So give it at least one more minute just to make sure, and then that way we can still come, you know, make sure everybody is here and ready to ask us some questions we're going to hopefully have enough time at the end to really go into those, UM FAQ or common questions that you may hear, or situations that you get from students in regards to the tag. Since this month is tag Submission Month for our students.

Alright, so I'm going to go over through some housekeeping so this session is going to be recorded and that will be shared on our events home page. So the same page you used to register for this event is where this recording will be housed. In addition, if you'd like to have closed captioning, you have that option to go to the top right hand corner of your screen. You should see in icon with two season it and that will give you close.

Captioning in the chat area. Just keep in mind because it is doing an auto close captioning. It may not be 100% accurate, and then of course I am joined by two of my colleagues also in the UC Davis Admissions Office, so will be taking turns presenting, but Christy will be monitoring the chat, so if you have any questions feel free to put him in there. But like I said will also be answering questions at the very end in the live Q&A format. So with that I'm going to go ahead and get started. So good morning everyone.
Thanks again for your participation. My name is Letizia and I work for the East Davis Admissions Office team and let's just go ahead and jump right into it.
So today we're going to be covering a little bit about Davis, so if you work with students who may be interested in Davis all the time, you probably know a little bit more about us. But for some of our community colleges, who may be, you know, getting their foot in the door in terms of knowing who we are as a campus, we wanted to give you a little bit of a profile before we jump into the actual tag program, and then we'll go into the tag. What is the requirements? And some more specifics on the program. And then we're going to go.
And jump into how to help your students get prepared and we're going to wrap up the presentation with resources before opening it up to Q&A.
So a little bit about us. We are the northernmost music campus located about 20 minutes away from the state capital of Sacramento, about two hours away from San Francisco. Depending on traffic of course, and then about two hours away from Lake Tahoe as well. So we like to say we are in a pretty centralized location for our Northern California location, and so our students are able to take advantage of several industries in the area. And those connections that come with jobs and potential.
Internships as well. We are known as a big agricultural school and so if you've ever heard of Davis, even in your preliminary UM, starting off in your career, you may have heard that we're big agricultural school were big on the animal sciences, and that is true. You'll see that some of our highest rankings are in those areas, but mind you, we do have over 100 different majors on campus and most of our popular meters are actually outside of our agricultural and environmental sciences.
And then overall we are ranked 5th best public university. Actually the newest rankings just put us at #4 so we are pretty proud of the fact that we are offering a lot of opportunities for our students.
So now we're going to jump into our tag program, so uhm, most of you are probably familiar with what the tag program is. We wanted to give you a quick overview.
Tanya Mcginnis
11:05:18 AM
Good morning! Tanya, Antelope Valley College
So our tag program is also known as the transfer admission guarantee, and it is opened at six out of the nine UC campuses and what this program allows students to do is if a student applies under a specific major to one of these six campuses under A tag, that student has a guarantee to attend that campus.
If they are meeting and continuing to meet the tag requirements throughout the end of their academic year before transfer.
Student has six different options to choose from, but they can only submit A tag to one of our campuses, so they can't have a guarantee to all six.
And then we are very proud of the fact that our campus is able to evaluate and release are tagged decisions by the middle of November, allowing our students to go ahead and know where they stand even before submitting the UC application by November 30th. So there has been a change this year and that is that our computer science major in the College of Letters and Science is no longer open to tags. So that is our only major that is close to tag. It is still open to general admissions, but.
Every student who is interested in this major will have to apply.
Stephanie Ramos
11:06:24 AM
Good day wishes from Ohlone College
Just through our UC application in November, so that is a change that just started this fall.
So here we have our regular selection, or a general admissions process that is done through our UC application in November on the left hand side and then on the right hand side you'll see the requirements for our tag program, which is due at the end of this month, September 30th and so we wanted to give you kind of a comparison. So when you're advising your students and they're still unsure about what route to choose, they have something to guide them in regards to where they stand.
Uhm, or how to plan accordingly if they already know they would want to do at UC Davis tag for example, so you'll see here on the regular section we will actually on both sides. We have a GPA requirement. We have a, you know we have unit requirements. We have course requirements and then enrollment requirement is going to be something that's actually pretty different from A tag applicant. And the general admissions applicant.
Tanya Mcginnis
11:07:32 AM
very useful comparison chart!

11:07:33 AM
Greetings from Team Ohlone!
So starting off on our tag side on the right hand side, since this is A tag webinar, we are asking for an overall 3.2 GPA and all of our majors outside of our College of Engineering.
Ashley Martinez
11:07:52 AM
Good Morning from Moreno Valley College :)
The College of Engineering will ask for a 3.5 overall GPA, so keep in mind that that overall GPA is anything that is trans UC transferable as listed on assist.org and then for certain majors known as selective majors, we will have an additional GPA requirement in major preparation courses. So sometimes if a student is a selective major, for example in engineering.
Then they will have to do something like a 3.5 overall GPA and then they will also have to have a 3.5 GPA and just made major preparation courses so students may have multiple GPUs to infer depending on a major being selected.
Going down to the units requirement so.
We see that our tag is going to have three different unit requirements in there, broken down a little bit differently. When a student submits their tag in September, they need to have at least 30 UC transferable units, so those units should have been met by the end of the summer of 2021.
Students also have to complete at least 60 units all the way through the end of spring of 2022. If they go over that, that's totally fine for all students have been attending California community colleges. There are some exceptions for students who may have attended outside institutions, and we can definitely.
Address those issues at the end of the Q&A, but if a student has only attended a California Community College, then going above that sixty semester unit requirement is totally OK. And then out of that total 60 we want at least 30 of those units to come directly from in California Community College. So even if a student has a lot of AP exams or they have coursework outsider but California Community College, they need to have at least 30 from a California Community College to qualify.
