaceful space for students to hang out and eat. Lunch and study alright?
San Lee

A space on your my admissions portal to report changes, so listen carefully if there's anything that you're concerned about regarding your grades or how your grades will be reported on your final transcripts an whether or not those marks are going to match or be modified from the grades that you reported or were predicted and reported on your applications. We want you to talk to us.
Through the report changes website so um that's just an open space where you can type to us directly Annan evaluator will read it and get back to you with some advice.
Shriya Goyal
04:23:52 AM
in case of deferment, do we graduate later than the class?
Definitely an important one to to know and be aware of an you will find access to that from the link. I just posted an obviously from your my admissions website.
San Lee
04:24:31 AM
I graduated college in 3 and a half years with doing 2 year of summer classes
She is asking a question again about deferred enrollment. Do we graduate later than the class? So if you start a little bit later your your graduation will be a little bit later. There's ways to catch up. If you still want to graduate with with your the class of your original intake, and that's by taking summer classes that all UC Davis students have access to. That's another way to do it, so there's ways if you, when you start orientation activities, you're going to be connecting with an advisor.
And that advisor is going to help you map out your classes for the entire four years of your enrollment, and they can definitely help you find ways to to be on track to graduate with your class, and at least in time in four years.
San Lee
04:24:56 AM
Hi Jasmine, yes, the UC application asked if you was to apply for scholarship
Wow, Sam graduated in 3 1/2 years. I didn't know that's an your rock star.

So many so so many so you see, Davis has over 800 student clubs and organizations, so that should give you just a tip about or an idea of how easy it is to start a club if you're interested.

Hi, I joined this meeting a little late. I saw a question above about how the delay in the conduction of the final exams would eventually delay the grading and hence would delay the submission of the transcript. How would it affect my admission? I am from New Delhi, India btw.
A lot of time students have started clubs in their high schools and they want to keep that going at University. If you don't already find a club in our menu of 800 clubs at and you want to do something completely different, it's a very easy process to do that and you will find people to join an engage with you on that. We have something called the ASU CD. Associated students for UC Davis and they are the biggest.
And wealthiest student government in the United States. They are amazing and these are very powerful students an you can major in anything that you want an participate in our student government.
San Lee

what’s the process for changing majors
Um Smith are welcome. She is asking, uh, a joint a little bit late. I saw a question above about the delay and the UM conduction of the final exams would delay the grading and hence would delay submission of the transcript. How would it affect my admission? I'm from New Delhi, India, by the way.
Anvita Johri
04:27:50 AM
how hard is it to move from humanities to STEM majors
I think it's an and I have both been to New Delhi. We both went India. It's beautiful. It's not going to do it affect your admission. So so, uh, we understand that exams are are. Many of them were postponed. I think that India board exams for now. We don't have an exact date, possibly for when you will be sitting for those. But we know that they are planned. They have not been completely cancelled whenever you sit for them. Anna Anna Mark, she is generated and you have a final score.
For your India exams, we will honor that and receive them at that time. So we are not going to expect students to deliver things that are not available.
Um, where were very practical about that expectation?
Um, so it doesn't negatively affect your admission. It's not going to disadvantage you in any way way. We're just trying to be really flexible, impatient about all of these requirements. Uh, let me see. I'm gonna post a link for you snitch ramitas, since you just joined us to make sure.
You see what's happening?

Um question hi, OK stands already answering that awesome thanks.
Anvita Johri
04:29:04 AM
what are the most common majors at UCD?
Anvita is asking how hard is it to move from Humanities to stem majors? Not hard. So um, the beauty about studying in the United States is that, UM, there's so much flexibility you can really customize your field of study however you like. We don't expect that at age 17 and 18 students have already decided forever what they want to do the rest of their life. So we make it really easy for you to explore. And students here have the opportunity to double major if you want to put.
Um engineering and music together, or managerial economics and Spanish so you can double major. You can triple major. It doesn't even have to be in the same college so you see Davis is divided into colleges. We have over 100 majors that you can choose from an. All of these majors.
Anvita Johri
04:29:59 AM
also, could you explain AB degrees and BAS degrees? saw it on the IR webpage and I got a bit confused haha
Are housed under organized under.
Blocks within colleges. So we have the College of engineering, the College of biological science, the College of Agriculture and Environmental Science and the College of letters and science. I can absolutely major in something in a biological science and also something from letters and science I can major in minor an I can absolutely change my major so students the majority of our of UC Davis students will change their major at least once before they graduate. It's just super common.
San Lee
04:30:38 AM

Yeah, I changed my major back in the day. I mean is Super. It's just a common thing in the United States that you will find communications all away. San is a really good communicator. They taught her very well but she has her own innate skills to other questions guys.
If you're shy and you don't keep shooting questions at us, I'm gonna start asking you all questions. I love asking questions.
San Lee
04:31:15 AM
UC Davis is the only UC has a leadership minor
I'm looking at the list of ones that were already submitted.