Moving down to courses. So this is one area that's pretty similar across tag and our general missions, but both routes actually required the seven course pattern.
The main difference here though, is that tag requires the two BC English courses and the one you see math course to be completed no later than the current fault term. So fall of 2021 for our students applying through the general admission route, you'll see that they have until spring of 2022, so they have an additional term to finish the seven course pattern specifically pertaining to the English in the math.
And then both, UM, the tag and general Missions route will actually allow for student, well, requires things to finish selective major requirements. By the end of spring of 2022. And this again is only applicable for soon to have selective majors. If they're a non selective major, they will not have to worry about major preparation being done by the last term.
And lastly, what I would say is one of the largest differences between the general admission process and the tag process is that enrollment requirements for tag we are looking at the last three regular semesters for full time enrollment and full-time enrollment being defined as 12 units or higher.
So we would be looking at spring of 2021 all the way through some spring of 2022 for our students applying this upcoming year. Summer term is optional, so we never look for summer term enrollment. But in this even in this case, when we are saying we are looking for full time enrollment in those last three semesters, we do make some case by case exceptions for part time status. So anything below 12 units there is a section in the tag application where the student can explain.
Their part time enrollment, so they should be taking that opportunity to explain it so that we know and we can make an exception for them.
And like I said, it's different on the general mission side. So for general admissions we are not looking for any particular type of enrollment. So if the student wants to take a gap year, if a student is enrolled in a non California Community College institution, that is going to be fine. That's not a factor that will affect their admission.
So moving on to our tag timeline. So this is the timeline for students and we are, you know, we break it down in three steps, so that way it's easier for them to understand how to go about the process. But the first step is first thing to create a UC tab, so that's our transfer admission planner in this planner. Apart from it being a great tool for any student who's interested in the tag program.
It's a good way to get advising across the system, so it's a nice tool for that, because the student can actually get a lot out of it if they have it even before they submit their tag in September. But eventually that app does become the tag application, so they do need to create this planner if they are hoping to supply us with A tag application.
Patricia Garcia
11:13:29 AM
At the end please provide reasons you would considered for exceptions for attending part time the last semester?
Uhm, so after that they have the entire month of September to submit their tag applications. So from September 1st through the 30th there's no application fee with the tag, there are no essays or personal insight questions, PA cues and this option is only for students who are interested in tag. If you talk to a student and they know they do not want to submit A tag, they do not have to create, they do not have to submit the tag and then the third piece.
Which is applicable to all of our students interested in applying to UC is to submit the UC application by November 30th and so the student can create an application beforehand. Actually starting as early as August, but November is the submission month, and that's when they can officially send it to campuses.
This application is a different link and it requires a few different things from the tag application, mostly that there is an application fee per campus and there are personal insight questions that the students to write.
So if a student is hoping to do A tag, they need to submit both the tag application in September and the UC application in November.
Christy Blaine
11:14:21 AM
Part-time enrollment can be due to working full-time, caring for parents, children, etc.
Irina Rivkin
11:14:31 AM
Q (for the end) re: PT status. If a student has already met transfer requirements, so don't need full-time enrollment status, and also have a disability, is it ok for them to attend part-time? Would either of these reasons be sufficient on their own? Would a reduced load letter from an accessibility counselor help?
So now that we've gone over the tag requirements and the tag timeline for students, UM, you know what is your role as A tag counselor, right? So you actually have the option of reviewing tags and providing a recommendation to the UC campus before the use of campus reviews, the tag and release its admission official admission decisions through the type, and so you actually, your Community College is opted in.
Christy Blaine
11:15:07 AM
Yes, this is a reason for PT status. We can review this at the end of the presentation.
Automatically into our process to review the tags, but you haven't talked over first to actually let us know if you want to opt out or if your school is opting out of the process, you should have received an email from your UC Davis transfer contact, and if not, we have that link and resource available where you can reach out to us directly to let us know if you are opting out. That way we can start reviewing them earlier and we don't have to.
You don't have to worry about them in filtered into a queue.
But we do recommend opting in if possible, just because you know your students a lot better than us because you've had a lot more FaceTime with them in most cases, and so you're able to keep out. And I for special circumstances when you're looking at their application, maybe you know that a student is part time in one of the three semesters we're looking for because they were working full time, but this didn't provide any explanation, so you can go back and actually send it back to the student to provide an explanation before we even look at it, and so that.
Could be something that really helps a student application when we are reviewing them officially.
So this is actually the counselors timeline for tag and it coincides a little bit with the student one, but we have some internal processes right? So of course in the month of September students are submitting their tag.
So in the month of September, students are actually able to.
To meet their tag, and they can even withdraw their tag, make edits, and resubmit it again as many times as did like in the month of September. But once October 1st hits around comes around, then counselors are the only ones who can return A tag to his student. So it's very important for students understand that timeline. If you're talking to them about, oh, you know, maybe they made a mistake, but if they made a mistake, they're able to fix it in September once October rolls.
Around you know you will have to work with the student to send it back to them.
Uh, and in the month of October, I mean, we have our opt out deadline October 1st and then actually between October 1st and October 15th. This is actually the window when you can return A tag to a student to make any edits. In addition to reviewing all the tags that are coming in.
November 15th tends to be around the date where we release our tag decisions, so you'll see that our students will get emails letting them know to check their top portal to see what their tag decision was. Students can't appeal decisions, but if there has been an error that we find out about on our end and then they should give us a call so that we can try to rectify it so that their admission decision is accurately reflecting that and then of course.
The student should be submitting and working towards submitting the UC application by November 30th.
Cheryl Latimer
11:17:54 AM
I know you plan on posting this webinar, but would it be also be possible to get a copy of the slides? Thank you!
So with that we are going to transition into getting how to get your students prepared and I'm actually going to have my colleague is saying a jump in to do this portion, but hopefully that clarified a bit of the logistical side of the tag program and we're going to hopefully give you some more reminders on how to.
Evaluate the applications if you are opting in or also going over some FAQ in situations for our students.
All right, you're saying it's all yours.
Christy Blaine
11:18:29 AM
We will post this webinar, but unfortunately, we are unable to share the power point slides.
Hi everyone, I'm using Volosko and wanted that admissions advisors. It's kind of like what Leticia does. I do the same thing so I'm really happy to be here. I see a lot of familiar names on their end, everyone else. I'm very nice to meet everyone. I'm going to go ahead and get covering getting students prepared and what that looks like in a timeline.
So.
Not sure why I can't switch slides.
Letizia.
Keys.
You'll want to hit the arrows on the top.
Yeah it it's not OK. There we go, sorry.
So in regards to UC Davis tag requirement timeline. So here we're going to look at the timeline at what it takes to have that GPA during certain times. So at the end of summer 2021 for students that are submitting attack this year, they must have a 3.2 GPA for the exception of engineering, which is a 3.5 have this 30 semester units or the 45 quarter units completed by the end of summer 2021 because they're submitting their tag through September 1st. All of those requirements must be completed by the end of summer.
Ysaura Suarez
11:19:58 AM
Is this session recorded? will we get a copy? Can we have a copy of the ppt? thank you
Now AP is also case of a student has for example 27 semester units and they have an AP English that they took in high school then that would complete their their units up to 45 quarter units. September 21st. Kind of what latesha covered. This is when the student is completing the task application which will include spring 2022 schedules. Please make sure students are inputting their courses through spring 2022, although they may be projecting those.
Courses we want to make sure that we're also taking those courses in consideration because those units are going to reflect of how many semester units are going to have at the end of spring and now when it comes to.
Christy Blaine
11:20:27 AM
Yes, the presentation is being recorded we will let you know how to get a copy at the end of the presentation.

Is it possible to make the slide screen bigger? I can't read the slide as of right now
I'm going to get a little bit ahead, but in January when they come to updating those courses it is OK for them to change the courses that they probably had just projected. The only ones we are not wanting them to change. If we have contacted them for specific courses, those you want to make sure they're keeping on their application now in November 2021 is when they are submitting their UC application and but then this is also the time where we are releasing our tag in mid November.
Christy Blaine
11:21:12 AM
For making the power point slider bigger, I believe would be on your end?
And this is a good opportunity for students to also take a look at the courses or the contract that we provided to them. Maybe? Let's say they didn't get their target approved for not meeting the unit requirements, right? So now this student has the opportunity. Once they submit their use the application to add an extra course to their UC application and now is at that 60 mark.
So this is a really good chance for a student to actually know. Hey, This is why we're not able to offer you that tag, but here's an opportunity for you, kind of too.
Change whatever you need to change to be able to submit a UC application at the end of fall 2021. This is when we are having students complete their two English composition courses and their one transferable math, and so we understand that in September 1st the 30th, the student still has those courses may have those courses in progress, but they must be completed with the letter grade by the end of fall 2021 with the secret or passing.

Perfect. Thank you so much.
January 2022 is when they update their application. Like I mentioned, this is when they're able to provide us with the grades that they received in the fall, but then they will also make sure that they are updating this if there are any changes to their courses in spring, or if they're simply is, it remains the same. They still need to make sure that they provide us with that update so that we have the more the most accurate information on their application.
Ysaura Suarez
11:22:41 AM
I tried full screen view but the slide is still small, when the presenters switched the view
In April to June 22nd June 2022. I'm sorry you see at emissions decisions and are released and this is when are served. Deadlines are also when the student needs to submit their. Yes, I want to go to UC Davis documents for, for example, AP scores since they if they are adding those to their application then they must submit those as well and those are by July 15th.
Christy Blaine
11:23:01 AM
Try the four arrows in the far right corner to make the screen larger.
Then again, just to reiterate, the end of spring 2022, the student must have those 60 semester units or 90 quarter units from a California Community College, so the time when they submit their tag, the 30 don't have to be from the specific California Community College, but within those six they they must have at least 30 that are coming from a California Community College and also making sure that they're completing their major preparation courses.
So here are some questions that you may ask yourself when you're talking to students or that are just friendly reminders for yourself is if your student has a major selective. Is a student meeting those specific requirements for that selected major. Again, just a reminder, computer science is only available for general admission. I kind of want to touch on this a little bit more just because we do have students that really want to do computer science, but because they want to submit A tag, they're changing to computer science.
In engineering now we are advising students that if they really want to do computer science to go ahead and just submit that regular UC application as a computer science major.
Number two, does your student have at least those 30 semester units ordered 45 quarter units completed through summer 2021. Again, this may include eight P.
Three, does your student have the two English composition courses? The one transferable math by the end of fall 2021.
Does your student have this 60 semester units or the 90 quarter units by the end of the spring 2022 plant on their application? So this is another kind of like.
For you to kind of see if they actually have those courses through through spring 2022, and we're going to get into some of the evaluation stuff a little bit later on, but this is kind of where you kind of get that of yes, my student will complete those 60 semester units or the 90 quarter units.
Sandra Parsons
11:24:51 AM
If student completes their first 30 units out-of-state, submit a TAG in September, but then complete their last 30 units at a CCC then would they be eligible?
And five, don't forget to remind them to also submit the UC application in November. You'd be surprised how many students we get, how many calls we get from students in April or May, saying they never received a decision from us, and that's because they probably forgot to submit their UC application. So please, please remind your student that they do need to complete that you see application in November.
So we're going to go ahead and start with some of the evaluation reminders, so I'm going to go ahead and cover AP and IB limitations, so these are some of the common evaluation errors that we see when we're going through our tags AP and Community College course limitations. the PE and theory limitations partial credit out of sequence courses, repeats, and language other than English, so we are going to go a little bit more in depth in terms of AP and IB.