Is it possible to join student groups online?
There is a question about signing up for classes. How do we sign up for classes? Can I take a music class even if I'm not majoring in music? Yeah, so we I kind of already touched on that. You can absolutely take a music class or or multiple music classes if you're not majoring in music. When we we require students to do general education, it means that you're going to be sampling courses from a lot of different subject areas. You will take classes in subjects that you never dreamed.
San Lee
04:32:05 AM
Cheuk Ying, many of our students use Davis airporter, Uber or Lyft

Have to or or be able to. We have a class and tractor driving that will teach you how to drive a tractor. Ann, if I'm a biological science major or I'm an engineering major, I can still take that class. You can absolutely take a music class. It's just from the list of elective courses that you have the opportunity to choose from.

04:32:52 AM
Hi Anvita, here's page for minimum progress each quarter: https://registrar.ucdavis.edu/faculty-staff/itg/minimum-progress
A man, then, how do you register for classes? So here this is important and it's about orientation. As soon as you Sir, you will be given a checklist again from your my admissions website. It will kind of keep you organized and on track and let you know all of the dates and deadlines. An document expectations that we have that you are required or an expected to provide to us before you enroll you will. You will also be.
Anvita Johri
04:33:03 AM
thanks
Given access to orientation, they will reach out to you to get you signed up for something called Aggie 101 which M is going to be like a series uh it's a um modules where you're going to learn about how to navigate the Davis campus and get you fortified with all of the information that you need to know what you're doing before you even get here. And part of that includes registering for classes.
Dan just posted something, I'm not sure that's no. That's something different. Uhm, so Sam, can you post for them? The orientation please. Orientation website.
San Lee
04:33:58 AM
Shriya, if you are in the International Whatsapp group, there are current students in there
San Lee

The Aggie 101 is going to teach you about how to register for classes an it's going to give you the opportunity and actually require you to make an appointment with an advisor or live appointment or you're talking one on one to an advisor to get you registered for those classes before you even come to campus. So um, there's a lot that students have to know and be able to do when they were in college and we don't want you to have to guess at it. We're going to do our best to give you the information so that you are in.
Shape and you feel like you've got, uhm.

Is it possible for international students to get an undergraduate scholarship?
Anvita is asking can you explain the AB and BS degree acronyms so we have a lot of acronyms. I'm wondering if there might even be a Glossary somewhere online or maybe even on our website to to define all the acronyms that we use on campus. The ones I know in terms of the academic part is that you BS is a Bachelor of Science. BA is a Bachelor of Arts BS, Bachelor of Arts and science.
So yeah, it just has to do with the type of degree that you're earning. I'll give you 1 example in psychology, so psychology is one of our most popular majors on campus. Uhm, you have the opportunity to do a Bachelor of Arts in psychology or a Bachelor of Science an when you are pursuing a Bachelor of Science. It just means that your degree will include more science stem classes.
Anvita Johri