Limitations so.
One thing is our AP chart is actually current right now, so you're more than welcome to come.
Christy Blaine
11:26:09 AM
You must be enrolled at a CCC for the spring term prior to applying.
Leticia Garay
11:26:20 AM
UCD AP Chart: https://local-resources.ucdavis.edu/local_resources/docs/APIBCharts/APCurrent.pdf
If Christy wants to put the link in there in regards to our AP chart and IB chart, so this is where you go and review these charts right when evaluating exams. Some subjects will only allow for credit for one. Examine same subject, for example here on this picture we see that there's English language and composition, which is with a score of five and then we have English literature and composition with the score of four and so here we're going to be taking the highest score.
And limiting the second course that the the second English composition course that they're taking.
Sandra Parsons
11:26:40 AM
Okay great, thanks:)
Uhm, and the reason for this and it's going to be a major factor when they're when you're looking at this, because this may affect their units. Once it does come and they're thinking they have the 60 semester units, including AP exam. So just kind of like a friendly reminder to kind of check the limitations with AP.
Irina Rivkin
11:26:57 AM
If a student takes more classes than the ones on their plan, and that puts them above 80 units, does that risk the TAG being rescinded (if the majority of their units are CCC units, but they have over 10 from 4-year Universities from long ago)? And if a student finishes over 60 units, and all major requirements and IGETC in the Fall, how many units minimum must be on their Spring 2022 plan to remain eligible?
Again, the scores for qualifying exams are three, four, or five with AP and IB is 5/6 and seven.
Some of the courses may also articulate to some of the courses at UC Davis, so students cannot get credit for the both exams and select college courses. For example, here we're going to cover again.
Christy Blaine
11:27:45 AM
Irina, this is when we would like the student to complete a TAP, so we can see an entire picture of the student and their units.
The English, so more on the English AP. I think this is one of the most common ones that we we see when students kind of think that they're at the 60 and then all of a sudden because we're limiting English courses there below the 60 semester units, or 90 quarter units. So eight quarter units maximum AP English students will receive credit for one AP English again, either later language with a score of three or higher, a score of three in English will count towards one you see English.
Ronald Zimmerman
11:27:52 AM
How does the three full time semester requirement affect students who finish high school with 30 or more units but only attended full time for the last two semesters.
Christy Blaine
11:28:17 AM
They will just indicate that on their UC TAG.
Composition course in our seven course. Pattern requirement. Out of those two English composition course. Now if the student receives a score of 405 in English language or literature, it will count towards one. You see English course but this also articulates our UC Davis English writing English three or a writing three, which again we do not duplicate credit and so same courses we will be limiting too.
One, so here I would.
Kind of like.
Go in to assist and look at the articulation for your specific campus so that you know exactly if that score of three a score of four or five is equivalent to the course that the student is taking. This is kind of an example, let's say at Laney College they took and I don't know the specific English so just bear with me. So let's say the student got a score of five.
Leticia Garay
11:29:13 AM
@Ronald- To add on to that, the student should have been enrolled at least part-time at a CC in the spring prior to TAG submission
Curling Laney college. They took English 101 now that English 101 is so now they're thinking they have the two English composition course because of the AP and because of the English 101 because that English 101 is equivalent to our UC Davis English three, we will only be given credit for one, so make sure that you are all kind of being aware of the limitations with in English so that your students not short in units. And if they are, this is a chance for you to kind of send back that that English.
And not sent send back the application to the students so that they can add another course to make sure that they're meeting those units and their meeting the English requirement as well.
Let's go into RP in theory limitations, so student can only earn up to four semester units of PE credit, so also looking out for if the student took five, limiting one and this is different than the theory. So theory is also something that you want to look up on assistive. This is a a student took course and you're thinking well. Looks like a PE course, but I'm not sure. Just make sure you're all looking at you guys are experts.
But this that you're looking at a system that you're.
Making that differentiating the the the P credit and the theory credit. So because this semester, the theory credits eight semester units. They are allowed up to 8 and so they will have if they have four of the semester and eight of the of the theory credit, they're able to do both of them.
And now let's go on to partial credit and limitation. So as this.org is my best friend and this is where I look up. A lot of the limitations as well when I'm evaluating tag applications and you regularly use the application, so assist our org will list the credit allowed within that specific course. For example, one of the main ones that we see in terms of partial credit and limitations is precalculus, and so sometimes.
We will see courses at R6 units at a specific Community College will. If that's the case, then that student can only earn up to five semester units. Another one that I see pretty common is the D answer. The Foothill that they have precalculus 4142 and 43. At that point, we only accept that 7.5 quarter units for pre calculus.
So making sure that you are all looking at limitations in regards to just pre calculus is one of the better ones within the UC system. And then here we see an example of Las Positas Community College with admin of justice. So here you'll see on the picture that it has a little asterisk Edmond 41 and Adam and Justice 60 is only allowed up to Court One course. So if the student took both you would go ahead and limit to one whatever the highest.
It kind of depends. Also we kind of look at this in different ways. So if a student needs the units you would provide if it was different if one was through semester one was for, you would provide the student with the most units because they need the units. If the student is, you know it's the same amount of units, 3 units and three units. Once in Aorn Oribe want to make sure that you're benefiting the student, providing them with that eight. With that eight option.
Or at the highest grade. So this just a little bit in regards to partial credit and limitation.
Ronald Zimmerman
11:32:28 AM
Ok - makes sense. We have many students earning credit via dual enrollment and want to transfer after just one full year at CC.
Now this is the one that gets a little tricky, so there out of sequence right the outer sequence. There are three subjects that are considered sequential in the UC system chemistry language other than English and math. It was student has earned a dear higher grade and higher level course. They cannot go back and take a lower level course in the same subject. We do have some examples, so gun rocked earned a deer higher in calculus one or chemistry one.
Or I mean sorry calculus, two chemistry, two or Spanish level 2 gunrock cannot go back and take calculus one because they already received a D or higher in calculus.
How we kind of, you know, provide that is, if a student received an F grade, they can go back and retake it because at that point the student does not have any knowledge whatsoever of that specific course. But here the student is already is that they had some sort of understanding in the calculus course.
Sandra Parsons
11:33:29 AM
So, for that high school student, if they are taking at least one class concurrently in spring and then came to CC this summer or fall, would they be okay to apply for TAG?
And therefore they cannot go back, because now that course is at its sequence.
Number two Gunrock first passed AP Spanish with a score of four. This exam is equivalent to UC Davis, Spanish 22 and 22.
Gunrock cannot get credit for taking any college courses. Articulates to UC Davis, Spanish 21 or twenty 2022 because that student has already passed the AP English. I mean, the AP Spanish that was a score of four, which is equivalent to UC Davis, Spanish 22.
Christy Blaine
11:34:08 AM
Sandra we will answer this one live.
And the third example that we have here is gone, rocked earned AD in calculus, chemistry and Spanish level 1.
Sandra Parsons
11:34:32 AM
OK
Gunrock then earns an F in calculus chemistry, Spanish level 2 gunner and can't go back and retake the level one course. Remember a deer high will will seal sequential classes. Like I mentioned, they already has some sort of knowledge to that course, and soon as cannot go back and take the lower level in the same sub subject in math, chemistry and foreign language, those are the three main ones that are sequential and that need to make sure that they're not. If they are not having if they have that D.
And make sure that you're advising them to retake that course first before they move on to the second series or the second course in that series.
Now let's move onto repeats.
Irina Rivkin
11:35:20 AM
Thanks re: the Gunrock example -- if he got a D in Calcullus 2, he can't get credit for Calculus 1 afterwards, but he can take it for his own knowledge without getting credit for it, correct?
And so this is another one that, in terms of repetitions, so we're a repeat course that has been completed with this C -- D or F students can. Here's another example for Fall 2019 a student took Chem 1A. They received an F, but then went and retook spring. In spring 2020, Chem 18 again and they received a seat. Now because the student retook it didn't go on to Kim 2A.
They were still able to get their receiving credit for that see, we do not combined. We make sure that we provide that that first passing grade.
Students can also repeat courses with the grades mentioned above from other institutions. Accept you see this is a main rule within the UC system AUC course that is taken at a UC. Cannot be repeated at a Community College. All you see courses must be repeated at the UC that they took it. So here the University of Washington Chem 1A is equivalent to serious camp 2A. The student took it in fall 19.
They received an F but whenever we took it at Sierra College and received a seat, they're able to retake that because, again, this student did not took it elsewhere, and we're saying, yes, that course is equivalent to University of Washington and its equivalent at Sierra, so that student able to get credit for that C grade in chemistry to a.
Christy Blaine
11:36:44 AM
Yes, the student can not get credit for Calculus 1 afterwards, that D grade in Calculus 2 - grade points are awarded.
Students can also take a course where AP exam credit has been given if the exam allows it, and this is a per campus rule. So if you're kind of like if you about it in terms of AP credit you are, I would recommend reaching out to that specific campus.
Students cannot though, so again repeat AUC course outside of you seen. So the student took a UCLA chem, one a course which is again equivalent to see risk M28. So in fall 2019 UCLA they received an F grade. They went to retake it at Sierra College because they're trying to get a better grade. The student would actually receive credit for both, why? Because again, that you see course cannot be repeated outside of EU C.
But the student did take it and received a passing grade, so we're saying yes there. There somewhat equivalent, and we're going to be able to grant them both credit. Now, if the student went and took it at UCLA and got a D grade and then went to Sierra College and got a B grade, we would not be given credit for Sierra. College is B grade we would be providing them with the degrade from UCLA.
Students cannot fill the first course in a sequential series. Take the second Ernie D grade or higher and then go back and repeat the same course.
Repeat the first course, so for fall 19 the student took chem. One day they got an F grade.
Went to spring 2020, took LMB and got a D grade. Now this student is kind of well. I need that series two, no transfer they can't unfortunately and go back and they would receive no credit for that chem 18 because again they advanced to chem 1B with first not passing that Kim 18 course.
Taylor Harmon
11:38:44 AM
What happens then with students who are disqualified academically from the UC and are told to go to a community college and show academic progress and re-take some of those non-passing classes at the CC, they cannot use it to re-apply to the UC's?
I know it gets a little tricky and it's a lot, but we want to make sure that you know you just have these things in mind because it can be that make it or break it. For a student that is possibly you know what I'm thinking that they have that extra course, but we're not going to be now when it's our time to evaluate. We're not giving credit to them because of this specific reason, so just kind of be aware of these different scenarios that may happen because I know you all get different transcripts from.
Different places, and so just, you know, just send FY I as well in these repeats.
Now let's move onto language other than English. Low tea is based off the students language of instruction, which is what we call alloy language of instruction taught in the school.
Christy Blaine
11:39:24 AM
The student needs to work with that same UC and apply for readmission at that same UC to be placed back into good standing.
In the school, in the full ninth grade of high school, if their ninth grade low, I was we're going to have an example of China, like Chinese, and they would not be able to receive any AP credit or lower Division College course in the same language subject. So rule does not apply to students who did short term study abroad in another country. Credit is still allowed for Upper Division language coursework and lower division literature coursework. So here we have an example.
If a student attended a school in China through 9th grade and then went and attended a school in the US 10th and 12th, 10th through 12th grade, the student took AP Chinese language. The student would not receive any credit for that AP Chinese language because their language of instruction in 9th grade was Chinese.