04:35:56 AM
ok thanks, I want to connect to somebody in my major (STEM- chemical engineering)....
San Lee
04:36:18 AM
Hi Aryaman, as a public university, there are very limited scholarship available for international student, UC Davis is one of the few UCs that have that. Your UC application was served as a scholarship application, you would have gotten the notification. There will be smaller scholarships you can apply to once you arrive on campus base on major, interests etc, but to be honest they are smaller scholarships awards
And it is asking about international relations. Oh, that was my major. Uhm, yeah, I what I would suggest for you envy to an anybody who has a very specific question about their major or the majors that they're considering pursuing. You need to go to the UC Davis website, click on the tab for majors and you will see all the courses that you have to take and some background about the major. Some of the awesome and interesting research is that they're currently engaged in in.
San Lee
04:36:45 AM
Major blog: https://www.ucdavis.edu/majors/blog/
Not major, and then we also have a a website called the majors blague San. Can you please post for them? The uh, the URL for the majors blague if you have it, this is a cool site where you can look up your major and see all the interesting things that former students have done within that field of study. An where they have gone on in their careers in an all less access is that they've been having thanks Dan. There it is you guys. So definitely check that but.
Anvita Johri
04:37:01 AM
thank you!!
Any major specific questions keep in mind when we have over 100 majors, I'm not gonna have all the details and nitty gritty for each one of those. I know a lot about admissions, but each of those majors has its own professional full-time staff advisor, and they're the experts, and they're they're available now, so they are eager to connect with you. If you want to make an appointment with the major adviser for international relations or chemical engineering.
Anvita Johri
04:37:34 AM
lastly, could you give me some strengths and weaknesses about UCD :)
You can absolutely send them an email and and they will set up an appointment to talk to you face to face, one on one and give you all the in depth information about that what's being offered in that major.
And Visa, uh, could you give me some strengths and weaknesses about UC Davis? Weaknesses really?
Eashan Dubey
04:38:00 AM
If the fall term goes online, Is it still possible to join student groups?
OK, um strengths about UC Davis. We are ranked #5 in the country girl for UM, best public universities in the United States. Uhm, so we were consistently in the top 10. This is a research institution. So where we are one of the universities in the world that is currently working on a vaccine for coronavirus. We're in the news a lot, so if you lived in the United States and you turn on the television, you watch the TV news CNN.
San Lee
04:38:33 AM
If we do go online, it depends on the professors whether or not the class will be live or recorded
Anyone of those news outlets you will hear the name UC Davis alot and that's because of the important research that we do on our campus that leads to advancements in all different fields and industries.
Strengths again, I'm going to say it's our community and the collaborative spirit that we have. The collaborative culture that we have on campus. So even though we are admitting students who are at the tops of their classes an it's a very Brainy University. It's our students are really, really smart.
But they don't take themselves too seriously, and they're all about helping each other. Uhm, they know that they have access. They will all have access to internships, an research opportunities. It's what we do here were very undergraduate focused. Those opportunities are abundant, so we are. We don't worry about um competing against each other. We compete against ourselves to make each and everyone of us better, but.
San Lee
04:39:31 AM
Eashan, we are working on the plan for fall, and we are trying to stay engage online
We work together to make sure we're all excelling in advancing, so I think that's probably one of our biggest strings.
Jasmine Saluja
04:39:39 AM
can you change majors before you start at uc davis
I don't know. I'm seriously trying to think of a weakness.
We're kind of awesome at everything since I don't know if you were but a different thought about a weakness.
So lots of questions about on line.
Anvita Johri
04:40:03 AM
perfect, thank you so much for answering all my questions!!
Eashan Dubey
04:40:07 AM
Thanks
Instruction Jasmine is asking can you change majors before you start at UC Davis? Uhm, you're welcome in beta, so you cannot change your major yet. The only rule that we have is we want you to hang out for at least 1/4 before you change your major. That said, it's totally fine when you make. When you get your appointment with your advisor at orientation to tell them, just give him a heads up, say hey, this is the major that was on my application.
Smriti Acharya
04:40:50 AM
You can apply for deferments after you accept the offer?
I'm not really feeling it anymore. This is what I'm this is the major. I'm actually looking at right now or exploring and they will set you up with whatever classes would be in common for those majors that you're not wasting anytime and they will get you on track to actually switch over to the new major later on. But you have to wait for at least one quarter before that becomes an official change on your record.
1/4 is is it short period of time is only about 10 weeks so it goes. It goes by fast.
Jasmine Saluja
04:41:08 AM
okay thanks! how do you get in contact with an advisor?
Another question about deferred enrollment, can you apply for deferment? You're welcome judgment. Can you apply for deferment after you accept the offer? Yeah, you can only apply for deferment after you accept the offer. So first you have to Sir and then once you do that you'll see the opportunity to defer your enrollment. I mentioned earlier that you have up to the first day of instruction to tell us that you want to defer, so some students are thinking I want to just kind of hang out and write it out through the summer.
Aryaman Mangwani
04:41:48 AM
v
Not sure you know what the situation is gonna look like. I'm going to wait to see what the fall, uhm, uh. The fall plan is I'm going to wait to see how my family feels and then I want to decide if I want to stay home for another quarter or a little bit longer or I want to come to campus so we know that's a big decision. That's why we give you time to make it.
San Lee
04:42:08 AM
I would say our weakness would be Davis is a hard place to leave, I know it sounded cheesy but once I was used to all the friendliness in Davis, it took me awhile to get back to the real world
You can defer your enrollment from anywhere between one quarter Anna whole year.
Ahsan's got an answer to the weakness question.

A true King is asking you to the cover situation. When will you say is the ideal time to travel to Davis? I don't know. I have to be super honest about that. We're all just waiting and hanging out and watching the situation closely.

Uhm, I will just say that orientation Anan in terms of your your I-20. We don't want you to arrive on campus more than like a month or or arrive in Davis more than one month before your classes actually start. Some students when I come a little bit early just to get get acquainted with the city and with California and and figure out their living situation for us, you do have time to do that, but I have no idea what to advise you in terms of.
Went to book your tickets.

Part of our job means that we we travel around to different countries and we visit schools and we get normally. We get to do what we're doing here, um face to face. So this is this is different for us. We're getting used to it, but it's not our favorite favorite. Our favorite thing is engaging with students and and schools and parents in person face to face. So yeah, we're we're all missing that part of our job and missing just getting out there and being in your countries and.