Karina Lopez
11:40:16 AM
To make sure I am understanding correctly: If student take a class @ a UC and gets a D or F, then they must repeat the course at ANY UC Campus. They can not repeat the class outside of UC system. If they do, it will not count.
The student, though, if they were to take the AP Chinese literature and Culture exam, they would be able to be granted credit, or they took an Upper division course in language. They would also be able to be granted that specific the units and the grade or the AP exam.
So again, just just kind of another place to kind of look as if their language of instruction. It's something else outside of English, and they took that course.
Another one that we get Spanish if their language of instruction is Spanish and they went in. Took Spanish one at which is dumb.
Now they in language of instruction for that student was Spanish. They will not receive receive credit for that AP Spanish.
Christy Blaine
11:41:03 AM
Yes, a D/F grade from a UC course must be retaken at the UC to replace that D/F grade.
So we're going to go ahead and now cover through your resources. So what we have for you, we definitely want to make sure that you're well prepared and well equipped. So here we have the UC tag website for the tag criteria. There are some few changes, like Leticia mentioned, we are no longer offering computer science as A tag major. Some of this left a major criteria must be completed also one that I one question that I get a lot is the biology series.
In terms of the.
Having that B minus grade at the time so all the GPS that we get our at the time of tag. So the student, if they're in progress for the second course or third course, then they must have that GPA at the time that they're tagging. So for biology, chemistry or calculus in the biology, if they have that one course, they must have a B minus or higher grade in that specific course to be able to meet that tag requirement. Now for a regular UC applicant.
They can have. We can project for the second one, but at the time for specifically for tag it needs to be that B minus. So for selected major requirements we do have the website here that you're more than welcome to kind of just go through. It's been updated. So if you do catch anything please let us know. That kind of looks funky or doesn't make sense. You're more than welcome to to let us know your UC Davis contact so we should have already reached out. I personally am this Central Valley contact but you can go to the counselor context.
And have your specific tag and transfer in specific. So it's just general before it was just Chad. We would have our tax schools, but now we extended it to not just the tag, but we're going to be with you throughout the whole UC application cycle.
Uhm, and there's other other counselor resources on here as well that you're more than welcome to take a look at as well.
And then we also have the UC admissions website, so for all other information in regards to admission.
Majors or any of that great stuff that's on our admissions website as well.
Christy Blaine
11:43:30 AM
Karina to clarify...student gets a D grade at UCDavis, they can retake that course at another UC to replace. It does not need to be completed at the same UC.
So using the UC tap to review tags PDF with instructions on UC tab for pre evaluation we would also be able to provide there. It should be on the website or going to be providing it to you and the UC Davis on alternative majors. So there is a specific.
Website that we have also so for students that are kind of like stuck in those main majors such as like psychology or many con or econ. Any of that sort of majors that you're kind of trying to get them away from that we do have alternative majors at the student are able to do. We actually have a webinar that we're going to be hosting as well in terms of like how to you know what other majors are out there that our students are not like considering and they're almost similar to the majors that they're looking into.
Again, some of these majors might be selective. Some of these majors may not be selective, so also taking a look at that as well.
Here we have a few QR codes. Again, the alternate majors for students. There's the Google Drive or tap evaluation tips for counselors. The QR code is on there as well, and then R UC Davis events. Webinars that are coming up that you're more than welcome somewhere specifically for counselors in summer, but more specifically for transfer counselors or just students in general. We're also trying to, you know, brought it up a little bit of our webinars so we're not just doing UC Davis webinars specific. We're actually trying to be more of the, UM.
College going environment. We're trying to provide them with a lot of the resources and we're trying to provide them with tools and tips that they can use. Once they do attend any university that they like.
So now we're going to go on to.

Can the Engineering GPAs be updated on the TAG selection criteria? On the bottom is states the higher GPA for Fall 2022 TAG. I have had many counselors and students confused between the two GPAs listed.
Our questions thank you everyone. I see a lot of questions on there during my presentation, so I'm not sure what questions we'd like to answer, like TSM.
Irina Rivkin
11:45:08 AM
Regarding resources -- is it possible to please post links in the chat (we can't copy and paste from "share screen". Thanks!
Yeah, so uh, my thanks everybody for bearing with us for this entire session. We did have quite a bit of questions or regards to the enrollment status or the enrollment requirement for tag as it pertains to recent or newly graduated high school students. And so one question, we wanted to enter live was.
You know, for high school students if they are taking at least one class concurrently in the spring when they're graduating from high school, and then they come to the Community College for summer or fall, would they be able to apply for tag?
And so for that question, I can go ahead and answer and so the rule of thumb for our new for our students who are in high school is that they have to be enrolled at least part time at a California Community College in that spring semester while they are finishing their high school diploma as well. So let's say for this particular year, a High School graduate who graduated in June of 2021 should have also been enrolled. At the very least in one UC transferable course in the spring.
Term while they were in high school, they can graduate in June. They can enroll in the summer term at a Community College, UM, to finish those 30 semester units that they need them still and then they can apply for tag with full time enrollment in the last year at the Community College. So the rule of thumb is they have to be at a California Community College while they are in high school for that spring term.
Ysaura Suarez
11:46:52 AM
great presentation!
Uhm, we also had some questions in regards to UC repeats, and so a lot of questions were asked in terms of if a student fails. Of course, at a UC campus with the DRF, where did they go to repeat that courses at the same UC institution? Is it at a different institution? Can it be at a California Community College? And so the answer is going to be a bit specific for Davis, but for us we accept repeated you. See work from.
Any BC campus so the student received an F grade from UC Irvine.
Elvia Nunez-Riebel
11:47:44 AM
Did you just say Summer term would be ok for the High school student?
They could look at any of the other nine undergraduate campuses, find the equivalent music course, and repeat it at UCLA. If they'd like to, and we would give credit for that. It's my understanding, though, that that is going to be an answer that varies from UC campus to UC campus, so some of some of the other campuses will require students to complete and repeat the course at the same UC campus. So make sure that if this is the situation for your student.
You are double checking what the use of campus is that they are interested in.
I'm alright, so let's see we have another question in the chat in regards to engineering and so I'm going to actually give this one to you, you son. Yet if you can answer this one, but can the engineering GPS be updated on the tag selection criteria? So on the bottom it states that the higher GPA for fall 2022 tags. Uhm, OK, so this thing is just clarifying.
On the website and so, uhm, you know, we'll go ahead and take make a note of that and see what we can do on that end. But I guess the next question is, UM.
Sandra Rodrigues
11:48:56 AM
I thought you must repeat a course you did not pass at the same UC campus which the student took the course at. PLease confirm.
Michelle Hernandez-Payan
11:48:57 AM
Does a student need to include Language schools in the US or in another country on the TAG application?
Irina Rivkin
11:48:58 AM
Is it possible to go into more detail about part-time enrollment for Fall '21 and Spring '22 (exceptions, minimum part-time units)?
Did you say that just summer term would be OK for the high school student and no so summer term is, UM, was just an example. It's spring term that the student, the high school student needs to be enrolled in summer term would be optional. Summer term would be recommended if the student needs additional units to meet the 30 units needed at the time of tag application.
Come listen, are there any other questions that you see that we can?
I just want to Sanders says that they must repeat. Of course, you did not pass at the same UC campus with the student took the course. Please confirm.
I'm just kind of reiterating with lettuce and mentioned for UC Davis specifically. We will allow that student to take at another campus, but other UC's may require them to take it at this specific campus. I would recommend I would get students you know come to us and ask us like how can I repeat this course when I was at a different you see and we would kind of recommend at that point what they would be able to do. So again, it's campus ecampus. Luckily here at Davis.
Were able to, you know, wherever they take it at another UC, we're going to be able to grant them that. That repeat course and so.
Again, our job is kind of like what we want to do is to.
Christy Blaine
11:50:09 AM
Michelle - Yes, the student will need to provide us all of their school information, including Language Schools.
Provide that student with what best. Basically what best is going to benefit them, but reach out to the specific UC campus if you're kind of up in the air with that one, and then we'll go ahead and confirm per their campus.
Uhm, does a student need to include language schools in the US or in another country on the tag application?
I would say yes, anything that they took from any language once it comes to us. If we determine that's not transferable to the UC or any of that, then we will go ahead and make those changes. But just to kind of be on the safe side, I would recommend the student and putting all the courses that you took. Even the language schools. Most of them kind of don't transfer and in that sense of a transfer student. So just to be on the safe side, we want to make sure that the reporting.
Everything.
Is it possible to go into more detail about part time enrollment for fall 21 in spring 22? Exceptions minimum part time units that if you want it.
You wanted.

Can you clarify the Calculus requirements for Economics and Managerial Economics, and if there are any changes planned?
Sara Nieves-Lucas
11:51:20 AM
UC Davis used to have an matrix on the majors with the requirements needed for TAG. Was it removed or where can I find a copy?
Yeah, so when it comes to part time status when we say case by case it really is case by case. So it depends on what the student gives and we are pretty flexible with the part time status, especially in the last academic year. If the student has proven that they are, you know doing consistently well that they've done well in other full-time enrollment semesters, but most of some of the common exceptions include.
Yesenia Velazco
11:52:11 AM
TAG Matrix: https://admission.universityofcalifornia.edu/counselors/files/tag-matrix.pdf
Full time job family to take care of other obligations outside of school. Maybe they have some financial difficulties. It really covers a wide spectrum of reasons and we're not looking for specific reasons. Like I said, it really is just what the student has to say and it will also kind of depend on previous performance, so it's not like one answer will give you a definite exception versus another.
Patricia Garcia
11:52:40 AM
Question-if a student is planning to apply for TAG under your Communications major for UCD and they took an Statistic course to meet Major prep and admissions with a grade of pass during Fall 2020. Will UCD allow the Pass grade? Will this affect their TAG application?
We really just want our students to be honest and to really help us explain why they're no longer part time. Another example may be that the student is has been at the Community College for a quite a couple of years, and now they're just finishing up their last couple of requirements and that is acceptable as well. We're not going to look unfavorably if a student is already almost done with all their requirements. So again, really depends on student. That's wasted case by case.
Sandra Rodrigues
11:52:59 AM
could a student say that he's completed all of his course reqs and will use the last semester to work full-time to save money for college?
Uhm, so we have some question here about the clarifying the calculus requirement for economics and managerial economics. And if if there are any changes planned, so when it comes to our selective major criteria, we always announce changes at least two years in advance. So if there are any changes coming up, we would be announcing them, usually in the spring time and we would be giving up two years notice for now.
Christy Blaine
11:53:22 AM
Garcia, but the student will still need to be enrolled at least part time at the CCC.
And that's for if we're adding any requirements. So if we wanted to add additional coursework if we wanted to increase the GPA if we are decreasing the GPA, or if we are removing a course as a requirement, then we don't usually announce that two years in advance because it's to the students benefit that we are removing a requirement. So this year there were some changes and the managerial economics. The GPA did drop for the major preparation.
And, uhm, I believe that one of the courses was also removed. So it is a little bit different. So good, catch stuff in it. But yes, it's not anything that is added. It's actually been removed.
Irina Rivkin

Re: the reasons -- do disabilities/health issues count for allowing part-time enrollment, and would a reduced letter from a DSPS/SAS Counselor help (if PT enrollment would not interfere with meeting transfer requirements, major, GE, units etc.).
Sara Nieves-Lucas
11:54:06 AM
That is not what I am referring to. It was created by Davis. I believe it had Engineering majors on it
Christina Ortega
11:54:07 AM
Thank you for these "your resources" QR codes...could you please post as hyper links in the chat?
And so we have another question here. If a student is planning to apply for tag under your communications major and they took a statistics course to meet the major preparation with a grade of a pass during fall of 2020, Will Davis allowed the past grade and will this affect their tag application? Soum Communications is a non selective major, so the major preparation is not something we're going to be specifically.
Coming in on meaning that if a student wanted to take a pass grade for admission purposes, we would include the units in the students application. However, it is important to keep in mind that major preparation.
Christy Blaine
11:54:48 AM
Sara, yes, we use to have an UC Davis ENGR grid, we no longer have this document.
Well, still it's highly encouraged that they still take it for letter grades because once they're on campus, there major preparation requirements may shift based off of if the student took a course as a letter grade versus a pass grade. So for admissions it has no impact for after transfer. That one will depend on the major department.

Christy Blaine
11:55:20 AM
yes, that is good reason for Part-Time status.
And I just I just put on there at the, UM, our resources, the care codes there. But I also put on the.
The links on there as well so that you students have a means to counselors have access to them.
OK, yeah.
And there's one that Sarah mentioned about the tag matrix or a UC Davis matrix that we had with engineering, which was very helpful even for us. But we do not. We no longer have that document. It hasn't been updated, so.
We don't have it.
Right, so yeah, the matrix was dumb, something that the College of Engineering is to do. And that's not something that they have been keeping up with in terms of keeping it updated and come. This is current, and so we've actually been discouraging counselors from using that, because, again, it's out of date, so we don't want students.
Using incorrect information on the matrix, so unfortunately it's not updated and it's not really available anymore because it's not updated and so I would just discourage from using the matrix.
Uhm, for actually going on that for engineering. So we are currently working on updating assist.org so there are quite a bit at the apartments being completed. For the most current 2021-2022 academic year. But if you've used the major portion of assist we may see that it's not letting you update the newest one. So for now you know we will be using the 20 to 2021.
Academic year for engineering. And so if you need to advise engineering students, it's OK to use last year's assist agreement and we will be honoring that.
Uhm, so we have a couple more minutes. Are there any other questions that we? It looks like we have a few in the queue.

Clarification: So students with more than 30 units of AP credit, would still need 30 CC units..
Patricia DeMaris
11:57:19 AM
For a student who was unable to attend in spring 2021 due to medical reasons, will she still be considered if she provides the reason?
Uhm, so for clarification. So students with more than 30 units of AP credit would still need 30 Community College units. And that's correct. Students have to have a total of 60 units and at least 30 have to be from a California Community College. The other 30 could come from different sources.
I'm.
I'm going through the through slate or questions there, so there is a question here. This is just selection criteria for major has to be mad at the time of the tag submission or by the end of spring 2022 if major prep courses included in selection criteria or in progress provided an example of AP credit when, where, and how to count order. The most common errors that are made on the counselors end.
I'm going to go ahead and copy this, 'cause it's a long one.
Yesenia Velazco
11:58:05 AM
Does selection criteria for major have to be met at the time of the TAG submission or by end of Spring 2022 if major prep courses included in selection criteria are in progress?
Christy Blaine
11:58:24 AM
PJ - Yes, please have the student explain why they were unable to attend.
And so does selection criteria for major have to be met at the time of the tax admission. Again, it does not. They have until spring 2022 for this specific cycle to complete their major preparation courses. But again, the GPA must be met at the time. If it's a specific GPA for that specific series has to be met by fall.
Of.
This year fall 20. The time fall 2021. I know my dates and.
Also, UM.
There was.
Sorry.
Sandra Rodrigues
11:59:04 AM
so a student can use 30 units of AP, but how many units must be completed at the community college before a student is eligible for TAG?
So so for this I'm going to jump in real quick, so something that's useful. And since you'll have this PowerPoint and presentation available for you is actually this tag timeline that we went over near the kind of middle of the presentation. And this breaks down like what needs to be done on the students and in order to meet the tag requirements. So here we see that selective major course requirements are do so to speak.
Christy Blaine
11:59:39 AM
Sandra, Yes, a student can use AP units. They will need to have 60 semester units Planned by the end of Spring 2022.
At the end of the spring of 2022, but all GPA requirements with courses that have been completed have to be met by the end of summer of 2021 because that's the very last done completed term before we get the application. Thought is in progress, right? So we will pay attention to tentative schedules and make sure that they have the right courses, but we have no way of factoring fall grades. If fall semester isn't done so everything in terms of.

11:59:44 AM
Thank you both. Got to go. Good to see you Yesenia!
Yesenia Velazco
12:00:07 PM
Thank you everyone :)
Grades, overall GPA and selective Major GPA that hot in completed coursework thus far has to be done by the end of summer, so this is a really good actual timeline to help you choose. Like if the student has those situations where it's like, well, you know I'll be meeting the you know overall GPA by end of fall. I was like OK. Well let's look at the timeline. Actually that's not going to make it in time for tag. It'll be helpful for general admissions but not for tags, so I would definitely recommend using this.
Particular slide when it comes to this scenarios.
So we are done.
Uhm, do we have any last minute questions?
Christina Ortega

Thank you both, this was very helpful.
There was one that, but Chrissy answered it so student can use 30 units of EPI. But how many units must be completed at the Community College? The other 30 must be from a California Community College, so that would be the 60 at the end of spring 2022.

So we are at a time, so thank you everybody so much for joining us. Hopefully this was all very helpful and will help you also in that tag process. We also want to thank you in advance for being such. Great to presume this time. It definitely helps us out a lot as well so again, feel free to reach out to us to your specific counselor contact at Davis if you do not have one. We do have our website updated. There should be. Everybody should have 114.
